Samara and Jase had almost reached the doors of Pottidge's when a man off the side of the entrance screamed, startling Samara. She pulled Jason toward her instinctively, though the man wasn't coming toward them. It seemed as if he was getting sick against the wall.
"Mum, should we see if he's alright?" Jason looked up at her.
"I'm not sure if we should bother him, Jase." She was weary of the man after hearing his scream. She didn't know exactly what he'd said, but the tone was obvious enough.
"He may be in trouble. What if no one else helps him?" the boy looked pleadingly at her. She had no idea why he cared so much about some man he knew nothing about, but he was a child after all and he didn't know that some people it was better to just leave alone no matter their situation.
She sighed. "Alright, we'll see if there's anything we can do." They approached slowly toward the man and Samara called out, "Sir?" She held Jason back quite far from the strange man, just in case he was to do anything odd.
