Who: Brenner and Nadishiko

School was almost starting, the seasons were changing, and Nadishiko had managed to find her future in a single moment. She'd always heard of how her parents met, so it hadn't been so odd to her when it had happened one day. Nope, the odd thing was now dealing with it now that it had happened. Brenner was handsome, but they'd only just met. She didn't know anything about him beyond the interesting accent and the fact that he was probably the sexiest man she'd ever met.

Which was why she'd invited him over for the afternoon. Nadi had texted him inviting him over to apartment to have some time to talk and learn more about each other. Once he'd accepted, she'd spent most of the morning prepping her place for the man to come. Everything had mostly been shoved into one of the closets of her apartment and her bed had been made. The only area she didn't have to worry about was the corner devoted to her music, the stand and sheet music were always ready for her to practice or perform.

Nadi herself was wearing one of her favorite outfits, feeling like it was better to dress nicely with the man. He always seemed determine to look his best. She only hoped that he didn't frown on her own fashion too much.

With one final glance around the place, she gave a small nod to hereself. It was as good as it was going to get.

Brenner was excited to see Nadi again. He was adjusting fairly swiftly to having a girlfriend - a mate, as she put it - and he really liked spending time with her. When she had invited him over, well, he had been planning on spending the afternoon reading. This was a much better offer.

He didn't wear a tie, not for a casual afternoon out, but he did wear a nice button down shirt. This one was short sleeved, with a blue and purple checkered pattern. When he saw her, he smiled. She looked... Well, to Brenner's uninitiated mind and eyes, she looked like she was heading out to a costume party. But that didn't mean she wasn't beautiful.

"Hello," he said, and leaned in to greet her with a short kiss. "I've brought us a movie to watch, if you like."

Fashion was something to express herself with for Nadi. She loved bright and vibrant outfits, anything that had a bit of a Japanese flair, and anything that caught the eye. It didn't matter if people thought it was odd, it was her.

Smiling and returning the kiss, she let him into the small apartment. "Awesome. Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I have sodas and snacks for us as well." She said, motioning to the little coffee table that held a six pack of coke and various sweets and snacks from a nearby bakery, including a couple of slices of carrot cake.

"So how's your day going?"

"All right, thanks, and yours?" he replied as he came and sat down. He took a can of coke, popping the top.

"Listen... you were serious about all this marriage stuff, weren't you?" he asked. "I mean, your rabbit senses told you I'm the one for you, and that's never wrong and won't change, right?"

He spoke very carefully and deliberately, not wanting there to be anything left up to chance or misinterpretation in this conversation.

It was good, got some practice in and then cleaned." She said with a sheepish smile before grabbing her own soda to sip at. Once he sat down, she slipped beside him and smiled over at him, feeling a bit excited and nervous all at once to have him over at her home.

"Uh yeah? Mates are forever. You're the one for me and I'm the one for you. There's no changing.... do you want to change?" She asked, suddenly worried that he didn't like her at all.

"No! No, I like you, I like you a lot," he assured her. I just..."

He blushed, and reached for the bag he'd brought with him. "I brought me laptop," he said. "I thought... I mean, we've only known each other a wee while, but since it's forever an' all..." He swallowed nervously. "I thought you might like to meet me mam. We could call her, if you wanted."

Brenner's suggestion actually managed to catch Nadishiko off guard. While she'd hoped that Brenner would accept the situation, she'd been ready for him to call her insane and reject the whole situation. Instead he was taking it full force.

"Sure! I mean if you want to introduce me to her already, I'd be happy to meet your mom." She'd be beyond nervous, but excited as well. This was going to be her mother in law. "She's not going to hate me, right?"

"Ah, no." Brenner laughed. "She'll be that thrilled that I've found meself a nice girl like you. Just... maybe don't mention marriage or babies in the first call, yeah? Or mates or forever. We'll just tell her you're me girlfriend and ease her into the rest."

He opened his laptop and started booting it up, then logged into Skype. His mother was online so, after a look at Nadi, he double clicked.

The Skype noise sounded.

His mother picked up.

"Eee, Brenner!" she greeted him excitedly. "I was just thinking about you an' all. D'ye remember Sheila doon the road? She's putting together a wee knitting circle and we're knitting you some jumpers for the colder weather. It's coming, isn't it?"

