Veronica was beginning to think that Duncan wasn't the only one avoiding her. Lilly hadn't really spoken to her all weekend, and during school hours on Monday, it seemed like Lilly was going out of her way to avoid being around her. She left campus at lunch, something she rarely did without asking Veronica to accompany her, and she left practice without bothering to shower or change. That wasn't normal Lilly behavior. Did it have something to do with Duncan and the mysterious reason he had broken up with her?
When the bell rang to signal the end of fourth period, Veronica sighed as she got up from her desk, grabbing her book and heading straight to her locker. She didn't make it that, far, however. When she rounded a corner, she saw Lilly, hurriedly digging through her backpack at her own locker. Veronica stopped walking. This would be the perfect opportunity to find out what Lilly had found out from Duncan. But what if she was right, and Lilly was avoiding her too? She shook her head and pressed on, heading straight for Lilly. She needed to know.
"Lilly!" She said, loudly, as she approached her best friend. "What's going on?" Her voice wasn't angry, but confused.
