Entry tags:!status: complete, ^date: november 11 2003, character: alicia spinnet, character: george weasley

Who: Alicia and George
What: The Morning After, and receiving the Prophet
Where: George's flat
When: November 11, 8AM
Rating: PG-ish (sorry, no sex this time)

Alicia stepped out of the shower and grabbed for a towel to wrap around her hair, and another to dry off her body. She hummed in utter contentment, unable to remember when she'd ever had such a wonderful morning. It should have been awkward, probably might have been if the two of them hadn't woken up randy as hell and given it another go as the sun rose. So instead of feeling shy and awkward, she felt ravished and well-satisfied.

Now, however, she came to a strange dilemma. Her date clothes from the night before were still strewn about the bedroom, and she certainly didn't want to dress up at this time of the morning, but then, what could she wear? She was fairly certain George wouldn't mind her walking around in a towel, or naked even, but she felt a slight chill and wanted to cover up at least. Also, hot breakfast and naked skin tended not to go well together.

She spotted one of George's button-down shirts on the back of the door and decided he wouldn't mind if she borrowed it. Within moments, the towels were tossed over the side of the bathtub, and the shirt was buttoned most of the way up. For a moment, she held the collar against her nose, inhaling the slight scent that came from it, then chided herself for acting silly.

She left the bathroom and padded out to the kitchen, where she could smell food cooking. She crossed her arms and leaned against the doorway, watching George work.

"So, what's for breakfast?"

She smiled even wider when he complimented her. "I slept very well, thank you Mr. Weasley. Best night's sleep I've had in... far too long." Which was unfortunately far too true. She hadn't expected a nightmare last night, and so far the pattern held true, but the next night... Perhaps she would ask George to keep her company. Or would it be too soon?

She shrugged it off and placed a kiss on George's neck, then let him go so she could scoop up the fluffball on the floor.

"And good morning, Gidget," she said as the dog licked her nose. "I think you're going to have to talk to your dad about getting a bigger bed. I don't know if there's enough room for the three of us, you know."

Still cradling Gidget in her arms, she sat down at the kitchen table and gave him a belly rub.

"I'm glad to hear it, sounds like you needed a good nights sleep from what you said at the meeting. Glad I could help." He smiled at her, and laughed a little when she scooped up the dog. He didn't know why, but it warmed his heart to see how quickly the two of them had taken to each other. Perhaps he saw it as a good sign or something, he wasn't sure. But honestly these days, that dog was the most important thing in his life, he damn well wanted anyone else in his life to like him and be nice to him.

He cut up some of the strawberries he'd bought a day or two before and put a plate together for her, putting the strawberries on top. He grabbed the syrup and the plate and set them down before her at the table. "Coffee, tea, or juice?" he asked before he heard a pecking at the window. That would be the morning paper. He hurried over to the window and opened it, paying the owl for the paper before it flew off again. Of course, the headline on the front caught his eye, and he stopped in his tracks as he read the article, his face falling as he got further into it. "Bloody hell," he said, gripping the paper tighter in his hands. It was bad enough that something had happened to his brother, but for the bloody Prophet to take a stab at him when he could have died, that set the red head fire aflame. "Bleeding bastards," he growled, folding the paper back up and tossing it at the counter. "The Weasley family can't catch a fucking break." he pulled the pan off the stove and tossed it into the sink with a loud bang. Nothing set him off quite like people messing with his family. George put his hands on the counter and closed his eyes, taking a few deep breaths to make sure he wouldn't lose his temper in front of Ally.

Alicia couldn't have been more impressed! The pancakes were picture-perfect... and were nearly dogfood as Gidget squirmed in her lap, trying to get a bite in. She laughed, unable to chide the dog when he looked so adorable, and set him down on the ground.

"Just some juice, please," she replied as he went to answer the owl at the window. As he did, she began cutting into her breakfast, sneaking in a strawberry before reaching for the syrup. She nearly knocked in over when she heard him swear, and she immediately looked up to where he was, reading the Prophet.

