Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!status: complete, ^date: november 13 2003, character: fenrir greyback

Who: Fenrir Greyback and some NPC guards
What: Escaping!
Where: Azkaban to start, we'll see after.
When: 9am, Thursday Nov. 13
Rating: PG-13 at least, Fenrir is gonna kill some folks on his way out.

At 08:00 hours, the wake up call sounded through the prison, and Fenrir opened his eyes to another boring day in Azkaban. He climbed off his make-shift bed and walked to the sink, using an old, dirty cloth to scrub his face a bit to wake him up fully. He always had to be alert, ready for anything, because you never knew what was going to happen. After pulling on a clean set of prison stripes, he stood at the barred cell door and waited for the guard to come along and let him out for breakfast. He sighed, as this whole process was taking longer than normal, and he was pretty sure he'd heard the sound of a wand hit the floor further up the hall. Clumsy, never let go of your wand in this place. A few jeering calls floated down to where he was, and he wondered what was different about this morning, as the other inmates were usually pretty quiet before breakfast.

Eventually the guard reached his cell, and he could immediately see why the morning was different. This wasn't the normal guard for their section. It was some scrawny little newbie, one who clearly hadn't been here long, he could tell by the shaking of the boy's hands. He must have just made it through training recently, he was green as could be. The kid nervously waved the wand and unlocked Fenrir's cage. "Take you bloody time," Fenrir growled at the kid as he stepped out and moved by him. He let a little snarl follow it up, and was pretty sure the guy looked close to wetting himself, but he didn't stick around to see if he would. He was hungry.

Once in the mess hall, Fenrir sat at his customary table, and waited for his food to be brought to him. He wasn't allowed in line, he'd caused too many problems in the close quarters of people trying to get their food, and when Fenrir was hungry, he was especially vicious. He'd killed two people before they stopped letting him in the line. So while everyone else filed through with next to no trouble, his raw meat was brought to him where he sat. It had taken a while to get something he was actually interested in eating when he'd first been brought in, but they realized he was more complient and less agressive when they fed him raw meat, so they caved. Of course the stuff they gave him could hardly be considered meat. Clearly it was the kind of thing that the butcher of some place couldn't sell, so they sent it his way. Still, it was better then the slop that everyone else ate.

A few people joined him at his table, fellow Death Eaters, they all went way back to the first war. He didn't say much to anyone, mostly listened. Fenrir was a man of few words, but his words were always well placed. And though some seemed to think this meant he was stupid, he was actually a bit brilliant, much to the displeasure of most people. He was tearing at a particularly rough piece of meat, not really paying attention to what the others were saying, when his ears perked up and he turned his head slightly in the direction of the conversation that was taking place a bit away from him. Fenrir had excellent hearing, due to his being a werewolf, and he could hear things most others couldn't. Including whispered conversations in the middle of a crowded room. It sounded like two of the greener guards were talking about something going on in the Wizarding world, something about Inferi, and how most of the more experienced guards were called to help with that, leaving them in charge. They sounded nervous, and were obviously being careful not to be over heard by the inmates, but they were too new to know that Fenrir was different, and clearly their superiors hadn't properly warned them.

A plan was starting to form in his head. At the end of the breakfast period, when everyone was being lined up and marched back to their cells, Fenrir hung towards the back of the crowd, and waited until the last person left. Then he sat down at one of the tables, and waited. Sure enough, a guard had counted and realized someone was missing, and came back to make him follow.

"No," Fenrir said with a smile. "I'm happy right here, think I'll stay for a while."

Alsace Podmore was a powerful witch, but she was new to Azkaban and its prisoners. She had often heard the guards lamenting the loss of the Dementors, as their jobs had been that much easier when the prisoners were disabled by despair. Personally, she thought they were just a little lazy and wanted to get paid for doing nothing all day. Many of the other newer guards felt the same, particularly since the number had greatly increased with the departure of the Dementors, and had provided jobs for many who needed them.

Now, however, the lack of experienced guards was making itself known in the psyches of those left behind. Many were nervous about dealing with prisoners, and those like Alsace who weren't worried that it would give signals to the prisoners.

Her fears proved founded when one of the prisoners failed to follow the others back into the prison proper. She had yet to learn all the prisoners' names and thus wasn't certain which one this was, but his grey, straggly look did not bode well. She tried a solid, reasonable voice, but he refused to move.

"Happy or not, you need to return to your cell."

The smile on his face widened to show his yellowed teeth, and it wasn't a friendly smile by any means, more of a wicked one. His black eyes bore into her, and no matter how she tried to stand tall and confident, he could tell she wasn't quite as sure as she wanted to be. "Why don't you make me, sweetie," he invited, stretching his legs out and leaning his elbows on the table as he very obviously gave her the once over.

