RP: Nate, Eliot and April
Who:Nate, Eliot and April
Where:On route to Indiana
When: November 17
Summary:It's time to find a home
Getting the car was easy. Avoiding alcohol because he needed to drive the car to the motel less so, but the moment they were heading out, April was behind the wheal and he could take a well deserved drink before it was his turn behind the wheel. After what had happened back home he refused to sit behind the wheel of a car after having had alcohol. If he was ever tempted the image of that little girl in the hospital - nearly dead because of him - was all it took to get him to stay clear of it.
Now though, April was driving and he didn't need to worry for a while. They'd made up a schedule and he knew when he'd have to stop drinking in order for it to be safe. With a flask he'd gotten himself yesterday he could sip his whiskey in the car. Not enough to get him completely drunk (or he'd never get sober in time for his turn) but just enough to make the long drive a bit more tolerable.
They were heading to Indiana, La Porte or Michigan City was still being decided on. They were both small towns, both had a mostly white population, a lot of children's families and the cost of living was quite low apparently. Personally, Nate thought both sounded boring. He missed the city. La, Boston, New York - where you could hide by being one of the crowd. The fact that his phone told him that both places had a fair few bars did make him feel slightly better about the change.
Of course the big perk was not having to do what he was told anymore. Finally he could get some control over his own life again. April might envision them all sharing a place to live, saving up their money until they could buy a farm, but Nate had no such intentions. He wanted a place of his own, and a business of his own on the side of whatever job he had. He'd find some way to help people again, he just needed some time and information, some knowledge of the area, then he'd find a way to help people again.
"What kind of jobs were you thinking of?" he asked them, as he used his phone to look at what available jobs they had in these towns.
