Suprise visit
Characters: Angelina and Lee
Setting: Angie's place in Wales, November 13th around 5:30pm
Summary: Angie gets a surprise visit from Lee!
Rating: Safe for work, probs.

Angelina was in a far better mood than she had been yesterday. The lack of living Inferi all round her was a pretty good reason for that, as was the confirmed knowledge that the DMLE did in fact have it well under control. Maybe by tomorrow the things would be gone. Lucky for her, living in Wales, she didn't have to come across them at all, and she had heard nothing of them invading the muggle world. She'd checked in with her parents, was convinced all was as well as could be expected, and decided to have a bite to eat, nothing too heavy. She had plans for later, but she had no idea if dinner was counted in that.

Lucky for her she had some leftover takeaway. She flopped onto the couch, not bothering to heat up the cold noodles and flipped on the television, crossing her legs at the ankles. She had barely begun to eat when the was a knock at the door. Brow furrowed Angie got up to get it. She wasn't expecting anyone. Noodles still in hand, she opened the door.

Angelina snorted and stuck both containers of noodles in the microwave. As it was heating she came back and handed Lee a beer. "Had a feeling you'd say that," she said in a resigned tone, flopping down onto the sofa next to him.

"That sounds like my father and aunt. You can take one look at them and tell she was the tormentor. I would have loved to see them growing up let me tell you." Angie took a drink from her beer, realising that, though she wasn't likely to admit it, she was absurdly happy to see Lee. It had been a while, and seeing him sort of made things seem a little less mad. She knew perfectly well what was going on in the wizarding world, but when you saw a smile like Lee's turned on at you, it was bloody difficult to dwell on something negative.

"Well then besides tormenting family, what have you been up to lately?" She hoped he wasn't among those having nightmares as well. She didn't ask. She wasn't sure she could stand to hear another on of her friends was possibly in danger.

Lee only grinned at her as he took the beer.

There were a few things Lee could say, but he wouldn't actually be saying them. For the simple fact that he didn't honestly see the point. Like telling anyone he was having nightmares for one. There were a whole lot of other people who were suffering and people that were suffering because of those people, and the last thing Lee wanted to do was add on to anyone's worry about what might befall him. He had been fine so far, he was still fine, and he himself was the last person he was thinking about in all this.

Plus it was so much easier to be positive. Taking a sip of his beer, Lee grinned, "Oh you know... work, the odd Honeypot visit - not enough people appreciate what those girls do in a non-insulting way, flirting with Aurors." No need to embellish on that part - oh, wait. "Make that flirting with Aurors who saved my arse from one of the Inferi. Just another week in my world."

I'm probably going to hate myself for even telling you this, but I'm glad you stopped by, yeah? Seems like a lot of doom and gloom going on and I could use a bit of cheering up. Especially after yesterday. Had a freakish run-in with those...whatever they really are crawling around in Diagon." Angie shivered a bit in memory.

She raised her eyebrow at Lee. "I should have known you were a Honeypot frequenter. I swear I keep hearing more and more about that place lately. It's not sleazy is it? It's a bit close to Knockturn so I always wondered." It wasn't her sort of entertainment really, but she was getting curious.

Just like she was about this Auror of Lee's. Apparently Angie and Melinda might not be the only ones making time with the law. "Oh? Found yourself a new conquest?"

Lee gave her a look of put-upon wonder, not serious about it in the least bit, but willing to play it up just because. "I think... that might be one of the nicest things you've ever said to me. And I'm going with Inferi... even if they are still alive. Or alive-ish." He took another sip of his beer.

"I think that depends on how you generally feel about women taking off their clothes for strangers," Lee replied, the upward quirk of his lips suggesting that he might have just thought it was the best thing in the world. Which, honestly, he thought it was. What straight male didn't enjoy a little sexy entertainment every now and again?

"Conquest just sounds so dirty." Despite that, he grinned. "And, anyway, I have to owl her first. Which I think I'll be waiting on. Can't owl a bird the day you meet after all. It just sounds desperate." He paused. "But maybe very late the day after is all right."

Angie rolled her eyes. "Actually you're probably right, it just might be. Tell anyone I said it, and I'll hex you blind. Maybe worse." She shuddered at the thought of the not-inferi. "I don't know what they were. I just know if Michael hadn't shown up when he had I'd have been in mounds of trouble."

She shrugged her shoulders at Lee. "If the women want to take off their clothes that's their choice. They're not being forced into it or forcing anyone watching to go there, right? No harm." It just wasn't her cup of tea. She had no interested in watching women take off their clothes, no matter what gossip rags liked to say about her.

"Of course it sounds dirty. That's why I said it," Angie replied with a grin. "Owling immediately may seem too eager, but taking too long seems like you're not interested. Just owl her if you are." Angie hated playing games like that. If she wanted someone or something she just went for it, which was why she'd owled Cade, finally. After yesterday she needed to let some stress and worry out and this was a damned fine way to do it.

"I thought we were past the threats stage, you know." Not that Lee looked very worried about the idea of Angelina hexing him. He guessed it was because he knew it wasn't serious. "Good on Michael, then."