A creepy little laugh escaped from him, this could be far more fun than he had prevously anticipated. He knew he'd have to take at least one person hostage in order to get out of here, maybe he'd take this lucky little lady, and have all kinds of fun with her.

His laugh sent an involuntary shiver down her spine. She immediately reached for her wand, holding it like a shield in front of her.

"Don't make me make you," she returned, trying for confident and deathly terrified she wasn't succeeding. "Now get up slowly, and return to your cell."

Fenrir resisted the urge to laugh loudly as he saw her shiver. Green as green came, just how he liked them. Yes, this would definitely be more fun than he should be allowed to have, he was already listing ideas of what to do with this pretty little thing.

He put his hands up as if giving up and stood, slowly and carefully, like she said, offering her another devilish smile as he did so. Clearly this girl didn't know who he was, or she would already have back up, which meant she didn't know what he was, and how fast he was. He strode slowly forward, faking a bit of a limp to make it seem he wasn't at his full strength, and she had less to worry about than she thought. Once he was just about beside her, he moved with impossible quickness, came up behind her and grabbed her wrists, twisting the one until the wand fell to the floor. He was able to hold her hands behind her back with one hand, while the other snaked up her body to her neck. He bent his head down to right next to her ear and inhaled loudly, smelling the fear on her. "You should really make a point of knowing who you're up against in here, sweetheart," he whispered in her ear.

When he stood up, she was relieved that she wouldn't have to resort to force. While she was fully capable, she preferred to exhaust all her other options. The older guards sometimes teased her, saying it was only because she had yet to become as jaded as they were, and that one day she would hate all prisoners as much as they did.

Unfortunately for her, they would prove to be right.

She honestly didn't know how the man had turned on her so quickly, and though she tried fighting back, she wasn't as strong as she could have been and was all too easily rendered wandless. Her Uncle Sturgis would be so disappointed in her.

"Help! Guards!" she shouted as loudly as she could, her voice echoing in the meal room. She only hoped that someone was withing hearing range.

He chuckled in her ear. "That's right, call them back for me, sweetie. I'll show you just what I'm capable of, but I'll save you for later, how about that?" His hand tightened on her throat a little tighter as she struggled against him. He liked a woman with some fight in her, it was always more fun that way. Soon enough, her back up came running in, a few just as useless guards.

"You can't even send me someone worth killing? Pitty, I'd really like to take down that bastard Burges." Burges, of course, was a much more senior guard, and was the one who gave him the most trouble. He wasn't afraid to throw a stunning curse or two your way just for putting a toe out of line. Oh well, he'd have to target him outside of this place. "Careful, fellas," he said in a voice that was much more a growl. "Wouldn't want to hurt this one here." He nuzzled his face against her neck a little bit, and smiled at the others, all standing around looking clueless as to what they should do. "I didn't get your name yet, sweetheart," he snarled in her ear. He was going to have to knock her out temporarily so he could take out the rest of them without worrying about her getting away from him.

She didn't know what to do - this wasn't something that had been covered in her training, and actually being held by one of the prisoners was far different than any theoretical situation they could have ever come up with. Her eyes pleaded with her fellow guards as they arrived, but they were fore fearful than she had been.

Though that was quickly changing, as his nuzzling disgusted her, and she began truly fearing what he might do to her. There were, after all, some things worse than death.

"My name is none of your business," she replied in a growl of her own, refusing to give him even that bit of leverage against her. "Forget about me, get him!" she ordered the others, who appeared hesitant to do anything lest she get hit.

He let go of her neck long enough to run his abnormally long, pointy and tough finer nails along her cheek. "I don't think they want to hurt you sweetie, and if you won't tell me your name, I'll just have to make one up for you. You might not like that. Though you should know, I like my women with some fight in them, so keep denying me, it only makes it more fun."

He turned his attention back towards the other guards. He wasn't sure if they were frozen in fear or indecision, or a mixture of both, but that worked to his advantage really. He put his hand on her stomach then, and pulled her with him back towards the wall. "I'll apologize for this now, sweetheart, have to make sure you won't run off of course while I take care of these fellas." With that, he let go of her, but just as quickly put a hand on the side of her head and pushed it into the wall. It was just enough to knock her out for a few minutes, but shouldn't keep her out much longer than that. He caught her though, when she went limp, and set her on the floor. From that position he literally leapt at the other four guards who were in shock from what had just happened.

