A murder supect?
Characters: Bianca, Justin, and Lavender
Setting: Sometime around 1 PM, Sunday November 9th. Starting off at The Sweet Shoppe, then heading into Diagon briefly for some supplies.
Summary: Bianca's just getting off work, and Justin drops by, to keep an eye on her. Then they run into Lavender.
Rating: PG-13 at most probably

Bianca had had a very pleasant morning. She'd been up early, helped open the bakery, put out fresh rolls, croissants, and scones, and had started baking the more sweet things people stopped by for around lunchtime. Then, sometime around mid or late morning, she received Justin's owl and the day went swiftly downhill. Bianca's concentration was shot and her focus gone. She managed to complete her shift by rote, but even so, the manager noticed she was a bit off and asked if she needed to leave a bit early. Bianca hesitated, almost accepting and then shook her head no. She was going to finish up properly and then, apparently, be escorted home by Justin.

She really appreciated Justin's offer, but at the same time, it almost felt like a police escort. Someone watching her in case she did something wrong. She didn't think for one minute Justin suspected her, but she still felt actually irritated about the whole bloody thing.

And if she had to admit it, she also felt somewhat, well, betrayed wasn't the right word. She and Lavender weren't friends. There'd been no reason to trust her. But trust was what a Hufflepuff did best and maybe Bianca should have gone a bit slower with that one. Either way, Lavender suspected her of murder, Justin was a going to be watching over her, and Bianca wished she'd never opened her mouth.

She took off her apron and went into the back, donning her coat and gloves over her purple dress and jacket. She came back out and went over to Justin's table. "All right, I'm off-shift. I think I'd like to make a stop before we go though, pick up a few things to make at home."

Justin had quite enjoyed spending time at The Sweet Shoppe, as was evidenced by the gathered plates and cups from his several trips up to the counter. In fact, when Bianca approached, he was in the middle of eating a sinfully delicious chocolate eclair that left him with messy lips. He grabbed a napkin and cleaned himself off before opening his mouth to answer.

"No problem. Wherever you go, I will follow, my Lady."

He stood and wrapped her up in a hug. She was such a sweet girl, yet he worried, especially after yesterday. Something in what Ernie had said made him wonder if someone might come after her for what she'd seen, or even perhaps because of what Lavender had accused through Michael. He was no hit-wizard like Ernie, but he'd protect her as best he could.

He released her, but grabbed one of her hands to place at the crook of his elbow. "Now, where to?"

Bianca let herself be hugged and immediately responded, wrapping her arms around Justin. "Thank you. I just need a few little supplies for baking. I thought I'd make some cauldron cakes," she said quietly as they stepped outside. That meant a trip into Diagon, so she headed for the Leaky Cauldron. She started ticking things off as she went. Most of the ingredients for he baking she could get on the muggle side of London, but there were some things she needed to get from a magical baking supply shop.

It didn't even occur to her to remember Lavender was a baker as well and that meant there was a chance of running into her there. Even if it had though, it would have been too much of a coincidence that they'd both be around the same part of Diagon Alley the same time, right? After passing through the Leaky, with a smile and wave at Hannah, Bianca led the way to the supply store she wanted. "Do you have any requests? For something else for me to make tonight, I mean?

"No requests - I'm sure I'll love whatever you make." He paused. "Well, unless it has squash in it." He made a face, but then softened it by sticking his tongue out at her.

"Consider me your personal chauffeur, butler, and all around handy person. I will carry your bags, taste your food, and even tuck you in at night. Some people would give their right arms to have me at their beck and call, you know."

Sure in the wizarding world a severed limb could be regrown, but it didn't change the sentiment.

Lavender really hadn't been planning on leaving her flat today. She certainly had no intention of actually getting dressed anymore than exchanging her slippers for boots and grabbing her jacket before popping over to Diagon Alley. It seemed like a lot more work than she wanted to put in for cream cheese, but it just wasn't carrot cake with the proper frosting. And really those two lovely cakes that were sitting on her counter would simply go to waste without the frosting.

