"And that's very wonderful," Derek cut in. "I'm sure you can compare people when we land." He stared at the two. "Look, there are plenty of people that can do this better than me, but the bottom line is that without us, you won't last. We'll train you, we'll teach you what you need to know, we'll try to get you home. In exchange, you follow orders and work your ass off so you can survive.
