Drifter ([info]chaosforcash) wrote in [info]outofshadowsrpg,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Drifter, Keara, and open to Aden
WHAT: Dead body discovered
WHEN: 8/27; around 11pm.
WHERE: College campus parking lot
RATING: Likely High...it's Drifter.

With a soft sigh Drifter looked on; a puff of smoke escaping his lips as the vampire took another drag from his cigarette. The red and blue flashing lights had drawn the attention of the undead musician. Yet as he looked on at the frenzy of cops and coeds milling about the campus parking lot Jeremiah just felt bored. The body had been discovered just a few hours ago; another one of his countless victims. In all honesty Jeremiah had just swung by the college to drop off his little song bird, but seeing the commotion piqued his curiosity. Sadly instead of finding something of interest the vamp just lazily watched as the police started to tape off the area.

For decades he had been feeding off the human population now, leaving countless corpses in his wake. For all that though Drifter never once felt even an ounce of regret, much less any remorse or guilt. With few exceptions he counted the majority of the mortal population as little more than cattle, and the dead girl laying out in the parking lot had been just a means to sate his unquenchable blood lust. As another drag of smoke was taken at last as the vampire found himself bored of watching the police putter about. He was just about to turn and head back to his motorcycle, yet something out of place caught his attention. There by the body he spotted a woman, whose hair was colorful indeed. Those enhanced senses of his came in quite handily as Jeremiah studied her from a distance. Such an odd thing she was yet clearly the woman was a cop too. With the slightest arch of his eyebrow Drifter looked on, wondering if there might be more to the woman that meets the eye.

He made no effort to draw any nearer, nor did he try to leave either. Instead the man in the leather jacket just stood there in the shadows, smoking and silently looking on as the crowd of coeds started coming out to see what all the fuss was about. With a smile, hidden behind the hand holding a cigarette, he listened to the cries from a student who saw her dead friend. Such a heart wrenching sound to be sure, and one that almost brought on a full chuckle. Still Jeremiah managed to hold his tongue, and continued to look on from his safe distance. Maybe tonight wouldn't be as boring as he initially feared...

So much for a nice Saturday night back home with Netflix and an extra large pizza. The poor woman had just been slipping onto the couch to eat when the call had come in. It seemed that their serial killer had struck again and with her and Aden as the acting detectives for the case, she had to drop everything and head on in.

So she pulled on her jacket and made her way out to the university where they were already starting to rope off the scene. She'd called Aden on the way, but only managed to leave a message, hoping that he would get it and come soon enough.

The most important thing was to get the crowd of people to dissipate. so the integrity of the scene was maintained. It was also a good chance to see if there were any familiar faces. More than a few culprits returned to the scene of the crime.

Mostly it was college kids gawking and sending texts on their phone about what was going on, but there were a few odd ones. Keara caught a quick glance of a man standing towards the back. She would've tried to get closer, but there was a sob from some poor girl as she tried to enter the scene. "Mam, I'm sorry, but I cant allow you any closer...." Fucking hell, where was Aden when you needed him.

Aden showed up about fifteen minutes later, stepping out of his car, and holding a bottle of soda. He took a long drink from it, making his way towards the scene and nodded to the overseeing officer, flashing him his badge, and then looking towards Keara as he stepped near. Grinning, he looked her over and raised a brow, "I like this view much, much better you know."

He winked and then moved towards the body, shoving past a few people and then looked at some of the officers, "Get these fucking people out of here. Pepper spray 'em if you have too, I don't need them fucking up my crime scene... fucking assholes," He looked towards Keara and pulled another bottle of water out of his pocket, tossing it to her and then moved towards the body to inspect it. A young woman.

He placed his hand at her neck, twisting it around, and then frowning. He rubbed his forehead and stood up, taking another long drink before looking towards one of the Lieutenants that was talking about no witnesses and blah blah blah. He rolled his eyes, "It's the same guy, not a copy cat. There's no elation here... I'm hungry, Keara do you want a cheeseburger?" HE looked to one of the younger officers, "Lenny's down the street there. Greasiest sons a bitches you can find, I want a double cheeseburger, bacon. Get Keara whatever she wants." He handed the kid some money, "Get yourself something too."

He walked past Keara and began to scan the throng of students, something felt wrong. There was an aura, within that crowd he could sense the voices, mostly fear, curiosity, anger, ... arousal that one was weird. But there was another one too. It didn't hold the others, maybe a bit of curiosity. Yet there was amusement? And boredom. He looked back towards Keara, giving her one of his patented 'something's not right here' looks, then looked back at the body, "Skin wasn't cold, it wasn't long ago... he's still here."

