Who: Jeff Wainright, Claudia Walker (as 'Adam Prince,' CORE NPC)
When: Friday, January 22, late afternoon.
Where: Agency offices, Chicago.
What: Recruitment (by way of intimidation).
Rating: Let's say PG-13, but that might change at a moment's notice.
Claudia hadn't expected a call from the head of CORE - after all, she was the organization's spin-master, not one of the hands-on types. She liked it that way; she didn't have to get her hands dirty and she didn't have to do things that would push her (much nicer) reincarnate to his breaking point. Still, when the Fearless Leaders asked for something, you moved.
The instructions had been explicit: get to one of the Caretakers within the Agency and press him, using whatever means necessary, to turn to their side. As one of the first people new reincarnates met, he'd be useful in influencing their acceptance of CORE as the 'right path' to embark upon. And, well, Anna had indicated that they'd have a job for him within the next week. Something about needing insiders in the Agency, but she hadn't gotten specific and Claudia hadn't pushed.
Though he wasn't her Caretaker, it had been easy enough to gain access. The Agency had records, of course - if given time, they'd figure out that there was no such person as 'Adam Prince.' That's why Claudia didn't give them time to check - she'd barged into the Agency in Adam's shape, frantic and disheveled. She'd demanded to speak to someone regarding reincarnate issues ('she's out of control, I'm afraid we're actually going to hurt someone, I need help right now') and, as it was near the end of the day, the person she'd identified as her Caretaker was gone. There were only a few people left in the office - the receptionist sent her up to see a newcomer, a young woman with a villain reincarnate who might be able to sympathize, but once on the proper floor Claudia took a turn and knocked on Jeff's door.
"Mr. Wainright? My name is Adam Prince. Sylvie at the front desk sent me up?"
