Who: Tracey Davis, NPC John Davis, Jayne Dough/Pandora
What: Sibling time before something unexpected
Where: The Leaky Cauldron
When: November 8, Late
Rating: High for torture and death

It had been awhile since Tracey had spent any time with her brother John. The two of them had moved out of their mother's home almost immediately after they finished school. Their mother had been insufferable most of their lives, so why would she be any better company now that her husband was in prison?

The two of them kept busy, mostly do to work, but Tracey made it a point to try to see her brother at least once every couple of weeks. He was the only one in her family that she trusted, and she loved him very much. They had agreed tonight to go for a late supper at the Leaky Cauldron and get a few drinks.

Tonight had been particularly rowdy though, so it wasn't quite midnight yet when they left. "I swear, some people just can't hold their liquor," Tracey said dismissively, as she walked down the alley with John. She didn't quite feel like going home yet, and she knew John wouldn't leave her on her own at night.

Jayne had been sat on a bench along Diagon Alley for quite a bit of time. To any passers-by, she would appear to be studiously staring at a wall, but in all truth, she was conversing with Pandora, running over the same topic that had been foremost in mind ever since their encounter with The Bint the day before.

But do you think I could do it too?

"I don't know, child. Wandless magic takes a very focused mind, and I fear that's not your forte."

But with the sheer amount of magic you had, in just that moment... that's what we're working toward, isn't it?

"If I had a body of my own, I would have shivers - we are indeed working toward it. This much power, it can change the world."

How do I get that focus? How did you do it?

"I admit, I had some help from Gellert. But I found that I found my focus most when exerting control over others."

You mean torturing them, don't you.

There was no response but a warm feeling Jayne had come to associate with pleased agreement.

I don't know if I can do that.

"Have you ever tried?"

No, but-

"No buts. If you would like to learn, I can teach you, but it must be my way. Otherwise, you will simply have to learn to watch as I have all the fun. Also, I happen to feel not one, but two memories nearby."

Jayne broke out of her empty stare to glance at her surroundings. Diagon Alley was dark save for the occasional flicker of firelight, and she could see the shapes of two people approaching from the direction of the Leaky Cauldron. She wrapped her robes around her, trying to blend into the darkness as she tracked them with her eyes and strained to hear their conversation.

Tracey was usually an observant person, but right now she was distracted talking to her brother. If she had been on her own, she would have apparated home already, especially if she'd noticed how deserted the alley was. Except for one lone person sitting on a bench. But Tracey wasn't looking that way, she was looking up at her brother.

"So have you done anything lately to actually make our mother happy? I swear, I'm going to just start ignoring her owls. I have no intentions on marrying anyone she picks, she doesn't exactly have good taste," Tracey said with a laugh, and John laughed along.

Jayne could feel Pandora becoming impatient. She felt the familiar sensation of her bodily control being taken away, and simply moved back, anxious to see what would happen this time. Her hands moved to pull up the hood on her robes as she stood up, approaching the pair.

"Pardon me, but I couldn't help overhearing your conversation. It sounds like the two of you might have need of a matchmaker. Unfortunately, the only one I know has recently passed. Perhaps I could be of some assistance?"

Tracey jumped when the woman suddenly approached them, and she felt John's arm coming out in front of her in a defensive reflex. Seriously, it was midnight, who just came up to someone wearing a hood?

"No thank you," was Tracey's immediate response to such an odd request, and she frowned at the stranger. She of course knew about that woman who died, she worked at the Prophet and she was on top of all of the news. "We're both perfectly capable of finding people on our own," she said speaking for John.

"How wonderful for you," she replied with a wide grin.

Jayne could feel the rising power, and with a wave of her hand and a whispered stupefy, the pair were engulfed by a red flash and rendered unconscious.

"Now wasn't that easy?" Pandora said, walked over to the pair and placing a hand on each body. "Now, let's bring them home, shall we? I'm in the mood for a little fun..."

Home was only an apparition away. Jayne watched in fascination as Pandora took a single look around her flat and came up with a complete game plan within seconds. First, a spell to sound-proof the flat. Next, fetching a pair of simple chairs from the kitchen and placing them in the living room on opposing walls. The two bodies were bound with ropes to the chairs, their heads lolling forward.

Shouldn't we gag them?

"Oh, no dear. I want to hear them scream."

And with a snap of her fingers, a reviving spell was cast to wake the two up.

The last thing Tracey remembered was the sudden pain from the stunning spell, before she'd blacked out. She was groggy and sore when she woke up again. She felt... stuck and stiff. When Tracey tried to move, she realized she was bound to a chair. That was what made her really wake up. Her instincts had known something was wrong, she had just been too stupid to realize it.

Tracey looked around the unfamiliar flat, and saw John waking up across the room. "John, are you alright?" she asked, getting his attention. He just nodded, to her, but Tracey could tell he was feeling the same pain she was. They had to get out of here. Tracey knew now that they were in trouble, and all the mysterious murders that had happened lately, it wasn't much to guess they were in danger.

