How are you? It's been far too long since we've talked, much less seen each other. I walk by the shop all the time when I'm taking my dog for a walk, I'll make a point of stopping in at some point if you have time for an old friend :)

[The letter isn't addressed, giving no indication who it's for or from (you can't be too careful these days, after all), and in fact it's something of a miracle that it managed to find its way to the recipient at all.  The owl delivering it pecks insistently at the window until it's let in, and once the letter is removed it waits impatiently for a reply, hopping periodically and pecking at the recipient's hand when it thinks he's taking too long.  The letter itself seems to be hurredly written, penmanship something of a low priority for the author in favour of getting the words onto the page as quickly as possible.] 

R-   Thought I would see how you're faring in light of the latest in the Prophet.  I hope the damned owl finds you - it was nearly impossible to instruct properly, so if it seems a bit dodgy just keep in mind it's gone through a few lessons - and if this is anyone other than Mr R I assure you that I will find you and a tetchy owl will be the least of your worries.  To Mr R himself, however, I will merely say that if he has any interest in returning things to their proper order he should return this owl with a time and location of his choosing.  It knows where to find me.  - A friend
