It had been weeks without Drifter and Kaisa was finally starting to realize that the man had probably forgotten about her. She had been a flavor of the week, not the epic romance that would last years to come. And that might have been OK in the long run, had he not left her with a still lasting memory of him, the craving of his blood.

Even this long after, she could still taste the crimson pleasure on her tongue and the feeling that nothing in this world could stop her or make her feel lesser. Kaisa had never felt that before. She'd always been too quiet, too afraid to be herself and to be noticed thanks to her gift. Even now, her body craved it even more than it craved his touch.

But she was trying to ignore it. Kaisa had gone on with her life, writing and working on school and all that was important to her before Drift. The only addition was the restlessness and the nervous ticks that started to appear, constant tapping of her pen, or light scratching at the inside of her arm. She might have even licked the few droplets of blood that bloomed the first few times, but it hadn't been the same.

Even now, her pen was tapping on her desk as she tried to write her paper for her world lit class in hopes of passing.
