RP: Savannah and April
Who: Savannah and April
Where: April's
When: Monday, May 13, 2013
Summary: They catch up before everyone else arrive

They went to Kentucky and picked everyone up without too much trouble. Savannah had hesitated about the pick up truck they owned. It wasn't something that they could use in the future, but she supposed that it would be more suspicious to just leave it at the airport. They could dispose of it at home.

The flight home was smooth as well. They used the boat to the marina, while Robert teleported the pick up truck, and then one of the military trucks as per Brian's request. Traveling back home was relatively fast since they hit the later part of rush hour, and they were home that it was just past eight in the evening after grabbing some food at a In N Out.

She showed them where each of them was going to be staying and while Eliot helped Nate settle down into his new house, Savannah stayed with April and Eve at Vance's house. "I'm glad you're back," she said, smiling. "I know it's not what you guys wanted, but... I hope you can find a place with us, no matter where we end up and if not... I guess you can always settled in some other dimension."

"Oh, Savannah, I'm sorry," April said, reaching out and touching her friend's hand. "It's not that I don't care, never think that, I just didn't want to pry and push you on a matter so personal. I figured if you were ready, or willing, to talk about it you would."

"I'm sorry, I should have asked beyond asking how you are."

April thought about the question, and she could see the downsides, but she couldn't regret the decision. Living on their own, seeing what life could be like in a world where they could live in peace. "Would we have left if we knew this would be the result? No, there would be no point. Knowing what we did then, believing what we did then, we made the decision that was best for our family. I can't and won't regret the last few months of our lives. I can just make the best of the situation now."

April was confused for a moment, but then smiled when she realised where Savannah's head was. "I meant you bouncing back, but I suppose it applies to both. You're right though, it doesn't really matter."

"You didn't have to pry. A simple sorry would have done. Or acknowledging that Sean was missing Jenna, but also Sam and G. The rest-" She shrugged. "There isn't much to talk about. They are gone. The most important people in this team are gone and we must get ready to find them. We're not stopping until we do find them. No man let behind."

She looked at April sadly. She had wanted them back so badly, even argued with Marty about her and Eliot, but she could hear in her words how wrong this was, not for the team, but for April. She wondered if April even heard what she was saying. "I missed you, but... I'm sorry you're here. You really hate it here. You hate it so much that you can't even see that you have a second chance with so many new people. You wouldn't have reacted like this at the beginning. You would have loved to talk to so many people, but now you sound like you already miss where you were."

Savannah chuckled. "Oh that. Well, yes, we learned together. I have to say that I don't mind missing on the bleeding for weeks after a natural birth. It makes bouncing in any direction much less gross."

"I am sorry, Savannah. I know how much you love them. I also know how determined you are, and I know in my heart you'll find them." If they were still alive. With Jenna there was no finding her. She was just gone.

"I don't hate it here," April assured her. "Is it my first choice? No. Would I rather raise Eve in a place without the guns and the risks and the constant moving? Yes. But I don't hate it, and I'm glad to have you in my life again."

"Give me some time. I wasn't very happy when I first arrived here, not until I started feeling like this could be home. Now I need to get used to that idea again, to this kind of life again."

"And to the idea that I won't be spending my days with her any longer," she said looking at her daughter. Now that was an idea she truly loathed. She liked having her daughter close, and though she tried not to think about it she knew that Robert would most likely be babysitting her at least once a week. Would he treat her differently because she was hers? She wished she trusted him to be a better man than that, but truth was she didn't.

That part was best not mentioned to Savannah, however. Instead she just continued. "I never pictured myself as a mum, especially a stay-at-home mum, but- Well life change, doesn't it? This is just another change, but I do need to wrap my head around it."

She did laugh a bit at the comment about bleeding for weeks. "I promise you didn't miss out on anything by skipping that part," she said. "I wish I could have skipped that."

"I'm not the only one," she said, with a sigh. "Vance won't stop until we find them. He doesn't leave people behind." In the end, it was only Vance's conviction that was taking them there, because there was no other reason to try something so dangerous. They could map a way home and be done.

"Life is strange. I was the one who didn't want this life, who hated the guns, who wanted nothing but to stay at home with m children, while my husband went to work, and now." She looked at Eve, smiling. She was a beautiful baby, just like her Jamie, and yet, she couldn't imagine wanting to stay home with him all day. "I don't think I could go back to that life even if I had the chance. I like the guns. I like knowing that I can protect my family. I like being in the middle of the action, because I can do a lot more good there, than staying home. I love my children, and we're teaching them as much as we can, considering their ages, but staying home with Jamie all day long to watch him sleep?" She shook her head. "I'd rather be with my team, honing my skills, learning new ones, knowing that I can step up and protect them."

Savannah chuckled. "I think people's heads would explode if they heard me say it. Everyone always assumed that if we went back, I'd be happy to stay home and let the rest of the family go back to work. So yes, life changes. We change. The only difference is that we don't get much of a choice around here. We do what we must, and we protect our families. I'm sure you'll be fine."