"Er, yeh. Listen, mam, there's someone here I want you to meet," Brenner cut her off before she could say anything truly humiliating. "Her name is Nadi, and, well... she's me girlfriend."

There was silence for a moment, then a high pitched squeal emitted from the speaker that made Brenner check his computer to make sure it was still working. It was. His mother, on the other hand, was practically levitating with excitement.

"Let'us see! Go on, son!"

Nadi was starting to feel more nervous each minute. She'd never really mat someone else's parents before now,so it was nerve wracking. What was she supposed to say? What was she supposed to do? She could feel the urge to switch to rabbit and hide, but managed to keep it down for now.

She listened to Brenner talk to his mother before then turning the laptop towards her. Taking a deep breath, she gave a quick wave to the older woman. "Hello mam, it's nice to meet you."

"Eee, and she's that polite, too," Rita Mahoney crowed gleefully. "It's nice to meet you too, pet. Naddy, did Brenner say your name was? Short for Nadine, is it? Our Valerie doon awa' owa the road has a wee babby called Nadine, beautiful name it is an' all."

Then she paused, frowning slightly. "And ye can't understand a word we're saying, can ye?" she laughed. "Brenner, will you translate for your old mammy?"

"Yes, mammy," Brenner said obediently. To Nadi, he said, "She said you're polite, and that it's nice to meet you. Then she asked if Nadi was short for Nadine, and that our Valerie who lives," he paused, making sure to Americanize the next part instead of Geordie-ing it up the way he was used to, "over the road from mam, she has a baby called Nadine and mam thinks it's a beautiful name an' all."

This might be harder than he thought. They were from two different worlds, Nadi and his mother, and while they seemed perfectly happy to talk to each other, the language barrier might prove a hassle. Ah well. His mam was pleased as punch to meet a girlfriend of his. That would be all that mattered.

It was difficult for Nadi to understand the woman but she was trying honestly.It was a good thing that Brenner was willing to translate. "Oh! Nadi is actually short for Nadishiko. I'm half Japanese and was named after my grandmother actually." She gave a small chuckle. "But I didn't want to force poor Brenner to try to say my full name all the time."

She smoothed her hands over skirt. "Though it really is a pleasure to meet you. You did an amazing job with Brenner." At least as far as Nadi knew. Suddenly, she wished she knew more about his mother, or even just about him so she could have more to say.

"Nadish..." His mother shook her head, but she was still smiling. "And it wasn't exactly a chore, pet. He was a lovely lad. Still is. Best thing I've done in me life, he is."

"Give it up, mammy. She doesn't mind being called Nadi." Brenner laughed, but blushed at the praise. "Anyway, we'd love to chat longer, but we've a movie to watch an' all. Just thought you'd like to meet her," he went on. She pretended to pout, but signed off with a merry wave, and then they were "alone again".

"She likes you," he told Nadi.

"Nadi is easier. Trust me." She smiled, used to people having issues with her name. Japanese wasn't that common around here after all, and even less so in Kansas.

Nadi hated to admit it, but she was a little grateful that it was a short call. She was sure that she'd end up loving his mother since she seemed so sweet and wonderful, but she also was worried that she'd do or say something wrong without getting some advice from Brenner first.

"Yeah? I hope so. She seems like a wonderful person. You two are close?"

"We are. I never really knew my dad, so she was all I had. We were all we needed," Brenner nodded.

The movie he'd brought was a throwback to the nineties, one of the hundreds of terrible teen movies made during that era that were universally awful but somehow still so entertaining.

"I brought 'Scream'," he said, suddenly slightly nervous about his choice. "I love all the old nineties classics, you know? And this is one of the best ones an' all." He put in the DVD, and pressed play.

That was a little sad. Nadi couldn't imagine not having her father in her life, but her daddy was important to her. It was good he had such a wonderful mother at least.

"Scream? I've never seen it,but pop it in." she said with a wave towards the tv and the dvd player. Once he'd popped it in, she waited for him to sit down before snuggling against him. "So what's this about anyways?"

Snuggling was new. Not just for Brenner and Nadi as a couple, but for Brenner altogether. The sum total of his experience was a few kisses at parties, Spin the Bottle style. He'd never had a girlfriend that would sit there with him and just snuggle. Her body felt like it was made to slot neatly alongside his, and the warm weight of her against him felt lovely.