"Let us go!" Tracey said struggling with the ropes uselessly.

She smiled and moved to remove her outer robes, the hood along with them.

"So, your name is John," she said to the young man, walking over to him and placing a finger under his chin to tip his head up. He struggled to retreat from her touch, so she grabbed his chin more forecefully, making him meet her eyes.

"And who is the young lady with you, John?"

He didn't reply, other than with a glare. She tutted and turned to look at the girl without releasing her hold on him. "What is your name, girl?"

Her brother was just as stubborn as Tracey was, and he wasn't going to answer this woman. But Tracey was worried for him. John was one of the few people in the world that she actually cared about. And that bitch was touching him...

"Don't touch him!" she said, trying to bring the attention back to her and away from her brother. He wanted to protect her, but she wanted to protect him too. "I'll tell you if you leave him alone."

Deciding to play along - for now - she let the boy go and turned fully toward the girl.

"All right. Your name."

He stared her down with a look that brooked no argument.

Tracey was only momentarily relieved that she managed to get this woman's attention away from her brother. There was no guarantee that he was safe, but if she managed to distract their attacker... maybe he could get away.

"Tracey," she said, trying to not glare at the woman, but she was looking at her.

"Excellent," she said, looking from one to the other. "Tracey and John. I'm presuming you aren't lovers, from your earlier conversation. Siblings, I presume?"

She walked over to Tracey and fingered a lock of her blonde hair. "You are quite a pretty little thing, aren't you. Are you afraid of me?"

"He's my brother," Tracey said nodding. There was no point in denying it. No matter what their relationship was, it was obvious that the two of them were close, and could be influenced for the others' sake.

Tracey did flinch when the woman drew closer, and touched her hair. "No," Tracey lied, and she couldn't look at her when she said it either.

"Good," she said, pulling her hand away, then backhanding the girl across the face.

"I don't like people who lie to me. Realize that lying is useless, because I will get what I want, no matter what you do."

She stepped away from the pathetic girl and pulled out her box, then set it on the coffee table between the two young people.

"Tracey, I have decided that you will get to make a very important decision tonight. Do you want to know what it is?"

Tracey felt the pain from being slapped, and she had to stare down to the floor for a moment to collect her thoughts. She was scared before, but now she was terrified. Her cheek stung.

John was struggling with his ropes and called out a few obscenities at the woman not to touch Tracey. She forced herself to look up when she heard the woman speaking to her again, asking her a question. She didn't know the answer, but Tracey knew she wasn't going to like it.

"What do you want?"

She ignored the boy's curses as she turned to the girl, a look of almost surprise on her face.

"But my dear, I thought that was obvious. I want to have a little fun."

For this she would need the wand. She pulled it out to point at John, and with every ounce of her true self, she spoke a single word.

"Crucio."

John screamed, writhing in agony in his bonds, eyes closed in agony as his body was consumed by pain of the worst kind. After a few seconds, it stopped, and she turned again to the girl.

"Any questions?"

Tracey screamed when she heard the curse, and was forced to watch her brother in agony. She pulled at her own ropes, but she couldn't get free, as she watched.

"Please stop! Don't hurt him!" she begged for her to stop. "What's the decision?"

She chuckled victoriously, having already gotten the girl to beg. And she had only just begun.

She left the boy to recover and walked over to the girl, bending down until her lips were close to her ear.

"You get to decide when your brother dies."

How could she laugh? How could she torture her brother and laugh... But Tracey's begging made her stop at least, but her chest tightened in fear as the woman came closer to her, and leaned down to her ear.

She didn't want to believe what she just heard. "No," she said shaking her head. "No!" she cried out louder, her voice full of refusal and fear. She couldn't lose John. "Please, you can't!"

And with that, she raised her wand again, but this time it was pointed at Tracey.

"Crucio."

As soon as the curse hit her, Tracey felt like her head would split open from the pain. She screamed, thrashing in the chair against the rope. She couldn't even hear her brother begging for the torture to stop. All Tracey felt was pain, closing her eyes to stop her tears.

The spell stopped, and she looked down at Tracey with a look of fond condescension.

"There there, dear. The bad pain is over. For you at least. Now, what you felt, I will do to your brother over and over and over again, until you give me permission to kill him. If you don't, I'll just keep doing it. Making him scream, and twist, and begging to die. But I won't kill him if he begs me to kill him. Only if you do."

She stepped back and trained her wand once again on John.

"So, what will it be?"

Tracey's breath came out in pants when the curse finally subsided. She was crying now. She was in pain, and what this woman was telling her was making her realize they were doomed. "No I can't," she said with a sob.

She looked over at John, seeing the pained expression on his face. If only she could get free. Either one of them. It was two against one... but it was no use. They were trapped. Could they wait it out? Till someone realized they were missing and came looking for them. Or would they have already been driven crazy with the torture.

"Please. I'll do anything," she pleaded. "Kill me instead." That immediately received a protest from John, but Tracey didn't care. She didn't want to die, but she couldn't kill her brother. He was her only real family.

