Thread: Al & Tristram
WHO: Al Potter, Tristram Wells
WHAT: A job interview
WHEN: Wednesday afternoon (forward dated a bit)
WHERE: Quantum Arcana
WARNINGS: Al's foul mouth
Between finding Scorpius and reconnecting with Jamie, Al hadn't had much time to think about his interview. He was fairly certain this Tristram Wells was full of shit, and that the closest he had to a magical tome was a book of children's fairy tales, but on the off chance this Wells guy was for real Al was going to keep the appointment. After all it appeared there were all sorts around Preya, so anything was possible if not probable.
It was a good thing Wells had asked Al to drop by midweek, because he hadn't actually remembered until well into Wednesday. Whatever time wasn't spent catching up with Scorpius and Al had been spent translating the grimoire. He hadn't gotten very far through it, but what he had deciphered was absolutely worth the trouble he'd be in if he was found with the thing. But it hadn't left much time to prepare for the interview.
Al was 22 years old, had been out of school for close to five years, and had never had a proper interview. Hell, he'd never had a proper job between all the traveling, apprenticing, freelancing, and other less than legitimate dealings. He wasn't like Jamie, who had almost killed himself making it through Healer training, or Scorpius who had done great things for Puddlemere. It had always amused him that he, the Ravenclaw of the bunch, had never been able to settle into any one profession. There was just so much out there, and he wasn't ready to settle down.
However, he was going to need something legitimate to occupy his time, and he couldn't think of anything better than working with books all day. Especially if Tristram Wells was who he said he was. Hopefully he wouldn't ask questions like, 'where do you see yourself in five years', or 'what strength is your biggest weakness', or whatever real interview questions were like. Wells had seemed more interested in Al's practical qualifications though, so that was a possible check in the pro column.
The shop itself wasn't hard to find, and Al walked through the door shortly before three o'clock. "Hello? Is Tristram Wells around?"
