In all honesty the Alpha genuinely liked the young coyote. Oh she was rash and impulsive at times; the memory of her trying to attack him back at McCall's house still almost drew a chuckle, yet even when she seemed to lack a tact at least Malia was upfront and honest. Truthfully it had been her remark about others losing their sight, well that and the young woman's bravery too, that helped convince the man to offer their pack help. "Oh you truly are unique, my dear, though your ability to take on the form of a coyote is not the reason why."
When Malia asked after his kitten Deucalion grinned so brightly, a single hand resting upon Kali's head as he caressed her soft ears. "Indeed. This is Kali. I adopted her the other day, and she's been keeping me company here." The news that the young woman had adopted a pup wasn't surprising; after all were tended to be quite social creatures, and having someone or something around to share companionship with just felt right. "Well should you ever wish to bring Shadow by I am certain I could offer some fresh deer or rabbit for the pup to enjoy."
There was no need to consider her request at all, instead the old wolf just nodded as he smiled back at her. "Of course. You are most welcome to come here during the moon. I was already planning a little excursion into the forest with another young wolf that I've met. Having you along would be a pleasant addition as well." The question of training her was met with a slight pause as Deucalion made up his mind. "What manner of training were you interested in pursuing, Malia?"