She jumped when the pan hit the sink, not out of fear but out of startlement. She stood up, reaching out a hand to his shoulder and squeezing it gently. She didn't say anything, didn't know what to say until she knew what had angered him.

So she picked up the Prophet, sat back down, and read it.

And nearly stopped breathing.

She only knew the name Penelope Clearwater in the same general sense that she'd heard so many names at Hogwarts - though she did seem to remember Oliver mentioning her once or twice, perhaps having to do with one of his roommates? Yet she felt a pang at her death as if the girl had been a close friend or relative. If this murder was indeed related to the rest, and the nightmares, then in a way, she was connected to her.

She felt a rush of panic creep up her throat. Yet another person dying, another dead, and who would be next? What if it was her? All because of this stupid mark and these bloody dreams...

She threw the paper off as if it were a viper out to bite her, drew her legs up, and wrapped her arms around them.

The hand to the shoulder was appreciated, but hardly noticed. He was fuming, and trying not to fume at the same time, which was difficult. After she sat back down with the Prophet and he'd given her enough time to at least figure out what had set him off, he couldn't stop himself from talking again, still gripping the counter, and not actually looking at her. "This is just bloody brilliant. My brother gets attacked, called incompetent when he's trying to help someone, and of course the poor girl killed was probably the only person Percy has ever actually given a damn about in his life. I just don't understand, how does the Prophet get by insulting people when more serious things are going on? If I find out who decided that story was fit to run, much less who thought it was a good idea to write, I swear I'll..." he turned to face her finally and saw how she was sitting with her knees to her chest and felt the anger melt as it was replaced by worry.

George walked over and sat in the chair next to her and put his hands on her knees so she would look at him. "Als," he wasn't really sure what it was that had apparently frightened her so. "Did you know Penelope?" he asked, thinking maybe she was reacting to the bad news, but he really wasn't sure if they'd ever have had reason to cross paths much back in school or since. "Als, talk to me, what's wrong?"

She wanted to say something to soothe him about the Prophet, or some other tripe, but in the end, the same thoughts kept going round and round her mind. It didn't help that his hands on her knees made her realize just how close he was to touching the black spot below the one on the right. Alicia, who had so often tried to be positive, felt a black cloud of hopelessness over her head, and she feared it would never go away.

"This isn't going to stop, is it." She spoke softely, as if afraid to say them too loudly. "This woman is picking us off one by one, and I don't know why, and what if I'm next..."

She hadn't even told her parents yet about what was happening. What if she died and never got to tell them she loved them?

George shook her knees a little to snap her out of the doom and gloom she'd just slipped into. "Ally come on, we've been through bad and worse before and came out the other side. Besides, we've got a load more people on our side then that bint does, it's only a matter of time before her luck runs out. And if you think for a second that you're going to be next, then you need to really stop that sort of shite thinking. First of all, you're skilled at protecting yourself, you're one of the toughest girls I know, second, if it worries you that much then I'm sure I and your other friends will be more than happy to stick with you so you don't have to worry about being alone. I won't leave you alone."

He picked Gidget up then and deposited the dog in her lap, and he immediately started licking her chin. "Gidget won't leave you alone either, he'd probably bite the leg off of the person responsible for all this if she's stupid enough to show up here."

Inside her own mind she was arguing with him, saying that how could she protect herself when Harry had been killed by this witch and Ron had obviously been bested by her as well. She just managed to keep from saying it aloud, though, as he had enough on his plate with his brothers. He was just trying to make her feel better, and though she appreciated it, it didn't.

Gidget, however, did manage to make her feel better, if ony a little bit, as he was irresistible. For a moment, she wished she could live as a dog - nothing to worry about in live aside from when to eat, with whom to sleep, and where to poop.

"She'd better not show here," she finally said, cuddling Gidget to her chest. "You've a whole arsenal downstairs just ready to beat her back."

She tried for a smile as she said the words, but something even worse occurred to her. The witch wouldn't come for George, so the only reason she would come here would be to get Ally. If George was hurt, it would be her fault.