A wry smile graced his lips as Drifter watched the newcomer move through the crowd towards the body. Even from this distance it was child's play to hear every word uttered with his enhanced senses, and the vampire actually wondered just how amusing it would be if the cops started randomly pepper spraying the curious coeds. Oh there'd be such chaos, and fear too, yet despite the man's lack of apparent manners Miah doubted he'd get to see something so funny. It was the words 'copy cat' that struck Jeremiah as bizarre though, and after a moment of pondering it the vamp realized that the police thought him to be some sort of serial killer.

Hell he killed and feed to be sure, yet never once had the man thought of himself in such a light. After all being on top of the food chain came with serious perks, like never having to feel bad about preying on the lesser species when it came time to eat. When he heard the man order a greasy burger once again Drifter almost laughed; this time at the sweet irony. Would the cows and pigs ever rise up and try to track the detective down for feasting on their own? And if they did would the cop really even give a shit?

With a slight shake of his head Drifter took a final drag from the cigarette before starting to turn away. It was only the barely whispered words of the cop that drew back his focus, and genuine interest sprang forth when he heard Aden tell the female that 'he's still here.' No human could know such a thing, yet like Kaisa this one seemed to possess some sort of sight. Still instead of feeling fear or a need to flee the vampire just turned back to study both the detectives more intently.

Catching sight of Aden, she was grateful. It wasn't a question of weither he would come or not, but if he'd get the message in time. Their days off just seemed to be dwindling in the face of this case. "Haha jackass. You know I don't tend to go girl when on the job. People don't respect me enough." Like a few of the fuckers in their precinct.

"Give me a double cheeseburger and chili cheese fries." She smirked and followed after her partner. Leave it to him to be hungry on a murder scene. She simply knew that this would most likely be their last chance to eat tonight. " I already checked, bite marks and drained dry. It's the same MO and I'm sure the prints will be the same again."

Keara caught the look and nodded. Aden's perception was good. It helped to have an empath around on shit like this, which was one of the reasons they got this case. "I had a feeling." It wasn't much of one, but it would make sense. like Aden said, the woman wasn't cold yet. She was found early enough that the culprit leaving could be obvious. "direction?" She asked, hoping he'd have some idea.

"I respect you just fine, and it's much nicer to look at then your bony ass when you're a dude, just saying," He grinned, loving to poke fun at his partner, then looked back into the crowd, just scanning slowly, tilting his head, "It's not that precise. The emotions are subdued, they're not excitement, fear, anger, the loud ones... just curiosity. Which also sucks when I have a bunch of dipshits around here trying to decide if they knew who this person was."

He then looked back to the cop, "Belay my first order, make sure any students taken back to their dorms are escorted..." Liam then looked back to Keara, "This guy's been eluding us for awhile, the jackass is a vampire and yet hides in the shadow because he's a fucking pussy. I doubt they're really here..." He winked to her very deliberately to show he was just trying to goad an emotion out there somewhere, and get a sense of where they might be. At the very least, if they were close enough to even hear him.

"How old was the victim, and what's her name?"

The exchange between the two detectives was strange to be sure, and it led Jeremiah to wonder if they were both stoned or if the blue haired one could somehow alter her very gender. Such a thing would be a rarity, yet Drifter was a hundred year old vamp...so he supposed weirder things could happen. He did however have to consider the remark about prints but after thinking it over Miah just shrugged it off, knowing full well that he wasn't exactly in any database since he had been born so long ago. Plus the fact that his home town had long since been swallowed up by the Gulf ensured that his former human identity had been washed away.

When the order was given to escort the students back to their dorms though another sigh escaped Drifter. It wasn't as if he was hungry anymore but it might have been amusing to leave the two another present. Still when the infantile name calling began it wasn't anger that Jeremiah felt, but a touch of disappointment. Such a cheap attempt to goad him on just seemed somehow...mundane. Oh it was his own fault for thinking that the two would somehow provide him with far more entertainment.

Perhaps the game just needed to have the stakes raised. No longer interested in the coeds, for now, the vampire caught sight of the young officer who had been sent on the food run. The poor bastard seemed so green, and that fact that he was sent alone to run the errand just provided the window the vampire was looking for. With impossible speed Drifter slid away, and when the officer cut through the empty alley Miah was already there waiting for him. The silver blade he carried slashed with such inhuman grace and a second later the corpse just hit the ground.

Instead of feeding the vamp just took a second to leave behind a little gift for the detective, before tossing the body away in the dumpster. This time he did chuckle softly to himself, as he wondered just what the two would make of it all...the pool of blood on the pavement, with Aden's cash and the cops badge left behind. Not wishing to miss a thing Drifter was back in the blink of an eye, having been gone for just a moment. The darkness around him gave way to the small flame of his lighter, and as he lit up another cigarette Jeremiah softly hummed to himself as he savored this new amusing twist.

"I know you respect me, otherwise I would've asked for a new partner years ago. It's some of the other asshats. Plus my ass is awesome no matter the gender." She smirked at the heckling, used to it. It was just the kind of asshole Aden was, and that was ok with Keara.

