RP: Getting settled
Who: Everyone
Where: Building 21
When: November 17, 2012
Summary: It's time to settle in for real

Leon had been up early and had spoken to both John and Savannah to find out the status. While what they had done in such a short time was impressive, this island was almost 60 square kilometers, with plenty of buildings spread throughout. Smartly, they had preference to the important installations, leaving the housing quarters untouched, which meant they needed to get moving so that they could have a resemblance of homes.

"Ladies and gentlemen, if I could have your attention for a moment. Our first order of business is getting people out of this building and living into homes. We have houses and hotel rooms. The hotel rooms have kitchens and they have doors in between. Family with children can have two and keep the doors open. You can also choose to live in a house. We have three to five bedrooms. If you do live in a house, you will be sharing," he said. "I need everyone to tell me what they want. You can have a few minutes to talk among yourself and then you must tell me your choice. Based on the requests, I will assign the housing. You can see me in private when you're know. Thanks."

For Eric, it was John's death that had affected him most. He'd liked both John and Savannah (it was hard not to) but John was the one who shared his interests and the one he'd spent time with on occasion. He'd been sad to lose him, but loss had been a part of the life here for so long, and he'd worked with Reid and Garcia too. He'd been friends with Ash, he still missed Abby on occasions (at least the Abby he'd known from back home), as well as Kensi.

Which might be why he was one of the few not pissed off at the director right now. Or maybe that had more to do with being used to the secrets and the 'need to know'? As well as a trust that the Director would not have lied if it wasn't in their best interest. Instead he was just glad that John and Savannah were alive.

He put away the computer when Claudia spoke, leaning forwards and resting his elbows on his knees. "I understand why people are, hell if John or Savannah were that close to me maybe I'd be too," he said. "But I also get why he did it."

"Dude, you don't invite the Grim Reaper for dinner," Claudia said. "Death isn't something to kid around with, not if you don't want it to come back and scythe your head. Not to mention it being disrespectful to the people who really lost their lives here."

"So what would you have done in his place? To protect Savannah and John, the group, this place and your plans, making sure nothing leaks to the government. What would your decision be?" Eric asked out of pure curiosity.

He wasn't convinced the Director's decision had been for the best, but he couldn't say that it hadn't been either. In truth he didn't think much about it. The Director always had his own agenda and his own plans that he shared with no one, and Eric was used to working that way. He knew the things he needed to know, he didn't know the ones he didn't need to know.

Feeling his hands itch he grabbed a pen and started playing with it, letting it grow heavier and lighter in his hand, sometimes letting size follow, sometimes letting it keep its size.

"I don't know, but that's not the point. The point is about not messing with people's minds and not messing with death. You saw Brian - he'd completely clocked out. This 'miracle' of them still being alive will only make it more torturous if they really do end up dead. We're talking psych ward-suicide watch levels of bad."

"I'm not arguing with you on how traumatic it is," he said. "I'm just asking if you see an alternative that would keep them as safe?" he asked.

"Not that I don't get why Callen punched the Director, and I'm almost surprised Brian or John hasn't attempted the same yet, but I can also see the reasoning behind the decision since we were watched and listened to 24/7." Maybe that was easier when you worked in the line of work they did, or had back home.

"I have no clue how else to do it," Claudia said. "Back home, I've been lied to a lot and haven't been told things a lot because of the job. I get that part. Doesn't mean I can't think the way this went down is a good thing, or even a neutral thing. It's bad juju all around, in my opinion."

Eric shrugged. "I'm just glad I'm not the one making those decisions," he said. He preferred being the one doing things than the one deciding what needed to be done.

Unless it came to computers, but that was another thing.

"What do you think of the island, though?" he asked. He'd been out in the crack of dawn for once, checking in the beach and the waives. He couldn't wait to get his hands on a surfing board and get out there. "Have you seen the waives?"

"Do you surf?" he then asked.

Claudia was still pissy, but not at Eric. She grumbled and settled again. "The island's kinda cool. Surfing I have not done. Not many waves in inner Washington State or South Dakota."

"Then you have to learn," Eric said firmly. "It's the best thing ever. It's just you and the waives pushing yourself to see how big waives you can take on." He grinned as he spoke, his entire face lighting up when he spoke about surfing. If there was one thing he'd missed while here it was surfing. The occasional surf he'd had here wasn't nearly enough to satisfy someone who had grown up surfing.

"I can teach you if you want," he added.

"Tubular." Claudia gave Eric the Hang Ten sign with a grin. "Sounds like fun. I'm always up for new and adventurous things. It'll give us something else to do besides work on our earbuds and slaughter things in video games."
