A New Assignment
Characters: Dalrimple Gaskin [NPC], Harry Potter, Roger Davies
Setting: October 30, 2003 10 AM, Gaskin's Office in the DMLE.
Rating: PG (will edit if needed)
Summary: Aurors Potter and Davies are assigned a new case.

While he waited for Potter and Davies to arrive at their meeting, Dalrimple Gaskin stood at attention as he watched Diagon Alley from his office window. It wasn't a true window of course, not as far underground as the Ministry was, but it served just as well. Better even.

As usual, Diagon Alley was bustling with activity, and Dalrimple saw it all. But a few things caught his eye. He witnessed a child steal a galleon from his mother's purse, watched a patrol wizard defuse an altercation brewing outside the Wizard's Workshop, and spied Hermione Granger disappear inside the library. Nothing truly out of the ordinary, but he took note anyway.

With a flick of his hand, the scene in the window changed, bringing up a quieter view of Hogsmeade's High Street. Again, nothing out of the ordinary, though he was fairly certain the two young men in front of Honeyduke's where skiving off classes. Not something to be overly concerned with, though, and with another flick of his hand, Dalrimple brought up a view of Muggle London. it was the street outside the entrance to the Ministry itself, in fact. It was slightly grainy where the other views had been crystal clear, a result of interference from Muggle technology, but Dalrimple was still able to see people come and go well enough.

And his window had caught someone in particular coming into the Ministry in the middle of the night. The pictures that were in the files sitting on his desk were grainy as well, but they were clear enough to show their mystery wizard. This was going to be one hell of a case, Dalrimple could feel it already. He could only hope Davies and Potter were the right ones for the job.

Harry nodded once more to Gaskin; Harry might bend the rules occasionally, but he had no intention of jeopardising the case by letting out any details before they should be. As soon as they left the office, Harry turned to Roger. "I think I'll head down to the Department of Mysteries and ask around, see if anyone saw or knows anything. Do you want to get started on having the body sent over and talking to security? We can meet up after lunch and see what we've both learned by then."

	Roger nodded at the question. "Yeah sure that sounds fine to me. I'll wait till the healers get here to take the body, and I'll start going through the records. See if our mystery guest was here before," Roger confirmed his plans for the investigation that day. "We'll meet up at noon then, if that works for you." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Harry exited Gaskin's office, nodding at Roger's suggestion. "Right we can discuss then what each of us has learned. Hopefully we can make some sense of this all sooner rather than later." Harry was looking forward to working with Roger. He was intelligent and level headed, more so that himself, and he thought there could be a good balance. They'd probably need it.
