Jennifer had been a little unsure of herself when she’d agreed to spend an afternoon watching movies at Mark’s apartment, but she had to admit that she was glad to be here now. She was snuggled comfortably against him as the movie played on the screen in front of them and for once she wasn’t thinking about this horrible secret she was keeping from her father. It sounded dramatic, but Jennifer felt like her whole world had been turned upside down with the revelation that her father wasn’t really her father. Not biologically, anyway. This kind of thing happened in soap operas and Lifetime movies. It didn’t happen in real life and certainly not in her family. She was having a little trouble dealing with it. “This was a good idea. Thank you,” she murmured, turning her head slightly so that she was facing him for a moment as she flashed him a genuine and grateful smile. It felt nice to have someone to lean on. Not that she didn’t have plenty of friends in Atlanta, but... this felt different. Nicer, somehow. She felt really lucky to have met him. As crass as it sounded, Mark wanted to fuck Jennifer. He'd wanted to fuck her since the day he'd met her. Unfortunately, it wasn't as simple as merely telling her that he wanted to fuck her. He was having to put genuine effort into it. Which is why they were currently cuddled together in front of the television. He'd done this more times than he could count. A girl like Jennifer needed a sensitive guy.. the type of guy that listened a girl spoke.. the type of guy that comforted a girl when she was upset. That didn't come close to describing him, but he could play the part if he needed to. Feeling her shift at his side, he turned his head so that he was looking at her instead of the television. The corner of his mouth twitched into a slight smirk when she thanked him. When he answered her, though, that smirk widened into a genuine smile. "Of course it was a good idea. It was my idea." Luckily, he didn't need to hide his ego to play the part of a sensitive, understanding guy. Jennifer, of course, was oblivious to Mark’s true motives. As far as she knew, he was a genuinely nice guy. She had absolutely no clue that he had any ulterior motives. Why should she, though? He was playing the part of the sweet, sensitive guy perfectly. “You’re so modest,” she laughed, assuming that his show of ego was feigned. Mark had done a good job of making her think he wasn’t some cocky asshole and it didn’t even occur to her that he might seriously have a large ego. As it was, she thought it was cute. “What other ideas do you have if all your ideas are so good?” she teased him. She may have been flirting a little bit, but they’d been out a few times now and she really did like him. She didn’t see anything wrong with a little flirty teasing. "You wouldn't like me as much if I was modest," he answered teasingly. "I hear you're only into cocky jocks." Mark had done an excellent job of making her think that he wasn't some cocky asshole, but that was all a part of his plan. After all, he didn't really believe that she was attracted to "cocky jocks." He was certain that she was amused by his faux displays of faux egotism, though. "My other ideas?" he laughed. "Well, I've got this one… it's probably the best idea I've ever had..." Rather than trying to describe it to her, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. He knew there was a possibility that she might push him away, but he hoped that she wouldn't. ”Oh, wouldn’t I?” Again, Jennifer was assuming that he was joking, which made his teasing cute. Mark had really did a good job of making her think he was actually a good guy. Jennifer really probably should have pushed Mark away when he kissed her, but the truth was that she didn’t really want to. They hadn’t been out a whole lot, but Jennifer really did like this guy. More than that, though, any lingering thoughts about the drama with her parents faded when his lips pressed to hers. As nice of a distraction as the movie was, she found this was even better. Rather than push him away, Jennifer leaned in a little bit and she returned that gentle pressure of lips. This wasn’t quite what she’d had in mind when she’d teased him, but she wasn’t complaining, either. Regardless of whether or not kissing Mark was a good idea, it felt nice and that was all that seemed to matter at the moment. |
