Lydia was on her way to see Mitch as usual. Of course, she had noticed all the pumpkins all around Preya, since she had a few around her own home. That note kept within her purse as she came to try and ignore it. Between this and her screaming last night, she didn’t want to believe they were connected. Because if she started to think that, it meant that something bad was going to happen to Preya and she couldn’t stop it.
As she came to place her car in park, she would head up to his apartment. Though, she came to a stop when she looked at his pumpkin. It was a bit unsettling that his pumpkin had a carving of a banshee on it. Still, she brushed the thoughts out her head as she came to knock on his door. Her red hair brushed out her face as she held in her hand a bag of food she had made for him, as well as candy for anyone who came by his place trick or treating.
***
Having a pumpkin just show up on his doorstep had been weird enough, the letter that had been attached to it had been weirder. He had left the pumpkin where it had been placed, but he took the letter and stuck it to the fridge. It wouldn’t get lost that way. Not that he really ever lost anything. Still, it was a good place for it.
When the knock came, he went and answered the door, motioned for Lydia to come in before he shut and locked the door again. “I see you have come bearing gifts.” She usually did. Her coming over with something had become pretty routine. “You know, I’m starting to think the whole key thing might actually be a good idea.”
***
Once he opened the door she held that bag up to him. “Meatloaf with steamed veggies.” She said happily as she placed the food on the counter and held the other bag. “Trick or treaters candy.” She added. Only to snicker at his key comment. “Oh but Mitchy, we’re not there yet. Remember.” She said teasing him like he had teased her. But she did take a glance at that letter and exhaled deeply.
“I saw you have a pumpkin outside your door.” She said as she took the food out and went to heat it up for him. Her frame brushing her red hair from her face once more as she glanced in his direction once more. “How’d you sleep last night?” She asked, wondering if he heard her scream since Cora did.
***
"Now you're just spoiling me," he said with a smile. "Right, Halloween is only a few days away." Just because she bought candy didn't mean he was going to answer the door when the little kids came to a knocking. He held his hand out, grinning, "Trick-or-treat."
He should have known that would get thrown right back at him. "No, I don't remember. I had completely forgotten that I said that," he told her a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
He leaned against the counter and watched as she moved around the kitchen. "Yeah, it just showed up with the note attached to it," he said as he motioned towards the note that was up on his fridge. "I'm going to take a wild guess and say this isn't something normal around here, hm?" Hopefully not.
"I slept okay. Only woke up once when I thought I heard something."
***
When he said trick or treat she came to toss a kiss candy in his direction. Only to smirk as she shook her head at him. “Yeah yeah get me my key then.” She said laughing. But when he said about the pumpkin she sighed deeply. “Wouldn’t know this is my first Halloween here but I got the same note.” She added.
When he mentioned he woke up because he heard something she frowned even more. “Sorry, That was me… I woke up screaming last night, and when Stiles came to check on me I screamed again outside in the open. To not hurt him.” She said as she tried to not let it get to her. Especially since the urge was still with her. So she forced a smile and held the plate of food out to him.
“Come on, eat.” She said changing the subject as she kept green eyes watching him closely.
***
Mitch caught the kiss with ease. "Maybe I will," he told her right before he popped the candy into his mouth. He trusted her enough. She had been helping him. A lot. More than he thought she needed to. So, yeah, why not just give a key that way she can just come and go whenever she wanted. "Oh. So, this is new to you, too." He wondered if anyone else would say anything on the network.
"You were screaming?" Maybe that had been what woke him up. When it happened he hadn't been too sure what he had heard. He just knew it had been loud enough to drag him out of his sleep. "Should I be worried?" She did scream because it meant death. That was the point of a banshee, right? Did that mean death was coming to Preya? "I'm glad your friend was able to check up on you."
He took the plate but set it down onto the counter. "I will. In a minute. I can tell you don't want to talk about what happened, but are you okay?"
***
When he agreed to a key she gave him a look. “Seriously? I was just kidding about the key thing…” She said. But if it was something he wanted to do she wouldn’t reject it. The last time she had a key was with Jackson, the thought of that was a bit saddening to her but she pushed it aside since she knew he was with Ethan now and happy, so she was happy for him. “I’m hoping it’s normal.” She said about the pumpkins.
But once he asked about her screaming she came to exhale deeply. “Yeah… It means death. And I screamed five times alone last night, which isn’t a good sign if we’re being honest.” She said as she watched him place the plate down and ask if she was okay. “No. Not really. It’s a new day and I’m struggling with the rattling in my head.” She said realizing it made her sound like a crazy person.
“I just needed... I needed to get away from my place. I love it but right now the quietness isn’t helping me,”
***
"Seriously," he replied. "You've been helping me for a while now and I figured that it would be easier if you just had a key." It was just a key. Nothing else. "If not," he said giving the letter a quick glance, "We're in for a horrible treat." Usually, he didn't believe in the supernatural bullshit, but he saw what Lydia was, which meant anything was possible while in Preya.
