RP: Tim, Savannah, Others?
Who: Tim, Savannah, Others?
Where: the yard
When: July 29, 2011
Summary: It's about to rain

The day had been hot and humid. The news said that it would rain at 7:00pm. Savannah didn't pay a lot of attention to the weather reports, but around 6:45 the sun suddenly disappeared and she could hear thunder. She left her food on the plate and ran upstairs, while calling Tim. "Hey, you, it's about to rain. A storm," she said all excited. "Bathing suit, yard, and if you're there after the rain start you lose." There was no question that she would be there. She wouldn't lose.

She changed quickly and ran back downstairs and through the house so she could leave from the back door. She left the phone on the kitchen counter and ran outside just as Tim was coming out. She raised her arms. "Still nothing, but I think it'll pour in a bit. Look how dark the sky is all of a sudden. We had that at home. First the sun, then the rain, and suddenly the sun again."

"He's - he's my best and oldest friend." Tim said with a small smile. "We've been friends since we were kids, played together for years." He didn't talk about what happened to Jason, he was always going to be a Panther, just like Tim was, and that didn't change because Jason couldn't walk and it didn't change because Jason had moved to New York.

"Still you're more used to a city than I am." He teased her with a laugh.

That was never going to be him, the default getting a gun and running into a situation with it raised. He was never going to be like that. "Maybe I'll just leave that see what's going on with a gun sort of stuff to those guys." He'd carry the gun, might even use it if he really needed to, but having it out like that wasn't going to work for him.

But Savannah was right, they came out here to have fun, not to talk about his friends or these strange people she'd turned into a family. He laughed and shouted again as he set off after her chasing her through the rain and the yard arms out reached just like he had the day before, zigging and zagging right behind her shouting his laughter in their wake.

"I guess that I'll have to meet Jason too when we go back." If he put a smile on Tim's face, then he was important and then she would meet him.

"That's true. Memphis isn't exactly as big as New York, but yes, it's not a small town in West Texas." This New York was something else, though, because they were prisoners here.

"I've done it, too. It's just easier to do what they expect you to do than argue. We had a situation when we were up in the mountains, the moment we woke up, I had clothes and gun at hand, and that was before classes and before anything else," she said, knowing how much she had changed despite wanting to stay the same.

She decided to let it go and just run, it was so much easier. First she just ran, but then she turned around, staring at him, and she knew that she put herself at a disadvantage. He was used to running sideways, reading the signs to know where the opponent was going to go, but again, it made no difference. They were running and it was raining. The thunder was loud and they were laughing. And there was still no one joining them.

"He's - he's actually here in New York." Tim said with a smile when Savannah said that she wanted to meet Jason. "Think you could put up with this place for a while when we get back?" He asked her with a grin.

"At least I win this." He chuckled - it wasn't the same thing of course, being here in New York in this place. It wasn't just comparing city sizes, it was being in a place that wasn't home and would never feel like home for either of them.

Tim just shook his head when she told him about what she'd done too. He couldn't imagine doing that himself, but it wasn't important now, they could talk about how messed up this place was later, not today.

After she turned around to watch him Tim caught her easily, this time dropping his shoulder and catching her around the middle and lifting her up on his shoulder and spinning them both around in the rain. "You make it too easy." He laughed.

Savannah nodded. "For a friend of yours, of course I can put up with New York for a while longer. Besides, it's not the same thing. We wouldn't be... it's not like here."

She nodded. "You totally win this one, although really it's your town that wins, not you, but I can be nice and let you think that you win this," she joked.

Before she could say anything, he tackled her and picked her up. Savannah kicked, even though she knew that she wouldn't accomplish anything in this position. If she stopped laughing, she might actually think of a way out of this, but it took too much work and standing upside down wasn't so unusual for her. The rain was covering them and the smell of the ocean was getting thicker. It was perfect, but she couldn't let Tim get away with it so easily. "I don't want to bruise your ego," she said, laughing. "I'm pretty sure this is an illegal move."