Taking a sip of his beer, Lee nodded at Angie. "Exactly! Besides, a job is a job."

Lee shook his head just slightly at her, and the grin didn't fade. "You shock me, Miss Johnson." He shrugged a bit, thinking on it. "I'm not holding off on owling her just because, but I was thinking at least twenty-four hours should go by first. It's technically be a new day then." He thought for a moment on it, deciding he'd ask her out for drinks. Not an official date, he didn't think, since that was the sort of thing he liked to ask in person, and he sort of wanted to feel out his chances before leaping headlong for once.

"I threaten like I play Quidditch, Lee. I never stop. We'll never get past that stage," she teased. Angie thought she ought to swing by and pay Michael a visit, thank him again, once the creatures were well and truly gone, which wouldn't be long the way the DMLE were handling things.

She took a swig of beer, swallowed and grinned again. "You think that's shocking? Then it's been far too long, hasn't it?" She shrugged at Lee's reasoning. Honestly knowing a bloke was that interested in her she'd think more flattering than desperate, but not everyone thought the same way. And interest and persistence obviously didn't get one everywhere. Lee'd been interested and persistent for ages and well, that hadn't really worked out for him either. "Who is it anyway? The auror?"

"Do you hear that sound right now?" Lee asked, looking for all intents and purposes completely serious, though anything he might've said next absolutely gave him away. "That is the sound of my heart... slowly breaking into a billion itty bitty pieces. How you've deceived me so."

Lee smirked then. "Maybe I wouldn't be so shocked if you didn't spurn my advances and reject my undying love. See? Heart breaker." He took a sip of his beer then. "Agatha Bole. Know her?"

Angie cupped her ear, pretending to listen. "Yeah I know that sound. I've heard it before, plenty of times. Right after you ask me out and I say no, in fact," she added, grinning at him.

She actually laughed then, realising she hadn't done so in a few days. She was right. Lee's visit was probably just what she needed. "Bole...Wait. Slytherin a year older than us? If she's the bird I'm thinking of she always wanted on the Quidditch team, but Flint was an arse about it at best. Never let a girl on the team." She quirked an eyebrow at him. "So that's her then?

Lee gave an appropriate wince at that. "Break my heart a bit more, why don't you? It's all right though in any case. I've come to understand that it's only because you're not very confident in your ability to handle all I have to offer."

He nodded. That sounded pretty exactly like who he was talking about, right down to Quidditch and Flint. Shrugging then at her raised eyebrow, he said, "What can I say? I might have a type." He grinned.

Angie leaned over and squeezed Lee's arm. "Yes of course that's the reason. I simply can't handle you," she replied in a voice dripping with sarcasm. She did feel a little bad about always turning him down, but she just never really saw him as more than a friend and didn't want to possibly ruin that.

Angie smiled again at that. "If that's the case I hope she's not the type to keeping turning you down. I don't know her extremely well but..." Hmm. She probably knew Cade. Angie figured if she was going to shag him a second time she might as well start calling him by his first name. "Let me know how that turns out, yeah?"

"I know you don't believe it, but I can see it in your eyes." Honestly, though, Lee had very much put away any idea of ever dating Angelina years ago and it was more that it had become a habit of his than genuine desire that kept him making jokes about it and the like. She was a mate, a good one of that, but like prank wars with George, he was going to make comments about being in love with her even when they were old and grey and married to other people.

"We'll have to find out about it, then, yeah?" Lee asked, though he wasn't exactly worried. He had a pretty good vibe about this one, so as far as he was concerned it was all he actually needed in order to go ahead with his plans. "You'll be first. Or, no, actually. You'll be second, since I'm obviously going to tell George first."

Angie couldn't stop herself from laughing then. Honestly, what would she do without Lee? She didn't even want to think about it. He may have loved good jokes and pranks and been unpredictable to those who didn't know him well, be she could count on him in any number of ways that mattered.

"Oh of course. Best mates get first notice, obviously." She waved that off as though it barely needed saying. Hell, whenever something happened with her she went straight to her best mates before anyone else. It was just how it was. Angie suddenly remembered the food in the microwave and hopped back up to get it. She set one container of noodles in front of Lee, chopsticks stick in it and took the other or herself. "Eat up. Slytherin aurors require energy," she said before she thought that statement through.

Lee sort of put a good amount of his worth in his ability to change a person's mood, especially when it came to his friends and family. Even when he was annoying the hell of someone, he still tried his best to be amusing to someone (he didn't count Kendrick as he didn't have a funny bone in his body).

"It's the first rule of it, you know." Lee took another sip of his beer as Angelina went into the kitchen and came back, food in hand. He took the container with a grin and prepared for to eat a bit when her comment gave her pause. Raising an eyebrow and almost smirking a bit, he asked, "Are we speaking from experience? I think you're speaking from experience."

Angie dove into her noodles, using them as an excuse to not answer Lee's question right away. She had no idea if George had randomly mentioned her conversation with him about Warrington a week ago. It wasn't likely right? It wasn't as though the conversation was a big deal.