He landed on the first one, driving his fist hard into his face, then bringing his claw like nails hard across his neck, ripping into it and slicing the vocal chords so he couldn't scream. He moved fast enough to dodge the first spell thrown at him, as one of the guards had snapped into action finally. One down, three to go.

The other guards were finally waking up as the first of them was pummeled by the prisoner. One of them shot off a stunning spell that was uncannily dodged. The second cast a binding spell, hoping to snag the man with ropes. The third rounded on the lot of them, trying to find the right spot to aim a cutting spell.

None of them had the stomach to even try an unforgivable. Perhaps they should have.

Fenrir laughed loudly, this was more like it! This was the fun he'd been missing!! Maybe he'd even leave one alive to lead a cursed half life like those others he'd attacked without the full moon. Let them live in fear for a while until he was ready to finish them off. He easily dodged their spells, it was like they weren't even trying, but the cutting spell hit his upper arm, just barely, but enough to draw blood. This only made him more excited. His hands and clothes were already covered in the dying man's blood, and the smell was infectious. He ran at the small group, pushing the first two aside and throwing them completely off balance. He wanted the one who had hit him.

He grabbed the kid by his wand arm and wrenched his behind his back so hard he heard a snap. The wand fell as the kid howled his pain, and then Fenrir clamped his jaws on the kids neck, biting hard and breaking the skin blood spurted, and he laughed. He broke the other arm for good measure and then pushed the guard back before stomping hard on the wand and breaking it soundly. Two to go.

The remaining two guards knew when they were outmatched, as evidenced by the two bodies of their comrades. They exchanged a look then started backing away toward the entrace to the meal room.

"You go make sure the rest are on alert and get the cells locked up, and I'll put spells on the door to make sure this one doesn't get out," one whispered to the other.

"All right, on the count of three," the other replied. "One, Two, Three..."

Fenrir turned around and faced the two guards trying to make an escape. "You think I can't hear you? Damnit didn't your advisors teach you anything!? You'd think you would all at least know who you're guarding!" He lept at them before they had a chance to make an escape and grabed the closest one. He twisted his neck quickly and heard the loud crack that signified it being broken before advancing on the last one.

He raised one hand over his head and slashed it down fast and hard at the last one's chest, but not enought to do any real serious damage. More to scare him than anything. "I've just changed your life kid," he growled at him, grabbing him by his shirt and pulling him in close so they were almost nose to nose. "But I'm feeling generous today, I'll let you live, for now. But not if you get in my way of getting out of this stinking shit of a place." He threw him into the closest wall, effectively rendering him unconscious. With that taken care of, and the alert not set at all, Fenrir returned to the unconcious woman. He picked her up in his arms, picking up her wand as well, after all, she was his ticket out. After that it was easy enough to just walk right out of the place with few guards actually there, and no one expecting anything to be wrong. Once outside, he stopped to take a deep breath of fresh air, and that was when his new friend started to wake up.

Alsace's head felt as if it had been trampled by a herd of hypogriffs. She moaned softly as she struggled back to consciously, only just beginning to remember where she was and what had happened. Her eyes opened to see the sky above, and felt a pair of arms around her... What the hell is going on?

When she focused on the man carrying her, everything came back and she struggled anew, throwing her balled fists at his face and chest. "Let me go! You son of a bitch!"

He did as she asked, and promptly dropped her with no warning, but held onto her wand. "Better?" he asked. Once she had righted herself though he grabbed her roughly by the arm and dragged her with him towards the edge of the island. There was nothing but angry sea below, and he held her right at the edge.

"Now, there's a few ways this can go, sweetheart," he started, having to yell a little over the crashing of the waves. "I have you wand at the moment, and I'm no expert, but I'll hazard a guess that if I just start waving it at you, bad things could happen. I have no training, you see, I don't know how to use these - sticks." he glanced at her wand with a look of disgust on his face. "If you struggle, I can just throw you over now and be done with you, don't think you'll survive that fall, not without your stick." He pushed her over the edge a little while still keeping a firm hold on her so she could see he was serious. "If you decide to cooperate, I'll let you live. All you have to do is get me out of here and to the Forbidden Forest, and we'll see how things go from there, but I won't kill you." He rather liked the idea of having her around, she was at least pleasant to look at. And when the next full moon came, he'd make her one of his pack officially. "The choice is yours, but choose quickly, I'm sure by now someone has found the bodies."

When he grabbed her, she wanted to try and fight him again, get in a good kick between the legs and see how fast he'd go down, but the next thing she knew, the ground was barely beneath her feet and she could hear the surf crashing below her. She trembled, as she had never been good with heights. When he pushed her again, a little further over, she grasped his arm like a lifeline.