She was uncomfortably quiet, and he resisted the urge to grab her by the shoulders and shake her. Though he didn't rule that option out if she didn't snap out of it. The dog seemed to bring her out of her head and back to herself a bit, but not enouh to satisfy him. He did smile at her attempted humor, but it didn't even make her smile, and she looked like she was slipping back into her despair again.

He sighed before he gave up and did shake her a little by the shoulders. "Ally snap the hell out of it! If you let yourself worry too much and sink too far into the fear then you don't stand a chance. This woman is just a woman, she might be more powerful than most, but she's still a person who has weaknesses like everyone else. Now I'm not going to have you just give up before the end, so you better get used to the idea of fighting back, because I'll be damned if I'm going to just let you or anyone else slip away without a fight, even if I have to hunt down this bunt myself."

"Hey, I am not giving up," she replied, a spark having returned to her with his words. "I know I'll fight if I have to."

Her spine had straightened and her head lifted, but there was still a slight shadow. "That doesn't mean I'm not scared, though. Or that I have any delusions of actually being able to defend against this... whoever she is."

She reached out to touch George's cheek, a little taken aback - in a good way - at his vehemence about not letting her or anyone else 'slip away without a fight'. "Better be careful, Weasley. You're starting to sound like you care, and... it's dangerous to care about a marked woman."

"Good!" He said, grasping onto her sudden frustration and running with it. "Now hold onto that, because there's no time for the rest of it. And I'm not going to let you get distracted by the fear, I'll help you keep your mind off of it, you can spend time at the shop, and I'm sure there are plenty of others who would help as well. This bitch hasn't faced multiple people before, maybe outnumbering her is the way to get rid of her."

He put his hand on hers, holding it against his cheek. " You've met me, right? I'm kind if a risk taker. If you think some red headed bunt is going to scare me off, youve got another thing coming. I'm sure the women in my family are far more scary than than she is, it won't be a problem."

She nodded at the idea that multiple people could take on the witch. "Maybe you're right. Merlin, I hope neither of us are there when it happens, but I hope you're right."

She shook her head fondly. He was right, she'd always known him to be a risk-taker. It was one of the things that had made him so good at quidditch, and so successful at this business venture, even without Fred. It still scared her, though, to think of him hurt because something happened to her, or because he was standing between her and this murderer.

"You know, you're right. Maybe I'm the one who should bow out now before your Mum meets me and sees what a terrible 'wife' I'd make. And Merlin knows what Gin will think of me shagging her brother." Her smile made if obvious that this was all said in jest.

"Yea I hope so too, that's one fight I wouldnt mind missing out on, but I'll jump in if I have to, or if she goes after anyone I care about." he meant it too, he was sick of losing people, and quirt a few people he cared about seemed to have the targets on their backs, and he didn't like that one bit.

He laughed a bit at first until she said 'wife', which threw him off a bit, but the smile at the end made him relax again. "Eh, mums not anyone to be afraid of unless you're one of her kids. Really, if she knows I've got someone getting me out of my flat more regularly, I think she'll be grateful. Though I have no idea what Gun will say, but one way or another I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it."

"I don't know about that," she teased in relation to his mother. "I seem to remember Bellatrix Lestrange meeting the business end of her wand."

This was fun, teasing and joking, getting her mind off of the fear. She slid her arms around his neck, pulling him down until their noses almost touched, her eyes looking up at him from behind lowered lids. "Then again, you could always keep me your dirty little secret. I am, after all, a very dirty girl."

"Yea, well, she was attacking Ginny, if you avoid doing that, you should be fine. Though if for some reason you don't avoid doing that, stay away from mum and make sure she isn't around when you do."

He smiled at her. "Oh you are, are you? Don't know if I could take you home then if you're not going to act proper. You know my family, we're all about manners and behavior, anything other than prim and proper just doesn't work for us!" he leaned forward the rest of the way and kissed her. "Now you should eat before they get cold, I'm going to send Ron a quick owl, and then I'm going to have to get the shop open soon, unfortunately." he found himself much preceding the idea of just staying in bed with her all day, not doing a single thing.

She chuckled at the idea of her 'attacking' Ginny. It would only ever happen on the pitch and during pillow fights, so she had little to worry about. Other than simple old disapproval.

