RP: Thanksgiving Day
Who: Everyone
Where: Team rec house
When: November 24, 2011
Summary: Thanksgiving dinner

Savannah had been up relatively early (but still later than usual), making sure that everything was ready, visiting different people in case they needed help with the food.

At 11:00 am, they had their game. It was fun and not as competitive as the Easter game. Three pregnant women and the director seemed to make everyone extra careful. Even Tim didn't block as he knew, because there was no way that picking her up and blowing a raspberry against her neck was suddenly in the rules. Still the sun was out, they weren't working and everyone was having fun.

They played for a little over an hour and then back home to shower and get ready and then the rec house. "Brian, what have you done?" she asked, eyes glistening as she got inside the first floor apartment.

"Do you like?" Brian answered. All the furniture had been moved into what were supposed to be the bedroom. In the living room, there was a giant table that took the length of the room and wide almost as much, leaving enough room for the door and for people to walk by. "Since we can't find a table big enough, I got some plywood, some 2x4 to make plenty of legs and screwed everything together, and we all know how good I am with screwing."

Savannah snorted, but it was perfect, because they'd never find a table for forty people and this was big enough to accommodate even more arrivals. The chairs were simple folding chairs and the plywood ha been covered by vinyl tablecloths with thanksgiving designs. It was perfect.

Slowly everyone arrived and they were finally sitting down for dinner. "I'd like to say grace before we start," she said, looking around and eyes locking with G for a moment, and she smiled at him.

"Lord, we thank you for all the food you have given us. We thank you for bringing us together during this past year, keeping us safe, and giving us love and friendships that we never expected. We're very thankful for our parents and lovers, for our brothers and sisters, for these three children you have granted us, for all the family and friends sitting at this table and for the opportunity to being together. Amen." It was simple, short, and some people might not agree, but whether anyone admitted it or not, they were friends, bound together. They were family.

"Sorry to disappoint, I know how much you're been waiting on that. And watching a bunch of skinny girls dress ridiculously and say how far they are after eating a piece of lettuce? Priceless TV without even adding in the fierceness of Tyra Banks," she snorted. "Besides, we all know you secretly love Jersey Shore and want to be BFFs with The Situation."

"I know she did. I'm glad you got what you wanted," she said honestly. "With all of this," She gestured to everything around them. "I think out of everybody, you've probably made the most of it. You've settled down, Deeks, and Savannah's right for you. I didn't see it at first but she's good for you," When he mentioned her glowing, she looked at him skeptically. "I don't think I'm a glowy person. A hormonal mess some of the time, sure. I feel kind of bad, I almost took Eliot Spencer's head off the other day for speaking on behalf of Savannah, Jenna and I. I probably was a little unjustified in that."

"I get it. I hate the idea that they won't be ready for whatever comes next. I know Callen, Sam and Derek are working on everything to get them up to speed as quick as possible but you know we're not going to get any warning if they do come down on us," She paused. "I guess we have to just look out for them. There's not another option. I'm not about to let some kid get hurt."

"With such solid criticisms of popular television it's a wonder you don't have a book deal already." Marty sighed shaking his head. "And who doesn't want to be BFF with the Situation? Come on seriously, Kens." Marty rolled his eyes and grinned though, it was good, having a little of this again.

"It has been good," He nodded in agreement, not at all what he'd thought might lay in store for his future at some point and yet there he was happier than he'd ever been getting things he'd never even though were going to be for him. "She is good, she's crazy sometimes, but that's kind of what makes her so great - she's the best thing that ever happened to me." It was stupid and sappy, but Savannah brought that out in him. He chuckled when she mentioned hormones. "I'm sure if you felt the need it was entirely justified." He told her.

"No we're not going to let any of them get hurt." The kids might be just as stuck as the rest of them, but there were plenty of them who were going to make sure they got out alright when the time came. "You better be looking out for yourself too, you might be my ex-partner, but I'd kinda like it if you stuck around."

"Some things just can't be explained," she said with a fake sigh. Really, Kensi enjoyed talking about nothing with Marty. There wasn't too many people she could joke around with without people either thinking she was loopy or taking it seriously. "I'm not sure how well you'd get on in Jersey Shore. You know they're all about gym, tan, laundry and you kind of suck at tanning, lobster boy."

Kensi didn't say anything else. That was dangerously close to her sharing feelings limit of the day after she'd spoken to Callen earlier too. She chuckled. "I'm pretty sure I went for the jugular but at least he might stay out of our business now. I hate being out of active duty."

Kensi looked at him with a smile and shook her head. "Do you think there's any chance I'm not being looked after with this one the way? I am not foolish enough to argue with two Callens. They're stubborn and arguing would only make my head hurt. Derek already said I wasn't allowed to get hurt at football because he didn't want to deal with them," she added with a small laugh. "It's not so bad though. It's just strange having people caring."

"I'm very good at the other two things." Marty reminded Kensi with a grin. "Besides that's why they invented spray tans, for those of us of Easter European descent, I don't have to go out in the sun to tan - come on get with the times, I know we're in a different dimension and all of that but things haven't changed that much."

He chuckled and nodded, "If he knows what's good for him, I'm sure he's learned his lessons." Marty did his best not to get on Kensi's bad side even when she wasn't dealing with pregnancy hormones he wasn't going to be doing it now.

"Yeah well, it might go without saying, but you know me - I like saying." He reminded her, at least there would be someone to look out for her if the shit hit the fan, but Marty suspected it wasn't quite so easy or simple, knowing the kind of person Kensi was. It couldn't be easy. "People always cared, Kens - it's just easier to direct it at a baby."

"Gym and laundry? Well, aren't you the domesticated man?" she said, chuckling. "I hope you don't get streaks. I'd have to laugh at you then and you know how much I'd hate doing that."

"You love the talking," she agreed. She knew Callen cared in his own way and Robert too although she doubted him sometimes. The crux of it was that she still didn't really know him. Kensi, a year ago, would never have thought she'd be having a child with somebody she'd barely scratched the surface with. "I meant more the day to day but I know you're right."

She stifled a yawn. "I think I'm going to head off, have a quick nap. It's ridiculous how tired I get now. Do you mind?"

"Come on, don't try to deny that you've haven't snuck a peek when I've been working out - you know I'm awesome in the gym." He assured her with a grin and rolled his eyes. "I've been living on my own for years and years now - you think I don't know how to take care of myself?"

"Look at that, not even my partner and you've still got it." Marty grinned - he knew this probably wasn't easy for her and he didn't blame her having trouble adjusting to all of it, the baby and the family and everything that went with it. It was just going to take some time, for all of them.

"Not at all, I hear you pregnant ladies need your beauty sleep." He teased as she yawned. "I'll see you around."