"It's a wee bit scary," he warned her. "If you're not into scary movies, you should probably tell'us now so I can change it, yeah?"

Brenner was warm and Nadi felt herself naturally relaxing against him. Honestly, if she could have this every day then she would be the happiest girl around. She lightly laid her head against his chest and smiled up at him.

"I don't mind scary movies, but I might jump or hide against you, if that's alright?" She asked hoping it would be fine since she was fully intending to use it as an excuse to cuddle more.

"Ah, you've uncovered me evil plan," Brenner chuckled as the movie rolled. It didn't take long to get into the killing part of the movie, and he tightened his arms around Nadi when she jumped and cowered.

"Do you... um. Do you want me to spend the night perhaps?" he asked when it was over. "N-Not for that. I don't think I'm ready for that. But just to sleep, perhaps?"

"Super evil too." she giggled and winked at him as she relaxed into his hold. It was nice to be held and protected as she let herself get scared by the film, despite the fun of it all.

His suggestion surprised Nadi though. She hadn't expected the suggestion,but she kind of liked the idea of sleeping beside him. "I... I think I would like that." She said with a shy smile. "I mean if you'd like to?"

"I think I would," Brenner nodded. "I'd have to nip out and get me pajamas, but that wouldn't take too long." Because the last thing he wanted was to sleep in his underwear - or worse, less.

"Maybe we just don't tell me mam that I slept here," he asked. "Not that she'll be angry, she'll probably just start bugging'us for grandbabies or something equally humiliatin'."

"I might have some pj pants here that could fit." Her brothers stayed over often when they came to the city and she had some of their clothes in her closet that they'd forgotten time and again and Brenner seemed about the same height as most of them.

"And don't worry. I wont tell if you wont." She joked, even if she really didn't think it would ever come out. But the thought of kids immediately made her blush and look away. "Yeah... not so sure about that yet..."

"I'm not much of a fan of pink," Brenner said doubtfully. He, of course, had no way of knowing about Nadi's brothers and their forgetfulness in packing! "But... I suppose it will be okay."

Someone's throat was slashed on the screen and he jumped in spite of himself, clutching her closer. They were nearing the end, anyway... so he leaned over and kissed Nadi, letting himself sink into her as he boldly pushed her back into the couch.

"Don't worry, they're not pink." She almost laughed at the idea of her eldest brother Asher wearing pink. "I have a dark blue pair for sure and maybe another couple of pairs..."

Focused on thinking of just what she had to offer him, she almost missed the death until Brenner jumped. Nadi smiled up at him and returned the soft kiss with her own. She just loved the way that their lips fit, and their bodies as she laid back on the couch, her hands sliding around his neck to pull him close.

Before he really knew what he was doing, he was on top of Nadi on the couch, kissing her deeply but tenderly. "This is okay, right?" he asked, a little breathlessly. He didn't start up again until she gave her consent, but once she did, he dived right back in. Kissing was awesome, and he loved the way her body felt under his.

Apparently, he loved it a little too much. Becoming aware of a problem, he pulled away quickly, scooting back to the other side of the couch and putting his hands over his lap. "S-sorry," he stammered. "Give'us a minute."

"Yeah,this is alright."She said almost immediately, eager to continue to kissing. Nadishiko had no desire to stop any time soon. It felt too good, too perfect to finally be with him, her perfect match. And Brenner really was so far.

But then he pulled away, making Nadi blink in confusion until she saw where his hands were and the girl chuckled softly. "It's alright. I think it's normal that happens, right? I'm not gonna be upset."

"I just need to calm down," Brenner said helplessly. Hoping to make her laugh, he bowed his head as if speaking to his crotch. "Oi, you down there, no one asked for you to show up."

When he looked up again it was with a lopsided grin. "Mind of its own," he shrugged. "What can y'do?" Feeling slightly more under control, he kissed her again.

Nadi chuckled and shook her head. "It's fine. I can assure you that I'm probably feeling the same thing, it's just easier to hide as a girl." She winked at him.

But soon enough, the kissing was back on and she was happily sliding her hands down his back, almost wishing she could slide under his shirt, but not wanting to push it.