She accepted the kiss willingly. "Yes sir. Whatever you say, Sir," she teased, giving him a playful swat on the rump. She turned back to her breakfast, which still looked and smelled delicious. Her appetite had been curbed by the news and her reaction to it, but she would make herself eat - both because she needed to, and to make George happy.

"You just let me know when I need to be gone, and I'll be out of your hair so you can open her up."

George scrawled a quick not to Ron and sent it off, closing the window behind him. Of course the note was rather confused and worried, but he trusted Ron to get back to him quickly, so he pushed it from mind as he made a plate for himself and sat down next to her. He doussed his own pancakes in syrup and smiled at her before taking a bite.

"You don't have to leave if you don't want to, you're more than welcome to stay until you don't want to, though I will say that Gidget will probably go down with me. He does like being around all the people, he gets lots of attention." he glanced down at the dog, who was sitting expectantly by his feet, and gave him a bite of his breakfast.

She shrugged, enjoying her breakfast thoroughly. "I need to get back to mine by noon anyhow. I've an afternoon full of massages to give. The nice thing about my work is that in setting things up to be relaxing for my client, it relaxes me too. And actually doing the motions is kind of meditative in a way."

She reached down to scratch Gidget's ear. "I admit, it would be nice to have a little guy like this around, but I spend too much time out of my flat. Unlike today, most of my clients are house calls. It wouldn't be fair, really."

"Work, work, work, it's really just a menace," he continued eating, hungrier than he'd expected, but he'd had a vigorous night, followed by a similar morning. Nothing that he'd ever complain about of course, it was a very nice break from his usual routine. "But if it calms you then that's good. The shop winds me up more than anything, but in a good way. I guess there's something to be said for doing what you love."

Though George would probably never offer this to anyone, even his own family, he couldn't stop himself from honestly making the offer to her. "If you ever wanted to kidnap him for a day, you're more than welcome to." he figured with the dreams, she could use him more than George could right now, of course George would much prefer that she just stay with him, so he could be there for her if she had the dream, so she wouldn't be alone, but he was worried it was much too early to suggest that.

She nodded. "It took me a while, but yeah, I do love it. And working here? How could it not wind you up?" Her look turned mischievous. "Especially when you have so many lovely adult products to test out."

Her lips parted in shock at his offer. "Oh no, I couldn't take him away, even for a day. I'll just... have to come visit him here more often." That idea appealed to her much more.

He smiled. "If you've ever got interest in trying some of them out you only need to ask love. Or if you ever wanted to incorporate some of them into your act, I wouldn't mind the advertisement!"

He thought her reaction was cute. "I just mean if you have nothing to do during the day you could come kidnap him from the shop for a while, I'm sure he'd enjoy some one on one time with you, don't think I've ever seen him take so quickly to someone before."

"Oooh." Her eyes lit up at the idea of using some 'accessories' in her performance. "I'll have to take a look at them one time and see what I can fit in." After a moment, she realized what exactly it was she'd said and blushed brightly. She quickly returned her concentration to breakfast.

She looked down at the endearing little pooch and smiled. "Well, I've taken to him too. He's just as adorable as his 'dad'." Her eyes slipped back up to meet George's. "Well, maybe I'll come kidnap him later this week. Maybe he'd like a run around the pitch in Hogsmeade."

He laughed at her blush a little. "You'll just have to pop by then at some point, see it there is anything you fancy," George was not embarrassed to talk about his adult collection, or her other job. Neither bothered him in the slightest, they were both just means of expression really, and you couldn't fault someone for wanting to express themselves.

"Oh I can guarantee he'll like that, I've taken him there many times, nothing better in his mind than running after a stick. And I've heard it said that pets frequently appear like their owners, and the other way. Guess that makes me a scruffy mutt."

"I'll definitely come in before Friday. If I can find the right thing, I can use it in my next performance."

She jokingly reached out to pet George's hair as if it were Gidget's, but the pet quickly turned to affectionate stroking. "I don't know about the mutt party, but you're definitely scruffy." She winked. "Good thing I don't mind scruffy."