"Great, so curiousity doesn't necessarily mean murderer." But it was the best they were getting at the moment. None of the prints had matched anyone yet, and vampires weren't easy to discover if they didn't want to be usually. Keara had already checked over any and all that were in the database back at the precinct.

It was a good idea to send students home with escorts, but she was a little worried at spreading their help so thin. There was little choice though as she looked around the crowd in hopes of catching any sort of reaction to the insults that Aden was spouting, but there was nothing.

"Victim's name was Adrea Wilson, age 19. She's a sophomore here. Last seen leaving the dining hall at 7:45. After that, there's a 20 min time span before her body was found, no one saw her coming or going with anyone. No one seemed to dislike her either according to her roommate." Keara had gotten all the information she could, but it hadn't been much. It was the poor roommate that had found her, getting worried when the poor girl hadn't come back.

"Bullshit, everyone hates a sophomore," Aden offered and looked down at the victim. Crossing his arms over his chest, he took another drink then looked back towards her, "But maybe. Whatever, obviously whoever is doing this is doing it indiscriminately. He doesn't care who or what he kills, just getting a fix. Probably really just feeding, it's a vampire. They think they're so smug, but really they're just vermin, like rats, hiding in the shadows waiting to pounce later." He rolled his eyes.

He tossed his cup into a trash and looked down at his watch. The recruit hadn't left too long ago, but it was taking him a bit. He'd give him a few more minutes before calling to check on him. "Notify next of kin, let them know what happened. We'll give them about a day before questioning them... " Not that it was really going to matter. It was a random killing, he was certain of it.

He did begin to put a map together in his head though, "How many have been on campus now?" He then looked at the crowd still around and rolled his eyes, "Go home! If you spend any more time around here I'll arrest you all for disrupting a crime scene! Go away..." Then something clicked in his mind. That aura, that feeling, it had weakened and vanished. Then he felt the sensation of fear and then silence in the distance, he looked up and then back to Keara, before pointing to the lieutenant, "Call the recruit. Now..." When there was no response, Aden pulled his gun out and began to move for the alley way quickly. He pointed to the other officers, "We're dealing with a supernatural, remember the training I gave you. No one leaves alone."

And he began running until he spotted the recruit on the ground, and then shouted a growl, "Damn it!" He moved towards him to check the wounds. This one was different, this was an attack, not just a feeding. "Keara, go tell the lieutenant to set up a perimeter around the campus. Call the president of the University, tell them to get their asses down here."

The faintly glowing ember of the cigarette moved as a little smile tugged at the corner of Drifter's lips when the blue haired female mentioned how awesome her ass looked. Even from his safe distance away the vampire's keen sight told him that she wasn't wrong. The rest of their exchange held no real interest for him, yet when the male detective froze mid shouting Jeremiah's curiosity paid off. The sudden panic, that look of fear for the now dead officer, all of it was quite entertaining.

He honestly considered following behind to see the scene play out in the alley, yet another golden opportunity had presented it self in that frenzy. The wave of fear washed over the coeds still lingering around as they watched all the cops chase after the detective with their weapons drawn. But as all eyes, and all the police raced to follow the man Drifter found himself smirking at the fact that the body of the dead girl had been left alone.

Oh there was a crowd still about however with the focus now moving towards the alley it was such a simple thing to slip around while remaining unseen. Another burst of impossible speed later and the corpse of Adrea Wilson had vanished. Vampiric strength made it a breeze to slip away again with the dead girl, and a few minutes later saw Drifter well clear of the campus property. "Sorry darling, but looks like ya can still be of use to me after all."

The sewer grate offered the perfect place to go and once below the streets Jeremiah set the body down and pulled out his knife again. With the blade in hand he worked quickly in dismembering the corpse; severing limbs at the joints and rending them clean off from the torso with a touch more power. When all the piece had been removed he scattered them into the murky water, grinning as any hope of retrieving further evidence was all but bashed. Work finished he slipped topside again, and after pocketing the blade Miah strolled back towards the campus while shrouded by the dark of night.

Keara fought the urge to roll her eyes at her partner's little comments but kept quiet. She'd let him take charge for the time being. He was the one with more of a lead than she had.

"Next of kin is already being notified. I handled that before you got here." She'd sent another car down to the girl's home. It was fortunate they lived in the same city, but it was not something that anyone wanted to do in the first place. They'd have to go visit the family later to see if they could give any leads, but that would have to wait for another day.

"This is the third one found on campus, the fifth student though." Keara wondered if the vampire just preferred students, or if they blended best on the campus. She had been lost on that train of thought when Aden called for people to follow. Keara went without thinking much, but it was two blocks away when she realized that everyone had left with them, even the beat cops that were there to protect the scene.

Letting out a loud swear, she turned back without a second thought to get back to the scene only to find the corpse missing. "Fuck!" She hissed out before pulling out her cell and calling up Aden. "We're fucked here!"
