RP: Savannah, Hetty
Who: Savannah, Hetty
Where: Memphis, New York
When: November 9, 2010
Summary: Savannah isn't in Kansas anymore, or Memphis either

Savannah had gone home to see her mother. She hadn't said anything about Marti and Dan, because she knew that it would show that her mother was right, and she was not. Just because they were jerks and they lied to her, it didn't mean that everyone was. People were generally nice, if you smiled and talked to them. Really, even people that had sneered at her were now her friends, because she had been nice despite everything. If people thought she was a little strange, so be it. She was happy and made people happy.

Except that her team wouldn't be happy if she was late.

She stepped on the gas of her environmentally friendly Prius, going a whole FIVE miles over the speed limit, when she saw something. She tried to break, but when she did, there was nothing there. Not even the street. And OMG was that man eating from the garbage can. She winced. Maybe she should give him some money for lunch. And maybe if she opened her door, she'd be raped and killed. Choices, choices. When did the neighborhood become so bad? Really, this was horrendous, but she couldn't let the man eat that stuff.

Savannah looked into her back and found her lunch. She took it out and then got out of the car, locking it again. "Sir... Sir... here, there's food here. My mother just insisted that I take it with me to the dorm, even if it's really unnecessary since we can all cook, but there's some lasagna. It's got no pork, so if you have any religious guidelines, you can probably still eat this. There's also some shrimp salad, unless your Jewish, in which case you can give it to some Christian friend." She kept talking while the man looked at her like she was crazy. She was only doing a good deed, why was it so strange? Still he grabbed the food and left.

Sighing, she went back to her car, determined to find the right way back to campus and not be late for cheers, when something hit her in the neck and she fell to the ground, unconscious.

Tracking down the background on their newest arrival had been painfully easy, even if the resultant file was almost as thin as Callen's. Hetty had it completed and put together by the time the girl even woke up. It must be nice to still be so young, a blank slate presented to the world. Stepping through the door of the interrogation room shortly after being informed the girl was awake, Hetty smiled at their newest recruit.

"Hello, Miss Monroe. Welcome to New York. My name is Henrietta Lang. But, you may call me Hetty." She offered her hand before stepping back, not bothering to take a seat in the chair provided for her by the table, but instead using the table as an arm rest of sorts while they spoke. "I apologise for the abruptness of your arrival here. Are you feeling alright, no lingering headache?"

The girl was young and a civilian from all they had gathered. A bit lighter touch could be called for.

Savannah blinked the fog away, trying to concentrate because the woman was talking, and it was impolite not to pay attention, but then she mentioned New York, and she had Savannah's full attention.

"That can't be. Ms. Lang... Hetty, you don't understand, I can't be in New York. I was in Memphis with my car, and I was driving to campus and I was running late and then there was this homeless guy, and I stopped to give him my lunch, but that's not important, you see? Because now I'm late, really late, and we're going to National, and I need to be there, because I'm the captain and the squad needs me," he said, stopping to breathe.

"When can you send me back? It needs to be soon, because I don't know what I'll do. Vanessa's going to have a fit when she finds out." She tilted her head and frowned. "Why New York? You're not trying to make us lose the competition? Because that's not going to happen. We're going all the way to Nationals and we're going to win."

"I can assure you, it not only can be, but is, dear." Hetty let the girl prattle on until she ran out of steam, interrupting only once with an amused not at all when she asked if they were trying to make her squad lose it's competition. When there was a moment's break, she shook her head.

"Unfortunately, I cannot send you back just now." Using that opening, Hetty explained, simply, about the experiment that had gone wrong, their sudden arrivals here, and how they were still working on a way to send them back.

"But, there are some upsides. We've found that people from our dimension gain a special power when they come to this one. Each one is unique so far." She went on to explain about how those powers could be put to use, just a little bit, and the sort of training she'd be put through.

"It's a lot to take in. But, I can answer any of your immediate questions now before we get you settled into a room."

Savannah listened to every word, without interrupting. She was old, older than her parents, and you didn't interrupt old people. She even paid attention to rifts, dimensions, powers. Even without the fact that, the idea went against her religion. Everyone knew that there was one world, created by God. However, disregarding that, she was pretty sure that even physics said that it was impossible.

When Hetty finished, she looked at her, trying to decide if she should ask what was on her mind, and decided that she really had no choice. "Do you drink? Because alcoholism can affect your mental abilities. There are some good centers. Unless you're taking something, and drugs are really, really bad for you."

She stood up. "So can I go now? I really need to get back to school."

Hetty laughed briefly, both at the words the girl spoke and the thoughts in her head. Miss Munroe was going to be an interesting one to place when they began creating teams for future missions.

"Never before noon, dear, and only with good company to go with an excellent vintage."

She shook her head. "Sit down, Miss Munroe. I understand how difficult this is to believe. The idea of alternate dimensions and other realities is a thing of fiction to us. However, I assure you this is real. As real as the city outside these walls. And I'm told watching the skyline is particularly inspiring." At least, to those of their world who could immediately recognise the difference. But, she suspected stating that difference outright would not win this one over. She would have to see for herself.

"Tell me, Miss Munroe. Do you believe in Heaven? Hell?"

Savannah looked at the old woman unimpressed. Sarcasm was a way to shield oneself because one had something to hide. Savannah didn't like people who hid things.

"More like it's crazy and you must be drunk or high, and I don't want to waste my time, when I should be practicing." She rolled her eyes. Why would she care about skylines? She needed Memphis, not New York, if she was even in New York.

