RP: Tyra and Reid
Who: Tyra and Reid
Where: the ranch
When: Marcy 25, 2012
Summary: Tyra and Reid play with their powers

Life at Omega was nothing how she had imagined. Tyra remembered one of her earliest conversation with Troy. She hadn't like him much, too judgmental, too cautious, too worried about what sex might do. Tyra had dismissed him arguments, sure that she'd have a good time, find guys, except that none of that had happened, and now she watched as slowly people paired up.

Part of her had hoped that she and Tim could find what they once had, but he was so smitten with Alexis that she didn't even try to get in the middle of that. She ended up spending a lot more time with Reid. It was weird, because the man was a genius, and they had nothing in common, but he was kind of cute, the way Landry was, and they could talk about things that Tyra didn't even know existed. She loved it. Their initial conversations turned into something more, just a kiss, going shopping today, watching TV. That was what they had done the night before while making plans for today.

This morning, they ended up near the hill at the furthest point in the ranch. She could tell that he was upset about something, probably something to do with Derek and Emily, but with Reid one could never tell. She didn't pry, though, instead, she distracted with her powers. It was a game they did, pushing their powers, showing off, amuse. It was simple and one of the few things they could do.

"You can't stop this," Reid said with that matter of fact tone he had, although Tyra recognized the smugness as he made a tree move in a way that reminded her of the Lord of the Rings movies.

"Oh just wait." She concentrated. If he could make the tree moves, she could make the earth move. The rumble underneath her feet build up. It was only supposed to be a slight shake, but somehow it gained a momentum of its own and fear grasped her, making her impossible for her to get control of her power. The more the earth moved, the more scared she got, and the more scared she got, the more the earth moved.

"Tyra, you need to stop. Listen to me," Reid said, grasping her shoulders, but she could barely hear him with all the noise around them. Rocks began falling. She tried to stop it, she really did, and then -

Reid never saw it coming.

Hundreds of rocks of different shapes and size coming their way, as fast as bullets, just as lethal. When the earth stopped moving, there were two bodies, lying next to each other, half covered in dirt, silent as the land around them.

Troy couldn't believe that Tyra was pulling this crap today of all days. Didn't people know that they should wait until after March Madness to do something stupid? If she had just gone out to fuck, he was going to be really pissed, but he knew that not doing something was going to get all of them in trouble. Of course, the option that she was out there fucking was better than the alternative.

He volunteered to go tell Callen while the rest still looked for her. He knocked on Robert's door, knowing that today they were all there. "Hey."

"Hey there," Robert said as he opened the door. "Come on in; Sean is here."

"Thanks, but I'm not here for Sean," he said as he stepped inside. "Sorry to interrupt dinner, but we think Tyra is missing. She was supposed to have lunch with us, but she didn't show up. We gave her some time, and then called her, but nothing. We started looking for her at the house, the club, training house. We even went to Reid's since she spends time with him, but he wasn't there and Sheldon has no idea when he last saw Reid. We tried calling him, too, but nothing. Nell is going to Derek's, while Tim and Alexis are checking the empty houses, but we can't imagine why they'd be there. We checked the cars too, and they are here, so we're probably overreacting, but... yeah, we thought you should know."

G didn't bother asking how long ago she was supposed to meet them for lunch. If she was late enough they'd already searched as much as they had, chances were it was long enough to be concerned. Especially this bunch, that was made up of the most laid back personalities on the ranch.

"Sorry, Little Brother, looks like we're rain-checking dinner. Okay, unless we're going to have another revelation to lead us right to them without search parties," he cast a glance toward Renko. They hadn't had a chance to discuss the last episode yet, but G was betting if he'd heard the others in distress, he'd have spoken before now. "Savannah, can we borrow Nova? She and Harley might be helpful. Don't know what kind of training the cattle dogs are getting, or we could use them, too. We'll break into the property into four quadrants again, same groups as before. Sam and Sean take the southeast. Take Riggins with you. And call Morgan; he and Prentiss can take the Morrows and head to the northeast. Marty and Dom take the northwest. Renko, you're with them if you're up to it. I'll get Spencer and we'll take the southwest. Bolton, call Nell and tell her I need her and Eric at the office to run communications between the teams. Then go with Marty's group. Savannah, call John and get him in the air on a perimeter sweep. Kinney can follow him in the truck. I'll call Vance. Robert, if you're okay leaving Liam with Savannah and Jenna, I could use you with me and Spencer.

