Lydia was doing good, she hadn’t screamed or had the urge to since the last time with Derek. She’d managed to keep herself busy between school, the pack, Allison and now Mitch. But all of that changed Friday night. A night that started like any other and ended as usual, with her frame in bed and relaxed. But slowly she started to toss and turn. A tightening feeling began to build up in her throat. The more she held it in, the worse it got.
It wasn’t until finally, she would let out that loud high pitched scream that caused her whole house to tremble and shake. She could only imagine how far and loud the scream was and who it would actually affect that were near and far within the pack. Though, unlike the other times where she would wake up from her screams, Lydia was still asleep.
But it wasn’t just a one time scream, no Lydia had screamed two more times that night.
***
Stiles was dead asleep to the world until Cora shook him awake. She had heard the screams. So, he tried to text Lydia, but she wasn't replying back. He probably shouldn't worry, but he couldn't help it. Which was why he ended up getting dressed and heading towards Lydia's place.
Once he was there, he quickly made his way to the door and started to knock on it. He pretty much wasn't going to stop until she answered the door.
***
Thankfully, Stiles knocking had woken Lydia up, who knew how much longer she would have kept screaming for. Slowly, she came to stumble out her bed still dazed and confused about the screaming during her sleep. She hadn’t done that in a while. Once she’d seen who was at the door she came to let Stiles in.
As she was about to shut the door, she cringed suddenly as she held her lips closed tightly. Her hand pressed to Stiles back as she shoved him inside the house while her frame stumbled out into the porch of her small home. Her frame falling to the ground as her hands came to the side of her head.
That high pitched scream leaving her lips once more, as she felt the ground under her vibrate and the tree branches shift towards the direction of her scream from the force of the vibration. Once that scream was out of her system, Lydia pressed her hands to the porch floor as she breathed in heavy.
This was not good…
***
Stiles was about to ask her if she was okay, but instead, he had been shoved into the house and Lydia made her way outside. Before he could ask what was going on, she started to scream. He quickly put his hands over his ears and waited for her to be done.
When she seemed to be done, he slowly moved his hands and then crouched down beside her. "Are you okay? Are you having nightmares again?" That had been the reason behind her screaming before. Maybe it was a relapse tonight. Because this was Preya, people weren't dying left and right, so there should be no reason for the amount of screaming going on. He hoped, anyway.
***
Her head began to shake as she used Stiles to help herself stand up. “No… This time I hear people screaming.” She replied as she came to look at Stiles with a worried expression. “The voices aren’t of people we know…” She added as she came to walk into the house and moved to take a seat on the couch. Once settled she brought her hand through her hair for the moment.
“Something bad is happening or going to happen here…. And people are going to die.” She told him as she came to look up at Stiles. Only to realize he was actually here. “Wait, Stiles what are you doing here?” She asked as she came to look at him with a slightly confused look on her face.
***
Stiles stood up with Lydia, helping her when she needed it. And then they were back inside of the house. "So, Preya residents then?" That didn't sound good. Other than the bombing, there really hadn't been anything else major happening. And now Lydia was practically screaming her head off, which wasn't a good sign.
"I was kind of hoping that it would have just been your recurring nightmares..." he said as he took a seat on the couch. "Hm? Oh, Cora heard you. She woke me up and I figured that I would come here and check up on you since I know what you were going through when you first came here."
***
Lydia came to nod her head for the moment. “I hope I’m wrong. I hope it’s just the Holiday messing with me.” She said as she came to exhale and look around before looking back to Stiles once more. “I don’t know how we're supposed to protect the people of Preya if I can’t pinpoint who the screams belong too…” She said feeling slightly defeated at this point.
Still, she came to a stand and moved into the kitchen as she grabbed a bottle of water to help soothe her now aching throat. Her frame leaning against the counter as she came to look at Stiles for the moment. “I really… Hope I’m wrong.” She said once more as she brushed her red hair from her face for the moment,
***
"Me too..." Because he could only imagine how many people were going to die with how many times Lydia had screamed. "Maybe we're not meant to protect them. The point of leaving Beacon Hills was for a different life, right?"
He didn't get up. He watched Lydia, though. "Me too," he repeated. "You don't feel the need to wander off and find a dead body, do you?" The screaming was one thing, but her taking off towards whoever died was another. It meant whatever was going to happen already started. "Preya is too big... we're going to have to trust that police will be able to handle whatever happens wherever it's going to happen."
***
Lydia came to listen to Stiles as she exhaled deeply. “I know.. I just… I hate feeling like this…” She replied as she came to brush her red hair from her face for the moment. She didn’t like this feeling, she didn’t like doing anything to prevent things from happening but Stiles had a point. Preya was bigger than Beacon Hills. Maybe it was time to let the police worry about it for once.
“No. No wandering… Yet.” She said to his question as she leaned on the counter and came to look at Stiles for the moment. “Which means no one’s been killed…. Yet.” She made sure to add as she looked at Stiles. “Should we tell Scott?” She asked wondering what to do since half the original was pack was here now. “And Allison?”
