RP: Halloween Party
Who: Public (add your tags)
Where: Team Lounge
When: October 31, 2012
Summary: They have a Halloween party despite everything

They were a resourceful group, that was sure. Even in his bad mood, Brian went with her and Tim to get decorations. They ended up with a lot more than Alexis had planned at cheaper prices. Brian was a master at doing this.

Cheap orange and black fabric covered all the walls. They had gotten a few dollar plastic pumpkins, webs, a skeleton, food, Halloween bowls and cups. She hadn't even spent close to the six hundred dollars she had collected. She was so going to put that aside for Thanksgiving or whatever other party they would have.

Sean had taken care of the music. John had helped with the lights. Everyone had helped setting up, moving things around so that people could sit and talk on one side of the room, or dance on the opposite side.

It wasn't anywhere as exciting as Webster Hall, but it was a party. They could have fun.

"What does that mean?" Nate asked, and his attention was on April for a moment. He had a new glass of whiskey in his hand, and ready to pour one to Eliot too if he wanted another one.

"Light's good right? It's what we're actually seeing, isn't it? So if he can tell things are bright... will he get his sight back?"

April was smiling even before Nate's question. "Yes, light is good," she said. "I can't promise you that you'll have your sight back," she told Eliot. "But seeing light is definitely a good sign."

"How does it feel if you compare it to when you lost your sight? Is it the same kind of pain or is it different? Does it hurt when you're not in the light?" she asked. "How painful would you say it is, on a scale of one to ten."

"That didn't hurt, that I remember. My vision just went away. Right now, any brighter light than this hurts like a sonofabitch." Eliot's pain scale was different than a normal person's, so he ignored the question. "The light in here is fine now. It's not causing any pain to my eyes."

Eliot took another drink of water rather than have anything heavier again. April's words about getting his sight back wasn't exactly reassuring. "The x-ray-like vision is gone. I can't see anything. This had better not be permanent, or...," Eliot trailed off, then grunted.

Reaching out, April stroked Eliot's cheek. "If you react to light, this likely won't be permanent," she said. "But it might take time. Remember how long it took you to fully develop that x-ray vision? Or how long time it took Mike to get back on duty after his senses heightened? Don't expect miracles at once. You have eyes again, lets take one miracle at the time, okay."

"If light still cause you pain in the morning we'll get you eye patches and train you slowly until you get used to it."

"I remember," Eliot said. He might have to learn how to do things all over again. At least he had and knew how to use the equipment this time around.

Despite the headache, Eliot wasn't ready for bed. He wouldn't sleep even if he went. "How 'bout that movie we were gonna watch?"

"If you're sure that you're up for it," Nate said, opening the laptop and turning on the film. He wasn't sure it was the best thing, but Eliot was a grown man and could make his own decisions.

He took a sip of his whiskey, seemingly relaxing back in the sofa even though he kept an eye on Eliot. April on her side of him, curled up close to him, her arm resting across his torso as she and Nate watched and Eliot listened.

"If you get tired, we'll go upstairs," she said. Eliot nodded, but for now, neither one of them moved. Nate really hoped Eliot would get his eyesight back. He wasn't an optimist, but this time he allowed himself a bit of hope.
