"Dorota!" Blair called imperiously, her heels clicking loudly on the marble steps as she made her way downstairs. Her face softened slightly as the older woman darted out from behind a giant arrangement of peonies. "There you are. You need to be by the door to take people’s coats. I don't trust these rent-a-servants to not get lost in here."
Taking a long sip from her flute of Laurent-Perrier, Blair surveyed the room with eminent satisfaction. The band had arrived promptly and was already finished tuning up and Dorota had managed to recreate the champagne pyramid from Blair's imaginings perfectly. The decorations were lavish, consisting of heavy velvets and candles meant to recreate the look of Fin de Siècle Paris. Everything, in short, was perfect. But then, how could it be otherwise when she was behind the planning? Serena would be pleased, Blair thought, and making Serena happy unexpectedly felt important to her once more. Smiling slightly to herself, she made her way over to the band to lay out the specifics of the music list. Details could not be neglected after all.