So, it was definitely for her integrity as a baker that she was braving the crowds in search of a key ingredient. The plan was to simply run in, smile politely at the clerk as she asked after what she was baking today and get back to her flat as soon as possible. Of course, Lavender should have known that the universe never simply allowed her to have plans come fruition without complication. She was on her way out of the store, package in hand when she stopped dead in her tracks seeing Justin and worse Bianca approaching.

She had really been trying not to think about how mean Justin was this morning. Except just like that fear of Bianca trying to kill her or turn her into some sort of beast she never could fully let it go.

Bianca smiled gratefully up at Justin and went to step inside. Or she would have. Except right there, like fate was just mocking Bianca, was Lavender Brown. Bianca instinctively moved closer to Justin, stepping slightly behind him unconsciously. She tugged on his sleeve and whispered, "Lavender," the name filled with uncertainty.

Because really Bianca wasn't sure what to expect. She knew what Lavender thought. She didn't really know why or what the other woman would do with her knowledge. So she stood where she was, worry rooting her to the ground.

Justin wasn't a man who liked confrontations - unless they ended up with people naked in a heap on the floor. But then, that only tended to happen in his dreams, and the occasional orgy.

This was neither.

As Bianca shrunk behind him, he stood taller in front of her, as if by height alone he could protect her. He didn't like thinking he had to protect one friend from another, but if it came down to it, well... he'd Apparate Bianca away before Lavender could get a shot in. He wa a lover, not a fighter, after all.

"Hello, Lavender," he said, trying for casual, but he couldn't hide the edge to his voice. He wanted to chant See, I'm with her, just like I said, and I'm still alive!, but he wisely chose not to. "Out for some shopping I see. What're you baking?"

She shook her head as Bianca stepped back, the fingers on her hand twitching. It wouldn't make sense for her to be attacked her in broad daylight, but people were being murdered and a bit of vigilance was a good thing. Accepting the eventuality that she might die was not the same as simply allowing it to happen.

Lavender rolled her eyes at him. "So what you can be mean to me in a journal and then pretend everything is fine when we're standing face to face?" She wasn't looking for a confrontation, she wasn't even looking for a conversation pleasant or otherwise. "So, no, I don't think we're going to do this right now."

Bianca very nearly just waited in silence, but there was something prodding at her. Justin was here standing up for her. She couldn't very well just let him deal with this, could she? Besides, she wanted to know why Lavender thought what she did. When else would she get a chance? When else would she get a chance to stand up for herself for once?

"I...I think we are," she replied, her own voice startling here. "Going to do this now, I mean. Lavender, I came to you because I thought you'd understand, that I'd have someone to confide in. Next thing I know I find you you've been telling people I'm a...murderer. I know now I should never have trusted you, but what I don't know is why? Why suspect me when I was every bit as scared as you?"

Once she started talking everything came out in a rush, and when she'd finished, she looked even more startled than when she'd began. Had she actually said all that? Had talking to herself in the mirror to bolster her courage like Jayne suggested actually worked?

Justin looked down at Bianca, a look of pride on his face - and worry, definitely worry. He looked from her to Lavender and back again, and slipped his arm over Bianca's shoulders in support.

His eyes finally settled on Lavender as he awaited her reply. He also kept his free hand near his wand, just in case a last-minute Apparition was needed.

"Being scared doesn't make you innocent or absolve you, plenty of people are scared." Despite being frustrated she kept her voice low, not wanting to be screaming or draw unwanted attention. Lavender was trying to be calm and explain her point, because she was already the girl with feelings who believed in divination, which didn't increase her believability.

"So why you? Well, how about the fact that when everyone else the first nightmare you said you saw the red haired woman. Why would you have a nightmare about that?" As she spoke she started undoing the buttons and tie on her coat, needing to get at her arm more than her wand at the moment. "You had a vision that didn't fit the pattern of the not-nightmares and you know as well as I do that people don't just have visions, it's not something that happens for no reason."