***
"I don't particularly care for the feeling either." Sure, he still wanted to help people whenever he could. But they weren't home anymore. They were supposed to try and live better lives here. Still, he did want to do more. But right now, they really had nothing to go on, so it wasn't like they could do anything even if they wanted to.
"Let's hope it stays that way! The no death part." He really was hoping that Lydia's screams were just a false alarm. He didn't want to see this place turn into the way home was. "I don't know. I mean. He probably heard you if Cora did. So, maybe?" he said with a slight shrug at the end of his sentence.
***
When Stiles mentioned that maybe Scott heard she would nod her head. “If it gets worse we’ll tell them.” She said with a firm nod of her head once more. Her frame came to move around the counter as she took a seat next to Stiles. “Sorry, you had to come here because of this... I’ve been meaning to have us hang out but things kept coming up.” She replied with a slight smile in his direction.
“How’s the house?” She asked, hoping the change of topic will help calm her nerves as she brushed her hair from her face for the most part. “Oh, and you can tell Scott that Mitch is twenty-five.” She said shaking her head since Scott wanted to know how old he was. And Lydia was curious on how far apart the two of them were.
It wasn’t that much.
***
"Sounds like a plan." They didn't need to drag anyone else in. For now, it could just be between the two of them, well, three since Cora heard her first. And like she said, if it gets worse then they could clue Scott and Allison in as well. "Don't be sorry. You're my friend. I'll always want to make sure that you're okay." He paused for a moment before adding, "Would these things be Mitch?" he asked, eyebrow raised in question.
He leaned back, eyes on Lydia. "The house is great. Better than being in an apartment. And Scott's staying with us, too." At first, he gave Lydia a slightly confused looked. "Scott asked for his age?" He wondered when that happened. Especially when he and Scott were supposed to go track Mitch down and get some information out of him. "But, okay, yeah, I'll tell Scott." A beat passed between them before he added, "No wonder you like him. You were always eyeing older guys."
***
She came to roll her eyes at Stiles. “Yes, those things happen to be Mitch. And he asked me a few days ago. Just forgot to tell him.” She said with another nod of her head. When Stiles made his last comment she came to flick his ear slightly as she made a face at him. “Between you and Scott, you’re both going to get coal for Christmas from me.” She said teasing as she smiled at Stiles.
“Glad the house is going well. And that sounds interesting.” She said about Scott living there also. But then again they all lived far from one another now. Least she didn’t have the need to scream again, but she could feel that tightness slowly building up in her stomach. Which was never a good thing.
***
"Are you like attached to him?" he asked. "Oh, well, I will definitely pass along the message whenever I see Scott next," he told her. He gasped and rubbed his ear after Lydia had flicked it. "What? Why? What did we do?" They hadn't done anything. Yet. She might have been smiling, but he gave her a fake pout.
"It is interesting. I'm still a little surprised that Cora offered for him to stay with us." Although, he wondered how long she was going to tolerate having Scott around. "Are you liking it out here? It's been a while now since you moved out here."
***
“I’m not attached to Mitch, I just like spending time with him.” She replied as she watched him fake pout. “PLease, that did not hurt.” She replied laughing a bit as she came to watch Stiles. “She most likely did it for you.” She said with a nod of her head. “I knew how distraught you were over Scott, imagine your girlfriend.” She said looking at Stiles once more. As for how long she would deal with it, well that was up to Cora really.
“I do, it’s quiet and I’ve explored the area it’s amazing. And I saw the manor and was able to decorate it before the screaming for the party on Halloween.” She said, letting Stiles know nothing was going to stop her from having this party. Nothing. “Plus, I have Deucalion not far from here, Derek is somewhere around but I haven’t seen much of him and Peter checks in from time to time.” She replied with a light shrug of her shoulders.
***
"Yes, you are," Stiles teased. He was probably going to get flicked again or worse, but he didn't care. "Okay, fine," he said as he quit with the fake pouting. He opened his mouth, ready to say something, but then he closed it as he thought about what Lydia just said. Why hadn't he seen it that way? Lydia was probably right. "Hadn't thought of it that way." He might have to ask Cora about it next time.
"Do you think having the party is a good idea?" Especially if she kept screaming. That would probably scare the hell out of a lot of people and not in a good way. "Derek's still around? He seems to have disappeared. And wait, Peter has been checking on you? Since when does he care?"
***
“Nothing is stopping me from having this party, I planned it for a month and a half.” She said with determination as she came to look at Stiles. “And of course you didn’t think of it that way, which is why you have me as a best-friend to point it out to you.” She said flicking his earlobe once more. “Yeah here’s around, I think he’s just staying to himself.” She replied with a light shrug of her shoulders.
“Peter and I text daily.” She replied with a nod of her head. “Someone has to keep that stupid Hale sane.” She said laughing lightly. “Plus we’ve gotten used to his stupidness back home and he’s helped us out a lot. Even if he makes a big issue of it.” She said as she brushed her hair back and looked at Stiles for the moment.
“And no, Mitch and I aren’t attached because obviously, I’m here and not at his place. Duh.”