"Everyone get your teams and we'll meet at the office in ten. Head out at once after doing the round of inevitable questions. And be careful in the rocky areas, near the trees. That shaker this morning might have been small, but there haven't been any aftershocks. Last thing we need is someone caught under something if a bigger one comes along while we're out there."

"I'll put things away here for later, and sure take Nova." Savannah turned to Robert. "I'll take care of Liam, don't worry."

Robert nodded, and turned to Mike. "Anything?" He looked at G when Mike said that there were two heart beats missing. "This isn't a search and rescue mission." The implication was left unsaid, but he doubted that anyone here didn't know what it meant. "If they got caught in that shaker, you don't want to send Morgan in the North."

G didn't say anything for a second, the sharp urgency leaving with Renko's announcement. "Damn." Nodding, he turned to Sam. "Tell Morgan his team will take the southwest. Rob and I will take the northeast. We'll have Harley. Marty's team will have Nova. Jenna, while Savannah calls John, call April and let her know. Let's move. Everything else can be hammered out once everyone's at the office before we go."

And now G had to call Vance and tell him they'd likely lost two more. Their track record so far seriously sucked.

April looked at the two bodies in front of her with sadness. Once more there was nothing she could do but determine why they'd died, and this time it wasn't even hard. The rubble they'd been found in and the injuries you could see with your pure eyes matched only far too well.

The autopsy only confirmed what she already knew, and once she was done April spent most of the time cleaning Reid up enough for people to see him. She didn't even try with Tyra, her skull and face was entirely crushed and you couldn't even see that it was her. There would be nothing she could do to make that less horrible and so instead April just did what she had to do in order to get her ready to burn.

From both, she collected a small sample for the machine. After she'd collected the read outs from each she put the samples with that which would be destroyed.

Once finished, she let the Director know of the cause of death, and that anyone who wished to say good bye to Reid could come and do so and that Tyra was ready to be burned.

Dom/Sheldon

Dom couldn't believe that they had lost another two people, that they had lost Reid. He liked Tyra, but he worked with Reid on a daily basis. The man was brilliant, a mind both in the sciences and in the field. It's not that some people were worth more than others, but it was hard not to appreciate someone of Reid's brilliancy.

It was probably the only reason he was still hanging around the main house and he saw Sheldon there. His entire routine would be thrown out the window and it'd be a bitch to deal with him in the morning. Dom figured that it was much easier to deal with it tonight.

"Hey, Sheldon. How are you adjusting? Did they tell you where you will be staying tonight?" he asked, knowing that it would be the important thing for Sheldon.

Sheldon had been hard at work for weeks on end. He had barely left his computer outside of mandatory activities and meetings or when someone had bothered him to leave. He had on the rare occasion gotten up to do something when he was stuck on a portion of the math.

He felt like he was getting close to figuring out how another dimension could be accessed. Granted, that was only a small portion of the greater puzzle. There were still the problems of figuring out and specifying a particular dimension and then the power that would be required. But he had been on the edge of his seat for days now.

Sheldon was walking around the main house mumbling steps in an equation when Dom spoke to him.

"Hello, friend Dom," Sheldon said with a cheery smile. "Adjusting? Oh, yes, you mean to the departure of Spencer. I will miss our conversations, even if he did waste parts of it on matters of no import."

He then shook his head. "They said they are still trying to find a place for me. I told them that you should just move in with me. Jenna can clearly handle the offspring on her own. It's the only logical course of action."

"Yes, Reid was a very smart man. Well, not as smart as you, but brilliant nonetheless." Was it sad that he was more sadden by the loss of that intelligence than the person? Maybe he was spending too much time with Sheldon.

He listened to Sheldon's conclusion and tried hard not to laugh. The suggestion made perfect sense from Sheldon's point of view. In fact, if he didn't think that Blaze would drive Sheldon insane, he would have asked the man to stay with them. "I don't think it's that simple, but if you don't mind putting up with Blaze for the night, you can stay with us for tonight, at least until they figure out new housing arrangements."

"No one is as smart as me," Sheldon replied, completely unaware of the social unacceptability of the claim especially given the current situation.

