Who: Percy and Ginny Weasley
What: Getting his brother sister out of trouble, the usual
Where: Percy's flat, Ministry of Magic
When: November 2, 2003 - 12:30ish

Percy had woken up early the night before from the recurrance of that terrible nightmare. He was used to recurring nightmares - had the same one for the last five years - but this one had nothing to do with the Battle or Fred or accusations of any kind. Frankly, it confused him, and it worried him that Daphne had something similar happen as well.

And that bloody mark on his neck hadn't faded yet. He'd asked George about it, and of course his brother claimed to have nothing to do with it. Typical.

He'd finally begun preparing to head over to the Burrow for the afternoon when he heard the floo come to life.

"Excuse me, Mister Weasley?"

He lay the cloak he'd just picked up over his arm and walked over to address the face that had appeared in his fireplace. "Yes? What can I do for you?"

"Well, Sir, there's a situation at the Ministry that we require you for."

Percy winced at the man's bad English. Just what he needed, a work emergency to keep him from his family's side, not that they really wanted him there anyway, but it was the principle of the matter. "Isn't this something that could wait until Tuesday? I believe I had left word that I've a family emergency."

"That's why I'm contacting you, Sir," the man replied. "Normally we'd call Arthur for this sort of thing, but we know him and Molly thought of Potter like a son and we didn't want to bother them if we didn't have to, and I've seen you at the DMLE staff meetings and I figured you might want to take care of this one yourself."

Percy sighed and moved to pinch the bridge of his nose. "And what, pray tell, is it I need to take care of?"

"Your sister, Sir."

He froze. His sister?! "Pardon me, but... are you certain you mean my sister, and not my brother?" Because that would be the more logical option.

"Oh, no Sir. Definitely your sister. Ginevra Weasley."

There it was, then. "I will be there momentarily. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, rather than my parents."

"Yes, Sir," the man said before disappearing from the fireplace.

Percy stood there several moments, resisting the urge to scream. That would be undignified, and it wouldn't help either. His sister. SISTER. At the DMLE. His face instinctively froze into a professional, if stony, expression as he put on his cloak, grabbed a pinch of floo powder, and stpped into the fireplace.

He quickly made his way through the Ministry, and upon his arrival at the DMLE, was explained exactly what had occurred to result in his sister being held in custody. He simply nodded in stony silence as the story unfolded. When he was asked if he would accept responsibility for his sister upon release, he agreed and signed the appropriate papers. Moments later, he was finally escorted down a featureless hallway, finally approaching where his sister was held.

He stood before the barred and spelled door, an eyebrow raised as he took in the sight of his bloody sister in a jail cell. He didn't speak, merely looked at her, as if expecting her to disappear and all of this to be a dream.

The twins.

She felt a pang at their mention and tried to push that aside with a bigger bite of the sandwich and a swallow of tea.

Too much to deal with all at once. Fred. Harry. Anyone else, and she would just go insane. Outright insane, and who could blame her?

"I'll bet your owl has all the takeaway routes memorized." A small smile. "Don't lie, you know it's true. And if you thought you could live off a good tikka masala, you absolutely would."

He took a sip of his tea and smiled around the cup. "All right, I will admit Hermes is quite the skilled owl. But... the best takeaway is from some of the Muggle places nearby, so I can't sent him. It's not bad, though, as I can usually just stop in on the way home from work. No fuss, no muss, and as long as I clean up shortly after, it doesn't leave a smell in the apartment that a good spell can't clean."

A quirk. Merlin, tikka masala did sound really good right about then. "Perhaps I should get some Indian for dinner. Though I doubt mum will let me go to eat elsewhere, and I can just imagine her reaction to my bringing some to the Burrow." He cleared his throat and did his best impression of his mother that, while not perfect, was rather good for someone described as not having a sense of humour. "What, do you think I'm not capable of handling funeral arrangements and feeding my family? Now go put away that garbage and eat what I put down in front of you."

She raised an eyebrow at that. "That's pretty spot on, Perce. Disturbingly so. If mum ever needs a break, you can just slot yourself right in."

For a minute or two, she concentrated on finishing off her sandwich half, then reached for another piece. A packet of crisps would have been just the thing right then, but she wasn't about to complain about her free, home prepared meal.

She made a mental note to order tikka masala on his behalf sometime during the week. Maybe have it delivered right to his desk or something.

"Of course I can," he countered with an equally raised eyebrow. "That's what she's been training me for, after all."

He was glad to see her eat, as he doubted she'd done much of that over the last two days. He finished his own meal, then took the dishes in his hands to bring to the kitchen. "The guest washroom is in the hall, if you wanted to clean up some before we head to the Burrow."

With that, he went to start the spell that would clean the dishes for him.

"I know where the washroom is." She polished off her sandwich in a few massive bites. She had been pretty hungry, after all. "I did help you move in, remember?"

She was certain he did. He tended to have a long memory, and anyway, he probably made lists about such things just in case.

Either way, she really could stand to clean herself up and try to appear and least somewhat presentable. As for mum's state once she got home... well...

She'd deal with that when she got there.
