Lisa couldn’t help being pleased that she had drawn Aidan’s name. He was one of the cuter guys on the team, after all, and she was really going to enjoy putting a box together for him. It was possible she put a little more effort into it than she might have for any of the other guys, but there was no way she would be willing to admit to that. If anyone asked, she was just doing her job as a cheerleader, nothing more. She’d filled the box with little things she knew he’d like - a miniature batch of his favorite kind of cookies (baked in the shape of footballs), an Indiana Jones hat and whip, a bag of his favorite candy, a keychain from a nearby theme park and a bag of pumpkin spice hersheys kisses. A satisfied smile crossed her lips as she decorated it with their school colors and even spritzed a little of her perfume on the package. She sneaked down the hall to Aidan’s locker and dialed the combination - which she had conveniently acquired. Looking around to make sure the coast was clear, she pulled out the box and settled it in his locker, right in front where he was bound to see it, closed the locker door and turned to walk away. She’d done this several times before and was confident she could pull it off without being seen. Aidan didn’t normally go to his locker in the middle of the day but he’d forgotten his notebook and his textbook. It was a nice excuse to leave class for a few minutes. He strolled through the halls, taking his time to get to his locker. He was rounding the corner when he saw a girl standing in front of his locker. He hung back, standing where he was certain she couldn’t see. It was his mystery girl. Aidan often wondered which of the cheerleaders left him presents on game day. It was one of the best privileges of being on the team if you asked him. He’d gotten them since he joined the team in freshman year but this year he could say was the best. He waited until he watched her put the box in his locker before proceeding. “What do you think you’re doing?” he asked, a slight edge to his voice. He did his best to remain expressionless though the corner of his lips threatened to turn into a grin any moment. It might sound a little mean but he wanted to have a little fun. Aidan wasn’t remotely mad but he couldn’t help but tease her a little. She was pretty cute and she left him amazing spirit boxes and still he thought it was a good idea. Lisa jumped about a foot and let out a startled squeal when she heard Aidan's voice. She hadn't expected anyone to happen along just now, especially him and she was more than a little started. "Planting a pipe bomb, of course," she joked, trying to act normal despite the fact that her cheeks were flaming. "I figured it'd get us out of the rest of the day and then I could go shopping." She flashed him a bright smile, clearly joking. They both knew perfectly well what she was doing, but it wasn't like she was going to admit to it! There were rules! And, really, it was mean of him to not just pretend he hasn't seen her, but he couldn't seriously be mad, right? What guy wouldn't love a cute girl leaving presents in his locker? Not the answer he was expecting and he couldn’t help being impressed by her answer. “Or trying to get the team’s star player expelled,” he quipped, the corners of his mouth turning up into a smile. “So can I see what’s in the box this time?” Aidan asked, stepping closer to his locker. He was already turning the dial of his locker. It might not be part of the rules to know who was leaving you secret goodies but right now he didn’t exactly care. He was having a conversation with a very cute cheerleader. Suddenly he was very thankful for long upheld traditions. “I seriously can’t get enough of those cookies.” "Star player, huh? Someone has quite the ego," she teased him. Lisa was definitely enjoying herself. She knew he couldn't have really been mad and she was really enjoying talking to him. "What box?" She questioned him, trying to play dumb. "THERE'S A BOX IN YOUR LOCKER?" She affected an expression of complete shock, as if she hasn't planted it there just moments ago. "Careful," she teased him some more. "The cookies could be poisoned or something." If it wasn't obvious, Lisa was really enjoying herself right now. "I think my record speaks for itself," Aidan returned, popping open his locker. He gave her a sideways glance, grinning as he pulled out the box. "I wonder who could have put it there," he teased, opening it up. He'd loved each of the boxes he'd received so far and he was certain he'd love this one too. Especially now that he knew who was putting them in his locker. "It's a shame because I'd really like to thank them." He quirked an eyebrow at her, obviously knowing that she was kidding. He shrugged his shoulders. "I'd die happy at least because they are delicious." "Don't look at me, I didn't see anything," she joked. Obviously, he knew it was her, but she was having too much pretending to keep up the charade. It was probably obvious in the way she couldn't stop grinning. "Oh, yeah?" she continued to joke. "They don't look that great. Maybe you're just a really poor joke of cookie. A part of her wondered if he liked the other things in the boxes she left him, but it wasn't like she could ask. He wasn't even supposed to know it was her! |