He felt kind of bad for her. Having to scream because death might be looming in the distance. And then the feeling that it probably dredged up. It had to suck. "Well, you can come over here whenever you want. Especially if the quiet becomes too much for you."
***
“Alright then.” She said about the key as she smiled at him and came to move around the kitchen and towards the table he was at. “If my assumption is correct, which it usually always is. Preya is going to get a shock coming its way.” She replied as she came to look at Mitch and bite her bottom lip.
“Do me a favor… Don’t let the light of that pumpkin go out. At any cost.” She said as she glanced at the note and soon back at Mitch. She knew she was going to have to warn the others. To make sure they did the same. Mitch also had no idea how horrible it was for Lydia since all she had were voices and noises in her head all the time. She just knew how to handle it after a while.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” She said about his offer to come whenever she needed to get away. But as she came to take a step, she would stumble slightly and make a face, as she rubbed at her temple for the moment.
***
If things started to come out of the woodwork to harm people, that might actually make him say fuck and stop hiding out in his apartment. Innocent people didn't deserve to get hurt. "Let's hope that it's wrong."
He nodded his head slightly, "I'll keep it lit." Only because he didn't want to find out how real that letter was. He had enough shit to worry about without something freaky coming his way.
He finally grabbed the plate of food and moved it from the counter and to the table. He was about to sit down until he saw Lydia stumble a bit. "Sit down before you fall down." It was more of a command more than a suggestion. "Do you need anything?" She had been taking care of him for weeks now, maybe now it was his turn to do the same for her.
***
When he told her to sit, she did just that. Her eyes remained closed for the moment as she came to inhale and exhale deeply. When he asked if there was anything he could do or get her, she shook her head. “Unfortunately, nothing can help me with what I have baby,” She said laughing slightly since she knew what she was dealing with was that rattling sound. It was slightly louder tonight, which worried her to no ends.
Her frame came to rock slightly as she exhaled once more and came to finally open her green eyes to look at Mitch. Just to notice he was watching her, and that caused her to look away from him, using her hair to cover her face. Lydia was never one to be shy but she did like Mitch and he wasn’t from her world so to speak. But even those from back home thought she was weird with what she was able to do.
So she could just imagine what someone normal thought of her right now, especially since she could imagine what she looked like to him. Like a crazy person.
***
Mitch wasn't sitting down. Not yet. Just in case Lydia needed something. "Okay..." He wished that he could do something for her, but if she said there was nothing then there was nothing. Still, he couldn't stop watching her. Like he was waiting for her to fall over or something.
He finally sat down, but he still kept his eyes on her. His food untouched still. He was a little more worried about her than himself.
"If you need to lay down or something, you can do that. You don't have to sit here and keep me company." He was used to being alone. She didn't have to suffer and stay sitting at the table.
***
She came to bring her hands up to the side of her face and up her temple for the moment. Her eyes closing tightly once more as she came to open eyes suddenly and look to Mitch. “Mitch… Go into your room…” She said as she saw he didn’t move at first.” Mitch, go now!” She said as she came to a stand suddenly, as she shoved Mitch in the direction of the bedroom and moved away from the table.
Her hands coming to press against the temple of her head as she came to let out that loud scream that had his whole apartment shaking. But it wasn’t just the apartment it was the building itself that shook from the force of that scream. Luckily though it was just one loud scream, but that scream was enough to cause her to collapse on the floor.
***
"Lydia..." He stood up, but he really hadn't started moving. He was far too concerned about her. But the more urgent she sounded, it finally hit him what was going to happen. He made his way into the bedroom just as she started to scream. He quickly put his hands over his ears, trying to drown out the noise. It was still loud. And the fact that he could feel it too. It was fucking nuts.
When it ended, he quickly left his bedroom and went to Lydia. He was down beside her, hand resting on her shoulder. "Hey..." That had been bad, but he wasn't going to say it.
***
Once she heard Mitch voice she came to open her eyes quickly as she gasped for a breathe, If Mitch thought that was bad, wait till he saw her use her scream as a weapon. Only to come to look up at him for the moment, while unknowing to her, that her hand was gripping onto his shirt tightly.
“Roxy.” Is all she would say as she came to look at Mitch. The look on Lydia’s face should have said it all, that the name she said was that of one of the people that were going to die. She just wasn’t sure when it would happen but she at least had a name of one of them. And one that Stiles knew.
***
He'd noticed that Lydia had grabbed a hold of his shirt, but he didn't care. What he did care about was the name that she had said. "Who is Roxy?" He still needed to pay more attention to the network to find out who exactly was who. Right now, though, the name wasn't connecting to a face. "Should we warn her? What do you normally do after you do that whole screaming thing?"
***
“Tell Scott.” She said as she came to have her eyes roll behind her head slightly, as her frame came to literally pass out after she informed Mitch to reach out to Scott. It was the least she could do since she had a name, which is more than what she had yesterday. But for now, the pressure of everything going on has caused her to pass out on Mitch’s floor.
