Samara spent a little too much time out and about these days, mostly because she was afraid of being alone in the house with Jason. She made excuses to always be around him when Eli was home as well, so it was rare that the poor boy was ever by himself with either of his parents now because she just did not trust herself or her husband anymore. Now she was sorely wishing she had not turned down her mother's offer for a house elf, because that would mean another eye in the house while Eli was at work. Even though she knew it wasn't Jason in the dreams upon waking, it didn't seem to help her sanity any. Nor did the fact that her husband had been lying to her about having the nightmares himself, but that was something she did not want to worry herself with at the present time.
She had gone to her brother Benji's to pick up Jason that morning and now they were wandering the streets of Diagon Alley, doing some casual shopping as well as looking for some take-away for lunch that afternoon. Samara was still on the fence about trying the Muggle restaurants that Aggie had suggested, but you could really only eat at the same places so many times before they became tired.
"Mum, can we go visit Da at work?" Jason asked her, squeezing her hand as he gazed at the shop windows that they passed.
Samara sighed. They had lunch with Eli from time to time while he was at work, but today was definitely not going to be one of those days. Jason had no idea that they had argued the night before, but she wasn't going to tell him that. With the nightmares returning last night, it felt like salt poured into an already aching wound. "No, love, your father has to work through lunch today. He'll see you this evening though.
"Here, how about we browse the potions ingredients? Didn't you say you had a polyjuice potion to brew?" She smiled warmly at him, seeing his face light up. She did not even notice the man standing on the street as she steered her son toward the entrance of Pottidge's Cauldron Shop.