Why did he keep calling her wand a stick? Didn't he know what it was? But, what if he wasn't a wizard. She remembered in her training that there were a few rare prisoners who weren't wizards, at least one of which was a werewolf. She forced herself to look at his face, however briefly, and could definitely see the wildness in him. "You're a werewolf, aren't you," she accused. "How do I know you'll let me live anyway?"

He smiled when she grabbed hold of his arm. "Oh, getting attached to me already are you?" he laughed and pulled her back a little, but not too much. Then she hit the nail on the head. "Excellent, maybe you were paying attention in school. Yes, I'm a Werewolf. And I have no reason to lie, it isn't something I do, never liked it much. If you don't want to help me then I'll toss you over and head back in to find another poor sap who is more interested in living. It wasn't hard to get out the first time, I'm sure I can get out a second. Hope you're not close with any of them in there, I'd hate to rip the throat out of a friend of yours." He smiled at her, his teeth barred in a vicious kind of way. He was covered in blood already, so that would let her know he wasn't joking about killing the others she'd called in. He let her decide what to do. "Running out of time sweetheart, I'll need a decision now."

There was only one choice, really. Yes, she was terrified of the heights, and kept her eyes averted from the drop so she wouldn't pass out from fear, but she was also loyal to her duty. There would be no way of capturing this prisoner if she were dead, but as long as she was with him, then she could find a way to get help.

"All right! I'll help you!" Her eyes accidentally strayed down below and she quickly shut her eyes. "Now pull me back! I said I'd help you, damn it!"

He pulled her back roughly and walked a few steps away from the ledge. "Wonderful, now we're getting somewhere. Do you need this stick to get us out of here? And don't lie to me, I'll know if you're lying." He had every intention of breaking the stupid little thing as soon as they were gone, but he really didn't know if it was required for that Aparation trick they could all seem to do. That was how he was getting off this rock, no point breaking the thing only to find out it was needed for that particular spell.

She nodded wildly. "I can't Apparate without it. Tell me where you want to go, and I'll take you."

But where could she take them? Back inside the prison? The morons would just get themselves killed letting him get away. The Ministry? Only at the Apparition points, which would be populated by civilians who could get hurt or killed. The same with Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, though there were likely less civilians there as the last of the 'inferi' were being routed out.

Fenrir gave her a stern look to make sure she wasn't lying, and she didn't seem to be. He was pretty good at reading people, so he believed her, not that it made him happy. "You're going to take us to the Forbidden Forrest, and we'll work from there. You take me anywhere else, I'll kill anyone we come across, and you. Even if I have to find another cliff to drop you off of, since that seemed affective." He literally snarled at her after speaking to emphasise how scary and evil he could be when crossed.

Reluctantly, he handed the stick back over to her. If they ended up anywhere other than the Forbidden Forrest, she was going to regret it.

She took her wand back with a trembling hand. The Forbidden Forest, of all places... she didn't know if it scared her more than the werewolf who'd taken her captive. She quickly went over her options. If she tried to cast a spell on him, he would no doubt know it from the moment she parter her lips to speak it, and she would die. If she Apparated them anywhere else, he said he would kill any innocent civilians nearby.

The only other possibility would be to Apparate them somewhere that this monster would die immediately, such as a volcano in Iceland. Unfortunately, she had never killed anyone before, and... she didn't have the stomach to do it now, no matter how utterly evil this man appeared.

She let out a sigh of resignation. For now, she would have to do as he said, and keep her eyes out for whatever opportunity presented itself to escape. That is, if she lived long enough to escape.

With a look of disgust, she clasped her hand around his wrist and Apparated them to the Forbidden Forest.

That had to be one of his least favorite sensations, Apparating. It left him feeling a bit queasy, and green, but he didn't show it, and didn't let that uneasyness shake him any. Once in the cover of the trees in that old familiar forrest, he breathed easier and let out a triumphant laugh. Before she had a chance to make any stupid moves, he turned on her and snatched the wand back out of her hand, stepping only slightly away from her, and snapping it a few times, just for good measure.

"Now you're not going anywhere, and if you try to run, just remember I run faster than normal humans, you won't get far." He lifted his face into the air and took a few deep inhales, trying to catch the scent of anything familiar. They weren't in the right part of the forrest, but they weren't too far away either. He walked back towards her and grabbed her roughly by the arm, dragging her along with him. "I want you to meet my family," he said. "I think they'll like you quite a bit, and they'll help me look after you until I can put my plans into motion for you." He didn't tell her what those plans were, but he fully intended for her to join his little family as a full werewolf as soon as the full moon came around.
