Entry tags:*complete, 2011 06, character: dominic vail, character: sam hanna, dead: jenna hanna

RP: Dom and Jenna
Who: Dom and Jenna
Where: Team center and possibly Dom's house
When: June 1 , 2011
Summary: Let's try this, but without parents

Dom hated that things were weird with Sam, but they had nothing wrong, and while Jenna should have told them, Sam had overreacted.  If he'd been this worried, he should have texted her or called her.  However, he knew better than to try and argue that point.  Not if he wanted to survive.  At least things got better when they worked in teams.  There was no Sam or Callen, and while Morgan had told them that next time, they should inform both him and Callen, he let it go after that.

The afternoon went by pretty uneventfully, and when they were done, he approached Jenna.  "Wanna come over for a while?" he asked her. "I promise to have you home by dinner," he said, teasingly.  "Or we'll get Morgan to call them and say you're staying over for dinner."  This was almost like dating back on the bases, where every father had a gun and knew how to use them.

"I'm sure you'll get to see a lot more of that." Especially if the reaction on the front porch was anything to go by. "If you ever want to talk about it, door is open." He wouldn't push, but he couldn't imagine that it'd be nice to know just what your father could do.

He stared at her with a big frown on his face. "And now I know why I never liked Halo. I can assure you that necrophilia was never part of my gaming experience. That's just wrong. You'll have to play with me and Sheldon, real games, with no fucking dead people."

Dom turned his head to stare at her. "So does Savannah know? And how soon will she ambush me? I've seen her around Kepner and Westen, and after pissing your father off, I can't afford to piss her off, too, but I can hide." He had no intention of discussing this with the woman. She'd been talking marriage within days.

"Okay, it's not as great right now, because there's still light, but it's pretty cool at night." He stared at the ceiling and pointed. "See? I found glow-in-the-dark stars and formed our constellations, and no, the ones outside aren't exactly the same. There are always some changes." Granted the major ones were the same, so there was no real difference with the ones in his ceiling. "I like to think of it as a piece of home while we find a way there. See? You can make your room yours and not give up."

"Yeah I have a feeling that is one thing I'm not going to be able to get away from, no matter how much I'd like to." Not with her dad there and the training and everything else. "Thanks." She couldn't actually remember the last time she had so many people tell her that they could talk if she needed it - but between Morgan, and Savannah, and Sean, and now Dom - well she was pretty set.

She laughed at the look on Dom's face. "It's all some sort of testosterone fueled thing with them - I don't really get it, it's fun to watch though." Mostly to see just how much the other person would react to it. "He's going to remind me I'm an idiot at some point if I play with you isn't he?"

"Well she knows I went out on a date, but it's possible she doesn't know who I went with. So you might be safe for a few more days." She assured him with a teasing smile. "Sean might talk to you though, but then again he could have been giving me a hard time - or maybe both." She shrugged, but a talk with Sean was going to be pretty painless most likely. "But I think it's best for both of us that we avoid Savannah and her ... fascination with relationships."

Jenna looked up then seeing the faintly glowing stars above them, seeing the constellations taking shape as Dom pointed. "I had a friend who had stars on her ceiling - when we were seven." She said teasing, but looking up at the stars Jenna could see Dom's point. "This is nice though, maybe a little nerdy but it's nice." She sighed moving so she could lay her head on Dom's shoulder. "Do you have a favorite?"

"Unlikely. It's even worse when he and Callen get going. After a while you don't know who's worse... and you don't really need to hear any of this. Sorry, I'll shut up now." Dom admired the man, but he couldn't imagine being his child. It was bad enough having a sergeant for a father. A SEAL turned undercover agent was a whole different ballgame.

"I'm not sure if you're trying to insult me," he said, even though he was joking. At least about the insult. The confusion was real. "I'm a guy. I'm a smart guy who's also an agent, and yet I've never associated testosterone with fucking corpses, especially if those bodies were male, because that's just gay, and I don't care what they call it. Of course, it could also be a power play, showing that they view sex as a power tool. Either way, I'm not sure that it's fun or something to share." He nodded. "You won't have that problem with Sheldon, but you can be certain that he will share just what he thinks of your mental abilities."

Dom chuckled. "I've dealt with your father; your brother is a piece of cake. Savannah is scary, too. She's going to be planning an engagement party before we're even allowed to go out on a second date."

He put his arm around her and held her. "So I'm not manly and I'm childish. Oh, and a little nerdy. Why do I want to date you again?" he asked, grinning. "Let's see, favorite constellations. I'd say Draco, sneaks in between the Ursa Major and the Ursa Minor, faces Hercules. Or I'm just a big Harry Potter fan, but that might be too nerdy."

Jenna wasn't sure what to say - she knew people knew her dad better than she did - G would likely always know him better, but even people like Deeks and Kensi would too, and Dom despite the issue with the dimensions. "Maybe we just avoid talking about my dad when we can, think that'll work?"

She laughed and shook her head. "No, I think it's more an issue of their perceived masculinity than yours." She told him, "Don't worry you'll know when I'm trying to insult you." She assured him with a sweet smile. "I am pretty sure you're right," But sometimes you took any entertainment you could get - whether that was video games or guys being assholes while playing video games. "I could maybe see my way to playing with you sometime, though I'll admit I'm better at the racing games than the shooters." Probably because the racing games were more fun and worked with her competitive nature than the shooters did. It was hard to feel too bad about dying when you just respawned again a few seconds later.

"Well you're more than welcome to start dodging Savannah whenever you like." Jenna told Dom with a grin, though if Savannah thought for a second she was going to start talking to Jenna about possible marriages then the girl had another thing coming.

