Percy felt a flush of defensiveness, but quickly put it in its place before it could colour his words. Yet he couldn't stop the slight straightening of his spine, nor the pulling of the comforting hand from Hermione's shoulder. He did, however, reach down and pluck the cold cup of tea from Hermione's fingers.
He then looked up and took a tentative step toward Ginny, but paused, not quite knowing what to do or say. Anyone else in the family would have pulled her in for a hug, but Percy had always had difficulty with such overt displays of affection. Instead, his instincts took over.
"I wanted to be here for the family," he said simply and truthfully. "I was just about to get Hermione a fresh tea and something to eat. How about I get you something as well?"