Sheldon considered the man's suggestion. He hated babies. They were loud. Dirty. And stupid. Well, that described 99.9999% of the human race, so he supposed he could tolerate one for a single night. "I'll wear my ear plugs. I'll trust you to wake me of any danger that requires auditory sensation to detect. I never trust anyone to do that." It's why he preferred not to use ear plugs.

"I wasn't trying to say otherwise," Dom said with a smile, which was probably inappropriate, but some things had to stay the same to keep things moving forward.

Dom nodded. "Of course I will. If it makes you feel better, your room is opposite the nursery and when Jenna goes to get Blaze, I'll wake you up and make sure to take you out if there's a reason to do so. I'll protect you with my life." He would too, because Sheldon was their best opportunity to get home. "I'll let Callen and Derek know that you're set for the day and then we worry about a more permanent solution in the morning."

Derek/Emily

When Garcia had died, there had been no time to mourn. There was an escape, then driving across country, then settling down. It had been horrible not to have the time, but it had also been a blessing.

Now, there was no escape. Reid was dead and there was so much that had been left unsaid and unresolved. The fact that it was so senseless made it even harder.

Derek stood in the infirmary. Two beds, two covered bodies, two more people dead. He pulled down the sheet that covered Reid and leaned down to kiss his forehead. "I'm sorry, kid. I'm so sorry. I'll never forget you, you know that? If there's that God that you and Garcia believed in, I bet your both in heaven right now, having a party. Don't let her boss you around or you'll end up shopping and carrying shoes for her even in the afterlife. You take care of each other for me, okay?"

He stood up, eyes red as the tears fell down his cheek. when he turned, he pulled Emily close and hugging her tight.

During the first few weeks she'd worked with the BAU, Reid had been kidnapped and JJ accused Emily of compartmentalizing too well for someone who'd come from a desk job. JJ couldn't believe that Emily never blinked. Of course, the desk job had been a lie.

And, Emily was blinking now.

As Morgan reached for her, she held on just as tightly. It was nothing short of a cruel irony that a year ago she and Reid had been in the opposite places, Emily presumed dead and Reid mourning her loss. They had never quite gotten past that deception and now they never would.

"He never gets to say good-bye."

Derek wasn't ready for goodbyes, not another one. There had been too many losses. First his job and team, then Garcia, then the idea of children and now Reid. He couldn't say goodbye.

"Because it's not. Maybe they are right, maybe there's something more and we'll see them again. I can't believe that this is it, Em. It's... there has to be more." He had fought the idea of God for so long, argued with Reid on more than one occasion and now he was holding onto this idea, because the alternative was too unbearable.

He looked at the body again, the tears still there. "This is a 'see you later', and he's probably laughing his ass off at all the things he knows now and how clueless we still are. Him and Garcia, sipping a Cosmo while shaking their heads at us."

"No offense, but if this is what it takes to make a believer out of you, I would rather you'd stayed disbelieving," she teased softly, turning her head to the side so she wouldn't have to let go of Derek but could still see Reid.

It didn't help. There was no clinical detachment when the body on the slab was a friend who had shared late night movies and pre-work cups of coffee. She'd put that friendship in danger to protect him, to keep him alive and there were cracks in the friendship that hadn't been repaired. It wasn't fair and she took a moment to whine about that unfairness now while they had this moment alone before they had to go back outside and be a lead and his second-in-command again. It wasn't fair at all. Reid hadn't deserved this. Garcia hadn't deserved it. Derek didn't deserve it.

"Garcia might be dumping that Cosmo over his head if he's going on at length about all that new-found knowledge." Her own tears were silent pools gathering in her lashes that she blinked away. She didn't want to stay there, just looking at her friend's lifeless body. And, yet, she didn't want to leave because once they walked away that was it. He was really gone. "There's bound to be a shoe store in Heaven she can drag him to, right?"

Derek wouldn't say he was a believer. "I need something, Em, but point taken," he said with a tiny smile, before kissing her forehead. "I can be my usual agnostic self in the morning if you like."

He squeezed her gently, because this was the only thing he could give her: his support. Still, the smile got a little bigger. "She wouldn't. She's found a pen with feather or something equally ridiculous and waving it at him while threatening to shut him up with cupcakes that don't come out as good as you'd want."

Pulling back just slightly, he looked at her. "I'm sure there is, right next to a book store, and they are going to a ball together." He pressed his forehead against hers, fighting as the tears started again. "I need to go." He'd held it together for Garcia, too busy to feel, but now everything was coming back. "Come with me?"