***
"I had a feeling that you were going to say that." It was Lydia. Whenever she put her mind to something, it meant she was going to do it, no matter what. "Hey!" Stiles swatted at her hand before she could pull it away. "Leave my poor ears alone. They did nothing to you." He wondered why Derek felt the need to keep to himself. Shouldn't they all be banding together again now that they were together?
"That's scary." He honestly never thought that anyone one of them would be able to stand Peter or even be friendly towards him. He was a bit of a jackass. No, actually he was a huge jackass. But Stiles also had to remember that Lydia is from their future. Things happened and things changed.
"Only because I showed up. Let's be honest here, Lydia, you would have taken off to his place if I hadn't shown up." He was still teasing her because he could and he figured it might make her forget about what just happened.
***
Lydia came to swat at his ear repeatedly at this point. “Keep it up Stilinski.” Is all she said as she laughed slightly. It was making her feel a little better but that urge was still there just not as strong. “Do me a favor, keep an eye on each other.” She meant about the household. She didn’t want anything happening to her friends. Especially since they were all together once again in Preya.
“Maybe.” She replied with slight smile on her features as she thought about Mitch but shook her head and flicked Stiles ear once more. “It’s because I can’t punch you.” She said about the flicking as she brushed her hair from her face. “Plus, this party will be a distraction that we all need.”
***
"Gaaah, stop it!" Now he was just swatting at her hand with both of his hands, trying to get her to knock it off. He scooted over a bit, hoping that'll help with stopping the attack on his ear. "Yeah, of course. Gotta watch out for our friends." It was why he got up in the middle of the night and came all the way over to Lydia. To make sure she was okay and to look after her for a bit.
"Maybe means yes!" He grinned. "There will be no punching and no more flicking of the ears." He really hoped the party would just be a party and nothing ends up happening. Buuuut, since weirdness was starting to pop up in Preya, he was starting to get the feeling that something was bound to happen. Because that's just how lucky they all are. "Okay. I still need my costume..."
***
“You don’t have a costume yet?!” She said looking at him a bit insane at the moment. But she came to exhale for the moment. “I’m going as Ariel.” She said with a firm nod of her head. “MOst likely going to change sometime during the party though.” She added as she brushed her hair from her face and came to tie it up in a ponytail.
“So, what’s a relationship with a Hale like anyways?” She asked as she came to smirk in his direction for the moment. “Never thought I’d see you with a Hale really.” She said since that whole family was very... Brooding, was the only word she could think of.
***
Stiles shook his head at Lydia's question. "Nope! I should have gotten one when I went to the Halloween store with Sharon and Roxy, but I didn't." And now it was days away and he still didn't have anything. "Because you're Ariel?" he asked with a slight smile.
"You know, Malia is technically a Hale." So, it wasn't really like Cora was the first one. But Cora was totally different compared to Malia. "I never really thought I'd end up with Cora." Then again he didn't think he would end up with anyone after he had broken up with Malia. He figured he'd just be single for a while or, like, forever. But he and Cora connected so quickly. "But, to answer your question...it's normal and intense and I wouldn't change anything about it."
***
She came to smile at Stiles as he spoke about the relationship. As she thought. “Why not be one of your Star Wars characters?” She asked since she knew Stiles was obsessed with the movie. Though she couldn’t understand why. But she’d never tell him that, because that would be an all-night argument she wasn’t ready for.
“”And yes, I am Ariel.” She replied sticking her tongue out at him. “How about we get you a costume tomorrow?”” She said as she tilted her head in his direction and kept that smile. “Thanks for coming by.” She said as she did feel a little better.
***
"Hmm, I could." Why hadn't he thought of that before? Oh right, because he was too busy fending off Roxy and Sharon and their need to see him dressed up as Harry Potter.
"You are," he said as he reached over and gave her hair a flick. "Yeah, sure. We could use a little bit of normal after tonight, huh? Do you already have all the bits for your costume?" It seemed like everyone else was ready for Halloween and he wasn't.
***
Once he flicked her hair she came to laugh. “Hey leave my hair alone, before I make you dress up as Flounder.” She said as she glared at him. Because Lydia could do it and nothing or nobody would stop her for that matter... When he asked about her costume she nodded. “I have everything. So we’ll focus on yours tomorrow. Yes, normal is good.”
“Are you staying the night?” She asked as she looked at him for the moment. “There's a guest room down the hall, and it would be easier to get the costume with you just being here already.”
***
"I can't," he told her as he gave Lydia's hair another flick. It was payback for the ear flicking. "I am not dressing up as Flounder or Harry Potter or any other character that I don't care about." Honestly, he was probably trying to get away with no costume since he hadn't gotten one even though he had the opportunity to do so.
"I'm staying," he replied with a smile. "I'll text Cora and let her know." He grabbed his phone and texted Cora. Once he was done he put it away and his attention was right back on Lydia. "Are you going to get any sleep tonight?"
***
“I think so. I feel a little better.” She replied about the sleep comment as she came to a stand and showed him to the guest room. “We’ll find you a costume tomorrow.” She said teasing as she waved lightly at him. “Good night, Stiles.” She said as she walked off to her room to sleep.
