Meredith found it easy to have dinner going at her own home, since all she had to do was set up a crock pot for herself and Caleb. Making dinner for Adam was a task that was much more likely to be interrupted, though, and so she didn't tend to make things that took a lot of work and attention there either. The slow cooking was less appropriate though since she didn't live there to set a pot when she left and have it ready for him when he came home from whatever he ended up doing that day.
She smelled him before she heard or saw him, though part of that was the fact that she left one window open. She smiled to herself as she put the finishing touches on her cooking and turned her attention to the dessert she had left to cool, starting to frost the cupcakes - she liked them better than regular cake and they were fun to eat too.
His hand on her back and the nip on her neck cued her that he wasn't speaking solely about the food and she grinned, arching her back slightly so her body pressed into his. "I should hope it does, I've been here for hours." Teasing, obviously, she didn't mind how long she'd been there and she most certainly wasn't bothered by his greeting.