She chewed and swallowed, took a swig of beer and shrugged one shoulder as if it wasn't anything important. "Maybe." She kept at the noodles as if they were the most interesting thing in the world. Or as though she were absolutely starving and nothing else could hold her attention.

Lee's chopsticks were halfway in route to his mouth when he realised that she was stalling in answering the question. That only caused the smirk to deepen and the eyebrow to climb higher.

"Maybe, is it? That's not an actual answer." Well, it was, a bit, but Lee wasn't accepting it, so he didn't say that last bit out loud. "Unless that's another way you've decided on for saying yes."

Angelina gave him a quick and fierce grin. "It's an answer. It's just not the answer you want to hear." She took her time eating her next mouthful, swallowing some more beer and poking around for more noodles before continuing.

"So yeah, maybe I do know a little from experience." She twirled noodles around inside the container without actually scooping any up. "'Bout time I found someone else who could keep up with me anyway."

"Didn't you know that I absolutely live for the intimate details of your love life? I like to live vicariously," Lee retorted in between his own sip of beer and a mouthful of noodles.

"Oho, is that what it is?" Lee laughed, then as he picked up his bottle for another sip of beer. "Watch out for Angelina Johnson -- she can't be tamed."

Angie gave a good and proper hearty laugh then. "Of course. The details of my love life have been oh so interesting the past few months," she retorted. She'd had no love life to speak of in recent months. Last week had sort of changed things.

Angie pointed a chopstick at Lee. "Damn right I can't, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like a bloke to try and see what happens." Some just had more...force of personality than others.

"That's why this is so exciting," Lee grinned. Personally, his love life generally consisted of mostly actual relationships but with a few one-offs sprinkled in at random points. Well, a lot of actual short-lived relationship. Which he liked to say was not his fault at all, but more because he was "too much man," - it was entirely possible it was definitely the former of the two, though.

"I wish your Slytherin Auror all the luck in the world," Lee said with a smirk.

Angie refrained from sticking out her tongue at Lee in a purely juvenile manner and instead shoved at his shoulder. He had a point, though she was loathe to admit it. This was the most exciting development in her love life of late.

"He's not my- oh bugger, forget it." While she sincerely doubted she and Cade were anything beyond an occasional shag, she wasn't going to continue arguing that point with her friends, even if she hadn't argued it with Lee just yet. "Thanks. He'll probably need it," she replied. She knew damn well she could be a handful. Luckily it seemed like Cade was prepared and capable of handling it, and her.

"That reminds me. Much as I love your company, Lee, you better eat and drink up. I have a date, as it were, and i still have to get cleaned up."

Lee only laughed at that, having fully expected the backlash from Angelina.

His grin was all innocence then, as he was mostly teasing her. He'd wait for it to be more of a thing to get into the good jokes, he decided. This was a new topic to use for teasing, and Lee wanted to have fun with it.

He made a look of mock hurt. "I see how it is. Tossing mates out for a shag." Never mind the fact that he was the one who showed up at her door unannounced. Lee didn't think that was actually an important fact for the conversation.

Angie smiled again, her heart warmed by Lee's presence. It was presented as just a friendly 'I'm in the neighborhood' visit, but it did wonders for her mood.

"Yes that's exactly how it is," she replied loftily. "Really though if you want the details of my love life you've got to let said life happen, yeah?" She finished the last of her noodles and set down the empty container. Luckily Angie had already been to Cade's so she could Apparate over, not to mention it was pretty close by as well.

But she was probably still going to be late. She just ran about fifteen minutes behind the world, it seemed. "Go owl your Auror when you've waited long enough and tell me how that goes, all right?"

"Technicalities, technicalities," Lee stated stubbornly, even as he finished his beer and made a show of getting rid of what few noodles he still had left in his container. Once that was out of the way, he set both down, making a show of it for Angelina.

"Yeah, I'll keep you in the circle and whatnot."

Angie grinned and got up, carrying the empty containers back into the kitchen to trash them. "I'm glad you came by. Maybe we should go out sometime next week, have some drinks catch up some more, yeah?"

She peeked her head around the wall of the kitchen as she spoke so she could see him.

Lee stood while Angelina was in the kitchen. He didn't answer immediately, not because of a lack of desire of wanting to spend time with her; she was Ang, he loved spending time with her. But only just because. For suspense.

"Of course we can. You, me, copious amounts of firewhiskey - or drink of choice for the moment. And only talk of fun things."

Angelina curbed her impatience, knowing Lee was taking his sweet time to reply because he was Lee. She came back out of the kitchen and show her particular brand of love: She went in the punch lightly at his shoulder again, immediately to follow up with a hug. "Sounds like a plane to me. We'll pin down a day time and place."

Lee made a mock gesture of physical pain, but grinned as he returned her hug. He might have also overdone it just a tad by ruffling her hair in retaliation for the punch, too.

"All right, then. I'll let you prepare for your shag date."

Angie scowled at him briefly. "Feel free to let yourself out," she replied airily. "You know where the door is." She then grinned once more at him and started cleaning up so she could get ready.

She was going to be late anyway, but that was no big surprise. She would have managed that with or without Lee's visit.
