April and Eliot
April was not unobservant, she didn't fail to observe how offended a lot of them were of her words, but she would not take them back or apologize for wanting to put her child's well being first. There was nothing she could do for the people who had already died, and the others' decisions were their own to make. She said nothing about this, however, just waited until they were dismissed so that she and Eliot could go off and talk.
They hadn't talked much yesterday, instead they'd watched in horror with the others. Eliot was pissed off and quiet and when things calmed down a bit they'd talk about it, but now they had a decision to make and not nearly enough time to make it.
Taking Cody as they headed outside, they let him run as they walked. "So what do you want to do?" she asked once they were alone. "I know I'm being selfish, and it's not that I don't want to help the victims of all of this, or do what I can to stop this from happening again, but returning to the base scares me, especially where our daughter is concerned."
"What if they attack us again? They know so much more than what they did when they attacked last time and this time we'd be carrying her as well as our go bags. I want to help, but I'm afraid." She forced herself to stop talking.