She shook her head in disappointment. "I'm sorry, dear, but that wasn't one of your choices. Crucio!"

John was once again enveloped in pain. By the time the spell was lifted, he was panting, tear tracks trailing down his cheeks, and eyes closed tightly as he tried to re-orient himself with painlessness.

"Now Tracey, you do understand the situation, do you not? And rest assured, while Cruciatus is most certainly a wonderful tool for torture, my tastes often run to more... bloody methods." She paused, as if in thought. "Perhaps if I started pulling his teeth one by one? I remember doing that once, and it was quite entertaining."

Tracey could only watch and cry as she watched her brother being tortured. Seeing his face contorted in pain, and she was powerless to stop it. She couldn't take it. She couldn't possibly tell someone to kill John.

"No... please stop it," Tracey sobbed and shook her head. She didn't want him to die. But she didn't want him to die in pain either. Tracey had no idea what to do.

"Will you let her go?" John asked weakly. Tracey tried to protest, but she could only sob. "Once I'm dead, will you let her go unharmed?" he demanded to know.

She looked at the young man with a winning smile. "Of course I will."

You will? But she's seen me! Us! She knows my face! What if-

"I think it's long past time we came out of hiding, dear," Pandora said to Jayne, speaking her reply aloud without care for those in the room who might see her 'speaking with herself'. "Though we know who she is as well. If she does idenfity us, we can always find her and kill her as well."

She looked to Tracey knowingly. "Isn't that right?"

"John no!" Tracey cried out. Her brother was willing to die for her, but she couldn't stand it. She couldn't just let him give up his life for her. How could this woman just decide to take one of their lives? What would Tracey do without her brother?

And then this woman was talking... but obviously not to them. But she was talking about how they were going to let her go, but kill her if she told anyone about this.

She didn't answer. Lying had already gotten her in trouble before. And if she couldn't get away without John, she didn't know if she wanted to get out at all.

"Tracey, just do it. You can get out of here," John said bringing Tracey's attention back to him. He always protected and took care of her. And when it was Tracey's chance... she couldn't. Not from a lack of will but because they were trapped.

"John I can't... I don't want you to die."

Pandora tutted through Jayne's lips. "Everyone dies, child; it's only a matter of when. Would you rather remember him as he is, or as a deformed mass that used to be your brother?"

She walked over to John and raised her right leg to land her heel into his kneecap with a sickening crack. He howled in pain, his voice already sounding hoarse from the screaming.

"Now, should I start removing fingers and toes?"

Tracey didn't need a philosophical decision on life or death with this woman. She just wanted her brother safe, and Tracey didn't want to accept that this wasn't going to happen.

"No! Stop hurting him!" she screamed when she brought her heel down on John's knee. Tracey couldn't stand it anymore. Hearing and watching John in pain.

"Tracey... I love you. Please, just do it, and get out of here," John told her. Tracey knew that he'd been through more pain than her. He wanted to protect her even now.

Tracey couldn't stop crying, and as much as she wanted to look away, she didn't. She didn't want her brother's last memories of her being a coward. "I love you too John. I love you so much," Tracey said softly, trying to find her voice through the sobs.

"Please... don't hurt him anymore. Put him out of his misery," Tracey said the pain in her voice clear.

She felt an almost orgasmic shudder at Tracey's plea, yet she needed to be certain.

Tracey sobbed. It had taken everything to say those words, but this woman was making her say it again. She didn't let her eyes leave John. She was never going to forget this moment, no matter how much she'd want to.

"Kill him," Tracey said, her voice cracking as she did. Her eyes were nearly blurry with tears. Her heart was breaking and hurting more than any crucio curse could. In moments, her brother would be gone and Tracey couldn't stop it.

Pandora nodded. "As you wish," she said with a nod. Now to do what she had come for.

She pointed the wand at John and whispered a spell that would transfigure his heart into a lump of clay. As she watched, he struggled for life as his blood ceased to pump. His eyes grew panicked and he swore at her. She watched with enjoyment as his life ebbed away, until he finally stopped struggling, his eyes going dead like the rest of him.

As he died, a whisp of black smoke puffed away from his body and entered the box that Pandora had earlier placed on the coffee table.

Tracey had been foolish to think that this woman would have simply used a killing curse. Instead, it was so much worse. Tracey cried out seeing her brother suffer and die right before her eyes.

She didn't understand what was happening, that black smoke that disappeared into a box. Tracey had a renewed struggles on her ropes though.

"John! John no! I'm sorry!" she cried, her heart aching. "Let me go to him! Let me take him home, please!"

"Don't worry, you'll get to bring him home," she said soothingly, though it would no doubt be lost on the hysterical girl. She walked over to her and ran a hand along her blonde hair, smoothing it back.

"Just remember what I said. You identify me, and I come for you, and the rest of those you love." She lifted her wand and cast a stupefy to knock the girl out again.

~*~*~*~

Magic was a wonderful thing, for in a matter of minutes, both the freshly killed corpse and the girl were moved back to an off-shoot of Knockturn Alley. With a final fond petting of the girl's hair, she returned home.