"You're plenty manly, and just a little childish, and maybe a lot nerdy." She told Dom laughing softly, before she lifted her head to kiss him and shrugged. "You know I'm not entirely sure of that myself, probably because I'm so nice to you though." Jenna grinned while Dom told her about the constellations he liked and then snorted when he brought up Harry Potter. "Yeah, that might just push you over the edge and into the land of too nerdy, but I'll give you a pass. I always liked Orion."

"Doubtful, but we can try," he said, before kissing her gently. "What bothers you? That people talk about him in general? Or his work?"

Dom shook his head, smiling. "Right, now try to insult them, because they aren't present. You're such a horrible woman." He chuckled. "That's fine. I'm a gamer. I can do pretty much anything. Eric likes games too. We can find enough people to form groups. Now, do you think there will be objections about gaming play dates?" he asked, trying to keep a straight face, but he could only laugh about this entire situation. It was that or get depressed and Dom didn't get depressed.

"I plan to. I told you; she's scary, scarier than your father." Sam might yell and threaten, but Savannah would bit down like you were a bone and not let go until she had her fun.

He raised his eyebrows. "Plenty manly. I feel better all ready, although we've established that you're an horrible woman already." He nipped her lip, grinning as he did so. "I should send you out, especially after this little comment. Too nerdy! Really, how absurd. You hurt me so much that I'm considering whether I should tell you that I like Orion as well, mostly because one of its most famous stars is Bellatrix, who accidentally is Draco's aunt. And of course, straight from Orion, you find Sirius and Regulus is nearby. It's not my fault that Jo Rowlings ripped off the constellations. I'm just admiring them."

"You go your whole life feeling like you know someone, even when they're not around much, but you get to know them through emails and the times when they can be there, and then you suddenly find yourself in another dimension and find out you never really knew them at all - and all these other people you've never met know him better than you ever did." She shrugged, "It's just not the easiest thing in the world to come to terms with."

"Isn't that how it works? You insult the people who aren't around so that they won't know you're insulting them?" She asked with a laugh. "I think there will be some serious eye rolling, but we can pull it off."

Jenna laughed. "Yeah well just be grateful she doesn't go around hugging you, or talking about her wedding and what sort of dress would look best on you." She had agreed to do this wedding thing, and she'd even agreed to help with it where she could, but wedding planning was just not something Jenna was ever really going to be interested in.

"Maybe you just have a thing for horrible women? You ever consider that - could be your kink." She smirked against his lips. She laughed when Dom scoffed at her teasing about his being too nerdy. "No it's just your fault that you happen to know that all of those stars and constellations happen to share the names of Harry Potter characters."

"Even if you were living with him, you would have never seen this side of him, or you shouldn't have, not if he was a good father," he said. "I don't think anyone is meant to see this particular side of his or her parents. I remember this kid on post, his dad was special ops, pretty much built like your father, one day he had a beard, one day he didn't, one day he was speaking one language, one day he was speaking another one, but around us, not a word, never. I asked my friend, if his dad ever said anything to him, and he told me that they weren't even allowed to say special ops in the house. They might be elite, but they do a lot of things that they don't want to bring home. Not knowing these things doesn't mean you don't know him; it means you're his daughter and aren't meant to know them."

Dom gasped again. "And here I thought officers had some code of honor. I should have known better. You're just smarter than NCOs and insult people behind their backs. Or maybe you're just not as brave, but that might just be my father's theory," he said, smirking. "I think we can pull it off, especially if you continue laughing like this."

He cupped her jar and traced her cheek bone with his thumb. "We'll leave the wedding planning to her, but I wouldn't mind hugging you, or kissing you." He moved slowly, closing the space between them, before pressing his lips to hers. The intensity increased and his hand moved down her arm and behind her back, pulling her closer as his tongued explored her mouth. He'd have to tell Sheldon that this was a lot more exciting than Corona.

"Not sure I have kinks, but I can develop one if you like. We can even to a computer simulation of possible outcomes, at least I could if they gave me a supercomputer, an why am I talking science while we're kissing?" he asked, mostly too himself. "And nonsense, how could I not know those names? They are constellations. Everyone knows them."

"Maybe, it's a bit hard not to see those sort of things here though." And she didn't like it - not that her father did those sort of things. She could understand the things you did for the job you'd committed to - the way you served your country, but the way she heard some people talk about it, it was like she'd never known him and like she should have known all of this about him before now.

"Oh we have a code of honor, it just doesn't come into play when we're talking about Halo. And let's just hope that's only your father's theory." She said shaking her head. "I think I can manage more laughter, don't you worry about that."

And then Savannah and her wedding plans, and video games and anything else they'd been talking about wasn't nearly as important while they kissed. She smiled against his lips when he pulled her closer, and sighed into the kiss. This was good she decided, much better than teasing Dom or anything else they had been doing.

"I really have no idea, but I'm going to start getting the idea that you'd rather come up with experiments you could be doing instead of kissing if you don't knock it off." She warned him, leaning up to nip at his lower lip gently. Before she shook her head with a huff of something between amusement and just a little frustration - because they were definitely not talking about constellations and Harry Potter when they could be kissing instead. "I'm sure you know all of them, and many more than I do, but if you don't stop talking about them and start kissing me again you're going to become irredeemably nerdy and I just can't have that."

"It'll be impossible. Just remember that regardless what anyone, including him, says, he's not a SEAL. That's his job, not who he is." At least he hoped that it would make it easier for her to deal, because thinking that your father is a SEAL was probably not what a person wanted to do.

Code of honor, Halo, weddings, they all because irrelevant when she talked about more kissing.

"I guess now that the lady has spoken, I know what she wants." He could kiss her. He could do a lot more, but they'd start with the kissing and see where it led them.