"Of course I believe in Heaven and Hell. Now, can we just go outside? I'll show you that it's not New York and I can go back to campus." Vanessa was going to kill her when she got there.

Hetty humphed a little at that thought. Sarcasm, indeed. They were very sensible guidelines.

"Very well. Let us not waste any more time." Waving at the door, Hetty led the girl through the hallways until they were standing outside. She said nothing, but merely led the way outside. A pair of dark suited security personnel fell into step just behind them as they left the building and Hetty turned the girls attention to the two most prominent towers in their view.

"Tell me, Miss Munroe. You believe in Heaven and Hell. Can you tell me exactly where they are?"

Savannah walked outside and Hetty pointed toward the skyline on the North side, which was... well filled with tall buildings, but they were really far and those buildings could be anything. In fact, she couldn't even tell how tall they was from here. "Nice buildings, so we're not in Memphis. Can you tell me how to get back? I have a credit card; I'll pay for it, if that's the issue. Why would you even want me here? I'm a cheerleader." She couldn't help think of that stupid show: Save the cheerleader, save the world. "Really you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV."

She raised an eyebrow. "Of course. Heaven is above us and Hell is below us. Doesn't everyone know that?" It seemed pretty simple to her.

"There is a saying, Miss Munroe. Truth is stranger than fiction." Hetty could already tell this one was going to drive people batty -- almost everyone who had come over so far, she was certain. But, the truth was, they didn't need this girl to believe them now. Not everyone was as ready to just 'go with it' and follow orders as others were. What was important was getting the girl contained. "Above and below are very general terms. Is Heaven in the sky? Hell underground? Can you tell me exactly where they are and why we can't simply fly a plane to Heaven or dig our way into Hell?"

A car pulled up at the curb and one of the security personnel who had followed them stepped up to open the door. Hetty motioned for Savannah to get in, while the second of the security team ushered her toward the door from behind. "This is for you. It will take you to where you need to be."

"Sure it is." Maybe if she humored the lady, she would get home sooner, and that was all that counted. "Of course you can't. You need to be dead to go there, although I'm pretty sure you can take a boat to Hell, and of course you can't leave. Satan wouldn't let you. Your soul is trap there forever and every."

Savannah smiled brightly. "Oh, the airport. Finally something that makes sense. Thank you... although do you have my car? I can't leave without my car. Daddy bought it for me, but that was before I left the house and he won't buy me another one now. I really need my car. I'll have to drive back to Memphis, because no way I can afford to ship the car back home. So where's my car?"

Hetty smiled. "So if I understand you correctly, Heaven and Hell are places we can't see, can't get to by normal means, and once there we can't get out? But, they exist alongside our own Earth? Sort of like alternate dimensions one can get to under special circumstances, in this case, dying and judgement by God? And while souls of the dead travel out of this Earth into these other realms of Heaven and Hell, still other souls travel into Earth as the newly born?"

As she spoke, Hetty and the security team continued to usher the girl toward the car. "You left Memphis, Miss Munroe. Your car did not make the same trip. We did not bring it here when we brought you. Now, shall we? We'll escort you the rest of the way."

"Oh please don't be stupid," she said without thinking and then brought her hand to her mouth. "Sorry, I didn't meant to be rude, but that's just really ridiculous. You shouldn't make fun of Heaven and Hell or you'll end up in Hell, when you die. They aren't alternate dimensions that exist alongside. They are were God is. They exist at the same time in the same place. We just can't see them. Just because we aren't dead, it doesn't mean that it's somewhere else. They are just... there, and we're too insignificant to see them."

Savannah glared at the woman. "Why not? Do you know how expensive a car is? I can't just go out and buy it. I need money, so no, I'm not going until you give me the money for my car or my car. In fact, I want a phone so I can call the cops. First you kidnap me, then you steal my car. I don't care who you are or what sort of strange religious ideas you have, I want to speak with a cop and I want to call my parents. Right now."

Hetty merely looked at the girl. Clearly the first thing she would need to be taught is the use of comparative description and deductive reasoning. What they were going to do with this one, she had no idea.

But, she'd figure something out.

"Miss Munroe. I did not say we left it in the exact spot. Merely that we did not bring it here." She waved impatiently at the building they had just exited. "Now, you have asked to be brought to your car and I have a car waiting to take you to where you need to go. Why do you insist on standing here arguing with me instead of getting in?"

"Because you've been lying to me since I got her! For all I know you're going to put me in that car, rape me, kill me and cut me to pieces," she answered.

"You've kidnapped me and have stolen my car, and now you want me to trust you and I should get into this car without knowing where you are taking me." She crossed arms. "I want to talk to my parents." Either that, or kick this woman and make a run for it. She was fast, very fast, and if they wanted to kill her, they could anyway. At least she'd try to make it out from this place.

"I have told you things you do not wish to believe." Hetty could certainly tell her more. But, that would be an exercise in futility until she was ready to listen to reason.

Nor was Hetty about to begin repeating herself. She'd told the girl where they were taking her, perhaps not as detailed as she would have liked. But, Hetty had told her. She'd tried to be understanding in her approach and gotten nothing but arguments. So, now, she was less so.

And the thoughts of escape, while they were standing on the street making a scene were all she needed to make this go by faster. One raised eyebrow at the security officer behind the girl was the signal for him to tranq her again. This situation needed to be contained. Now.

They could try this again when they got to the base.
