Re: Sam/G
"That's my plan," G replied with a smirk, "if the geek squad will just fall in line and figure out how to send us home." Of course, which geek squad he was referring to, the guys who'd created this mess or their own techs, was left purposefully vague. There had to be someone among them working on it. G could name a few he thought were up to the task. But, he didn't need to know who. Didn't want to know, for that matter. He had enough secrets in his head to be worried about getting caught himself. He wasn't a scientist or a tech and he didn't need to know anything about any of it until it worked.
He turned back around to regard Sam in silence for a long moment when the other man went on. They teased about phobias, like Sam's fear of clowns. But, real fear wasn't something either of them generally admitted to openly. Granted, Sam more than G. G knew that admission about being afraid of losing his partner had been soberly serious. And G'd had a few moments of admitting to fear since the got here. But, the admission was not commonplace and was also not something G would ignore or brush off as he might have been doing with the advice.
"Give them time," he said gently, crossing to sit next to his partner. "You got some parts right and other parts wrong. Isn't that what you're always telling me with Savannah? Never going to get it all right? You did what you thought was best to protect them because you love them. Maybe they don't agree. Maybe it wasn't always the right thing. But, they don't know what you know. They haven't seen what you've seen. I'd rather have Savannah alive and hate me forever than dead, or hurt, or having to go through the kind of pain and hardship it takes to understand why I do what I do. But, they're going to see some of those things no matter what we do because a bunch of idiot scientists with too much time on their hands and too much government money decided to play God. And, when they do, they'll see a little more and understand a little more why you did things the way you did.
"It's hard to forgive your parents for what you see as the wrongs they've done to you. But, it's even harder to stop wanting them, wanting their love and a place in their lives, no matter how much you tell yourself you don't need it." G leaned in to brush his lips softly against Sam's. "It'll take time. But, you've got a chance for that time now. You're here to help them learn how to protect themselves when they need it the most."