Her breakfast was soon done, and she rose up from the chair to bring her dishes to the sink, the tails of George's shirt swinging along with her as she moved. "You did the cooking, I'll do the dishes."

George nodded. "You can always come after hours too, so you have more time and privacy to look abou and figure out what you want. Or, you know, if you wanted to try them out first," he winked meschieviously at her.

He didn't mind the touch from her in the least, and chuckled at her scruffy remark. He rather liked having a bit o facial hair, even though it sometimes got out I hand. Usually he kept it neat, after all, he had a business to run. "I'm glad, I rather like it, besides, I wouldn't resemble Gidget nearly as much if I was clean shaven! Couldn't have that."

He smiled as she announced she would clean. "You don't have to, there's not much, but I won't stop you either," he said. "And if it's alright with you, I think I should run and get dressed." He stood up and headed back to his room, quickly pulling on one of his usual suits, a bit more flashy than most people seemed to like, but it suited his business.

Thankfully, Alicia knew a few cleaning spells that would make it less of a chore. She gathered the rest of the dishes and piled them into the sink, then cast a spell that would basically have them do themselves. She sat back down, lifting her legs onto George's vacated seat to relax as the spell did its work. The only thing about the spell was that it needed to be supervised, as occasionally the dishes would start straying, or the water would flood the floor.

Thankfully, it didn't take long as there weren't many to do, and she was able to leave the kitchen to start collecting her clothes. Shoes in the living room, garter and stocking in the bathroom (she'd slept in them overnight and had forgotten about them in the morning), and finally, back into the bedroom to seek out her dress and underwear.

George turned and looked at her as she came into the room to gather her clothes. He was standing in front of the mirror getting his tie done, and was just minus his shoes at that point. "You could just leave in that shirt, that would be fine," he said with a grin, rather liking the idea of people knowing she was with him. He sat down on the unmade bed and started pulling his shoes on as he watched her move around the room.

For that comment, when she picked up her bolero, she tossed it at his head. "No free shows. If they want to see me near naked, they can pay the cover charge and bring extra to slip me onstage."

She placed her clothes onto the bed once they'd all been gathered, then stepped over to the dresser to get a look at herself in the mirror, finger-combing her hair that was still a little wet from the shower. She looked at George's reflection, admiring how he looked in his suit, and started undoing buttons. She slipped the material off one shoulder and looked back at him seductively.

"Besides, wouldn't you much rather watch me take it off?"

He caught the bolero before it hit him with a laugh, having expected a similar reaction. "Alright fair enough, everyone's got to make a living. Still, they'll all be jealous of me even if you walked down in a sack, considering how beautiful you are."

After getting his shoes on, he leaned back on the bed a little and let out a groan of disappointment. "You have no idea how much I would love to do that, but I'm afraid that if I do I won't make it to work and my employees will be stuck outside wondering if I've died or not."

"Flatterer!"

She pulled the shirt back over her shoulder, but didn't button it up. "We can't have that, then."

She turned back around and walked over to where he still sat, sliding her arms around his neck and bending down to give him a long, luxurious kiss. Once they parted, she pulled away and playfully swatted his arm. "All right, off to work now. Can't have you lying on your arse all day."

"I'm being completely honest," he said with a smile, and he was, he meant it. She was beautiful, no matter what.

He kissed her in return, forcing himself not to pull her into his lap so he would be able to leave when he needed to. When she pulled away from him, he let out another disappointed groan as he pushed himself up off the bed and made for the door.

"Alright, alright, I have to get down there, people will be waiting before long if I don't get the back door open! But take your time, no need to hurry yourself out, and I'm sure Gidget will expect you to say goodbye before you leave!" He headed for the door, Gidget close on his heals and excited to go to work.

She laughed at his groan, pleased to see him so reluctant to go. She'd had so much fun since meeting up with him last night, more than she ought to have, and she feared she would have trouble keeping the smile off her face when it came time to get down to business later that afternoon.

"I'll be down in a few to say goodbye," she replied, watching Gidget follow her master.