"Would that that would change anything." But, she smiled faintly as he described a heavenly altercation she could imagine only too well. God, she was going to miss them, crazy pens and boring lectures and all.

This sucked.

It was a part of the job she would never get used to, no matter how often they had to go through it. But, there was another part of the job, or her job as his partner at least, that helped her keep going. Derek needed her support and she could stay strong for that, for him. Nodding, she hugged him tighter for a moment before stepping back. "Let's go."

Alexis/Tim

All color had drained from Tim's face when the news came of Spencer's and Tyra's deaths. Immediately he had lost any sense of where he was and it took him time to focus again, to block out the sourceless ringing noise that he was hearing. His mind rushed with emotions of all different sorts and kinds.

He was never someone to panic in a situation, any situation. And he wasn't panicking now. But he was largely unaware of what was happening. The next thing he remembered he was in the infirmary, staring at the bed that held Tyra's lifeless body, draped in a cover. He had been warned not to remove the cover. That her body was too mutilated by rubble.

"You, stupid--", Tim paused, his throat closed up, tears slowly forming and rolling down his face. "Ty--" He didn't know what to say to her. He knew deep down there was nothing he could say or do that would make any difference now. She was gone. Dead. "I--" He took a deep breath and tried to swallow, hoping he could get something out. "I'm going to miss you." He wiped away the fresh batch of tears, patted the cover over her arm, and then let Alexis lead him out. When they were in the hallway, he pulled Alexis into him, gripping her so tight as if he would never let her go.

Troy had pulled her aside and told her that they thought Tyra and Reid were dead if they were on the ranch. Despite the cars being there, she was hoping that they had walked off, but she knew how unlikely that was. Still, she stayed close to Tim until the call arrived, and then she'd stayed with Tim, waiting with him.

She let him say his goodbyes, while she stood behind him, hand on his back. It wasn't until they were outside that he seemed to snap out of it, or at least to react. "I'm sorry, baby. I know how much she meant to you." She kept him tight. "Come on, baby, let's go home. You shouldn't stay here."

Tim slowly released his grip around Alexis and let her lead the way. "Can we stay at your place tonight? I don't think I could bear to stay at mine." In a normal circumstance, Tim would just assume they'd be in her bed. But this grieving thing and the way it wrecked with your mind was new to him.

When they were inside, Tim tried to start a conversation about something, anything else, but no words came out. After a couple of minutes, he cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, I just can't speak." He took a few deep breaths.

When he could finally manage a few words, "Have you lost someone, Alexis?"

"Of course, you're staying at mine. You shouldn't have to be alone." She was sure that almost everyone would agree, but they'd be thinking about security. She was thinking about Tim and she knew that Sean wouldn't mind.

Alexis walked with him in silence, giving Tim the time he needed. In her room, she helped him take his jacket off and led him to the bed. They just sat there for a while until Tim spoke up. "You don't have to say anything." There wasn't much to say anyway.

"Not like this. My grandpa, but he'd been sick for a while and I was little. My mom moved away with the divorce, coming here, but never like this. Being in this dimension has brought home just how fragile we all are," she said, softly.

Tim managed a half smirk for the first time since the news came down, "I didn't think I'd be alone regardless whose house we were at." He squeezed her hand tight.

He wiped away what he hoped would be the last of the tears for awhile, and his throat was beginning to deconstrict. "That's so true. It also brings home how careful we have to be. Not just about not getting caught. But not losing control. Not losing awareness of what's happening around us like what happened to me a little bit ago. I can usually maintain my cool."

He wrapped an arm around her and slowly stroked her hair with a hand. "Do you think your dad's still looking for you? I'd imagine Billy didn't have much time to look for me between the kids. And he probably thinks I just wanted to be on my own for awhile. Of course it's been more than awhile now."

Alexis smiled. "I mean that there's no reason for you to be there. We'll figure out things tomorrow, okay?"

She nodded. "In a way, I'm glad of my power. Sure, it's not as cool as some of the others, but I can't hurt people. I become invisible and protect myself, but I'm not going to hurt people that way."

She turned toward him, putting an arm around him. "I know he is. My dad isn't going to stop. Ever. He's not the type, and I'm not the type to run away. I've never done anything wrong, and he knows it. I worry about him, because he wouldn't have taken it well and I'm here, I know I'm okay, but he doesn't and I wish I could do something to help him."
