Emily smiled in lieu of an answer about the parents. The truth was, her own parents were a pain. Especially her mom. So conservative and treating her like she was more of her property than her daughter. Emily felt like she was always disappointing her in one way or another.
Her eyes widened slightly as the other girl ordered a beer for her. It wasn't that she didn't drink, per se, it was just not really her thing. When she did do it, it was very rarely and mostly at Alison's coaxing. She had ways of getting Emily to do lots of things she otherwise wouldn't.
"Oh, I didn't think..." Emily rolled her eyes at herself, a blush creeping across her cheeks. "Right. I'll just..." Another nervous laugh escaped her before she finally slid onto the barstool next to the other Emily. How weird was that?
"Thanks." She said to the bartender as he slid a glass of beer in front of her. Her hand reached out and grasped it, the cold permeating into the skin of her hand and sending a chill across her body. "Thanks." She repeated, with another slight roll of her eyes at herself. Picking the glass up, she held it to her lips, taking a sip of the cold, bitter beverage.
"So..." Tucking some hair behind her ear, Emily looked at her and smiled. "How are you liking it here so far? Aside from the parent situation and all."
