Who: Ted Holloway/Darth Vader, Claudia Walker (NPC)
When: Late. During the third wave of the Camelot assault.
Where: Downstairs hallway, CORE HQ.
What: Claudia runs into Ted. She thought he was on CORE's side, but apparently he's not. She, understandably, is pissed. Long story short: she cracks one of Ted's ribs and Vader comes out to play.
Somewhere on the main floor, there was a person in a lot of pain. As Ted neared, slowing from a run to a jog as he zoned in on an exact location, he realized that there were two people. Both were injured and one was near to unconsciousness - although he wasn't particularly familiar with the second, Ted realized that he recognized the Force presence from an earlier Camelot briefing. Whoever the guy was, Claudia Walker had injured him badly.
He rounded the corner into a hallway, lightsaber in hand, to discover a load of rubble and a woman looming over the body of a fallen strike team member. The crumpled man wasn't much older than Ted, actually, and the realization prompted a lurch of the stomach.
Claudia heard footsteps and whirled, anger and fear giving way to relief.
"Holloway! Thank God, come give me a--"
Wait. Claudia's eyes narrowed as she gave the newcomer a once over and noticed the commlink in his ear. She wasn't stupid, whatever her day-to-day interactions with Ted might have suggested. Selfish and power-hungry, sure, but stupid? No. You didn't survive for any span of time inside CORE without a brain in your head.
"You're working for them?" Claudia's pitch raised to an angry shriek. "YOU'RE WORKING FOR THEM?"
"Claudia, please, just calm down. It's not too late to--"
"BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL," the brunette bellowed. Apparently her ability to listen to reason had disappeared around the time she'd acquired the nasty cut on the side of her head. Ted wasn't particularly surprised by her betrayal or rage, but he couldn't help but sigh in regret. This? This was going to be ugly.
He'd never seen her transform before, and it was truly something to behold. There were no accompanying effects, no light or music - she was just suddenly a man. A rather tall man rushing in Ted's direction.
Ted started out with an attempt to be gentle. Rubble lay everywhere, the result of Claudia's rampage. Using the Force to levitate objects had become second nature; he gestured with a finger and a clump of ceiling tile went flying for Claudia's head. Ted could feel Vader's disgust, his disappointment. If you're too weak to defend yourself properly, stand aside and allow me. Ted ignored the voice. He'd become good at that, good at tuning out Vader when the reincarnate became overbearing.
Perhaps he should have listened, though. The debris ricocheted off of Claudia like it were made of foam rubber, not so much as scratching her. A fist connected with Ted's gut; he doubled in agony as a rib cracked. What have I told you about underestimating your opponent? In the wave of pain, Ted wasn't aware that his body was moving until it was too late. Vader had taken over.
He heard a click and a hum; a bright red blade extended from the metal tube in Ted's right hand. Another hum and the blade came sailing down, slicing cleanly through Claudia's shoulder and severing her left arm. She screamed; the smell of burned, cauterized flesh filled the hallway. "Stand down." Vader did not threaten further. The worried, pleading expression was gone; there was something immovable about the anger and disgust on the boy's face. It wasn't an expression Claudia recognized, and even through the red burning haze of pain she realized that her former associate was no longer steering the ship. The person before her now was not someone to cross.
Claudia hadn't brought Adam's sword, and without it she was outmatched. Wracked with sudden fear for her life, she staggered back a few steps and sank against the wall.
"Wise." Vader observed. "Now, you will follow me."
