RP: St. Patrick's at the Club
Who: Everyone invited (add your tags if your pups are there)
Where: The Club
When: Saturday, March 17, 2012
Summary: There's more to the holiday than green beer. There's good music, too.

Irish music was not a usual choice for guys like Sean. He knew this. But, Sean loved the excuse of playing an evening of Irish music. Sure, you had mournful Irish aires sung by women with ethereal voices. But, the heart of Irish music, Irish culture, was the ceilidh music, pub music. Whiskey plus music and you had a party.

And there was so much instrumental music to showcase the talent of his band! Reels, jigs, hornpipes. They didn't have the right instrumentation. But, they could fake it. They had the fiddle in Alexis. The guitars and drums were versatile, though you couldn't really fake a bodhran with a kit, and the keyboard could be set to sound almost like an accordion. The finishing touch was the penny whistle. It was a widely used instrument in Irish music and, luckily for Sean, sold in almost every toy store in America as a 'toy flute' because people were dumb and thought anything that looked that deceptively simple had to be for children.

Sean was including short instrumental only sets between the vocal sets this week to give the players something to really jam with. They had arrangements of everything from Morrison's Jig and Paddy Cronin's Reel to The Titanic Set and Whollop The Cat.

And the vocal sets were even more varied. From the tradition tunes like Mairi's Wedding and Whiskey in the Jar to more modern folk rock like Johnny Tarr and Johnny Jump Up. Emily did a set of Sinead O'Connor and Dolores O'Reardon, including God Be With You and the Cranberries' Zombie. G and Rob provided U2 songs. Sean, of course, had a very eclectic set that included traditional, rock, and the parody songs A Fairy Story and The Farmer.

Besides the music, there was the usual food and drink, dancing...Nell's laughing attempt at a clumsy step dance included. It was just a fun night for partying with friends and colleagues.

"I think a bottle of water can be arranged," Jenna said with a smile. "He is napping, but not in Dom's guitar case," she said with a smile. "We can go and see him if you want, but he's likely to be asleep for another hour or so."

She looked at him, smirking. "So when are you planning on telling me about what's going on with you and Troy?" she asked teasingly. "Because I do so wish to have the opportunity to say I told you so, because I totally did."

Sean grabbed a bottle and offered one to Jen. "Go and see him? Are you depriving my nephew of a solid musical education?" he teased. "Poor, deprived Blaze."

Popping the cap on the water, he was in the middle of taking a sip when she got to the point of the conversation. Sean was just grateful she was keeping her voice low enough most of the family wouldn't overhear. Of course, as Savannah had pointed out, there was a reason he'd been more comfortable about slipping when they were writing emails.

"I guess it depends." He shrugged casually, still teasing. But he knew the answer was probably written all over his face. He could be discrete when he had to be, but he'd never been able to get much past Jenna. "What did you tell me so about? I might need you to jog my memory."

Jenna laughed. "More like I don't want him waking up, or damage his hearing. He's in the other room."

Chuckling, Jenna nudged him with her hip. "Getting amnesia, are we?" she teased. "You know perfectly well what I told you, and even if you don't tell me I know anyway. You're not that good at hiding it, you know."

"I'm hurt you think so little of our set-up that we'd damage his hearing." Sean put a hand to his chest, still grinning.

"If you know anyway," he said, taking another sip of water and leaning one shoulder against the nearest wall with one hand in his pocket, "there's no reason for me to say anything. Is there?" He'd always had difficulty keeping these things from his sister. Something in the way he looked at a person would usually give him away. He couldn't help it. So, he wasn't quite surprised, after her visit to the office the day before, Jen had picked up on the difference with Troy.

Of course, that was also part of the problem. She'd seen something and told him. On top of Dad's 'want you to have someone' speech, it had been enough to make him doubt himself and his feelings. "Could you maybe not tell anyone else what you know?" he asked. "There are no secrets or anything. If the family asks you don't have to lie. But, this isn't a good time for the full craziness of the Hanna and Callen clan."

Jenna chuckled and shrugged. "Better safe than sorry," she said with a grin. "You wouldn't want me to risk your nephews chances of appreciating how good you are in the future, would you?" she added teasingly.

He didn't need to tell her, that much was true, but his smile told her all she needed to know, as did the next question. "Tell them what exactly?" she asked with a smirk. "It's not like you told me or anything. It's just speculations from a nosy sister, after all." She winked at him and leaned in and kissed his cheek. "Don't worry about it, I won't say anything," she whispered in his ear.