Lavender fumbled around a moment, freeing her arm and pushing up her sleeve enough so that her stupid little mark was showing. "And because you don't have one of these." When she wrote it to Justin earlier, it was nothing more than a guess. She didn't actually know, but there did seem to be a connection between the marks, the not-nightmares and the murders. However, if they were going to do this right now, why not get the confirmation?

Bianca felt her face drain of color as Lavender spoke. "Well you very well could have expressed your concerns to me instead of making me out to be a killer," she replied quietly. "I'm sorry I ever told you something so important. I thought maybe, because you actually understood divination, you'd understand what I was going through. I'm not the only person who has visions. Maybe someone else did too; maybe someone else is seeing what I saw."

When Lavender mentioned the spot, Bianca actually got a little angry. She couldn't quite meet lavender's eyes though, and instead focused near her ear. "I never told you whether or not I had one, and you didn't bother to ask. I know a few people who don't have spots. Are you going to accuse all of them as well?" She shook her head. "Believe what you want; you'll just...you'll see you were wrong. I'm not a killer. You taught me a valuable lesson though. I won't be so quick to trust someone I don't know."

She looked up at Justin and tugged on his arm. "Let's go, please!" Her voice was shaking, and so was the rest of her. In fact, she very much felt like she wanted to throw up or cry. Maybe both. She wanted to get away from Lavender as fast as possible; this confrontation was a terrible idea and she just needed to go.

Justin could feel her trembling and held her even closer. He looked at Lavender with a look of utter disappointment. Honestly, he'd expected better of her than to treat Bianca this way.

And she'd dared call him mean, just for defending his friend. He hated feeling like he had to protect one friend against another, but if that was what was happening, then so be it.

"No matter what you think," he said before moving on, "I understand you're afraid, but you'll see."

He rubbed Bianca's shoulder and started leading her away. "Come on, B. You said you were going to bake me something?"

Lavender redid her jacket. "Then tell me you have one now!" She yelled after them. "Go ahead, prove me wrong right now!" As far as Lavender was concerned, the fact that Bianca didn't show her one or tell her otherwise only told her that she was right. Something was wrong with Bianca, something that made her different, dangerous even.

She didn't think she was going to get any more of an answer and Justin was looking at her like she was somehow the bully here. Lavender was scared and this whole thing just felt wrong.

Letting out a loud sigh, she shook her head. The only thing she could do was go home and double check her wards again, to make sure that she was safe. Now that Bianca knew that just worried her more. She really hadn't want to do this today and all over cream cheese. Lavender pulled out her wand to apparate back home. The cream cheese frosting better be worth it.

Bianca didn't have a spot to show, and even if she did, she wouldn't have shown Lavender. Not now, not ever. They left her yelling after them in the middle of Diagon, which probably didn't look so good, but Bianca was doing her best to keep her head up. Finally she said quietly to Justin as they stepped inside, "This is why I try not to call any attention to myself. I try to make a new friend and she thinks I'm a murderer. It's so completely ridiculous I can't believe it's even real."

She rubbed at her eyes, trying to keep the tears back and cleared her throat. "Yes I said I'd bake. I have a new recipe for earl grey tea cakes I want to try out, and I've been dying to try making French macarons. You can be my guinea pig." Bianca paused. "Well, my other guinea pig, but Delphi isn't too interested in cake," she added, referring to her actual pet guinea pig.

She glanced back over her shoulder to the window of the shop facing the street. "I'm sorry that this is all happening, Justin."

Justin reached out to touch her chin and pull it back toward him and away from where Lavender was. "Don't apologize, it isn't your fault. If other people want to think up utter shite, then it's their fault. Just know you've got me in your corner, now and always."

He gave her a quick peck on the cheek before leading her away. "And as for being a guinea pig, you know me, B - I'm always happy to experiment." He waggled his eyebrows, hoping to see a smile on her face.

Bianca gave Justin a quick and fierce hug in response. "Then come on, let's get what I need and we can pop on home. I'm very much eager to get started." She looped her arm in his and started tugging him around the store. She was going to do her best to put the memory of her run=in with Lavender behind her and just continue her day.
