WICON
Company Details
WICON was first established in 1997, though it did not become incorporated and its technology was not available for public consumption until June of 2000. The company was founded by Jocelin Rivers, a former student of Hogwarts (Slytherin), whose fascination with technology prompted him to devote his work to incorporating it in the Magical World. Products Wizard Vision Wi-Vi is a viewing system comprised of three major components, a universal translation spell, and a spell that is used in the development of many crystal balls, WiVi is the newest craze among Quidditch fanatics. The system works simply enough. The Flyer is a bio-magical contraption constructed from a scrying lens and an eye from the Oraculius Retinus plant. The scrying lens allows information to be received by the Oraculius Retinus which is then translated by a variant of current information and language translation spells. The Flyer is linked to the Tower, a central processing hub magically enchanted to duplicate, multiply and deliver images from the Flyer to each Viewer. Viewers are essentially like Muggle Viewers. They are flat & rectangle shaped, which translate imagery much like a wizarding photograph. Each linked Viewer is tuned to a series of Towers, thus receiving multiple streams of data that can be viewed independently and at the choice of the viewer. Included with each Viewer is a control wand to change the input received by the screen. This newest technology is based on those Muggle Viewers, but is only 1/4" thick glass, encased in a border of magically absorbent material. The material, Sightscopic Tech™, is what does the direct translation of the visual stream and places it in the encased area. Wi-Phone conceptual design. Wizard Phone Wi-Phone communications are presented in character journals. Journals in the traditional sense don't exist, but characters do make public blog-style entries on their wi-phones, to which anyone owning a wiphone can see and respond to. You cannot do "private to" posts or replies on these journal entries, they are completely public. Private communication does exist on wi-phones in the form of texts & phone calls. Things that are meant to be completely private posts would be by making use of a "notepad" like feature on the wi-phone, so basically it could only be seen if someone has your wi-phone and was browsing through your apps. Wi-Phones are tied into the Floo Network. You can use the traditional Floo communication to contact someone with a wi-phone (and the face appears on the screen) but the tech isn't there yet for someone to contact a fireplace via phone. This communication is made possible do the the use of Floo Powder in the core design and power source for Wi-Phones. Wizard Pad The Wi-Pad is the next stage in wizard tech to be developed by WICON, though it is still in beta testing and has yet to be released to the general public.
