RP: Thanksgiving Day
Who: Everyone
Where: Team rec house
When: November 24, 2011
Summary: Thanksgiving dinner

Savannah had been up relatively early (but still later than usual), making sure that everything was ready, visiting different people in case they needed help with the food.

At 11:00 am, they had their game. It was fun and not as competitive as the Easter game. Three pregnant women and the director seemed to make everyone extra careful. Even Tim didn't block as he knew, because there was no way that picking her up and blowing a raspberry against her neck was suddenly in the rules. Still the sun was out, they weren't working and everyone was having fun.

They played for a little over an hour and then back home to shower and get ready and then the rec house. "Brian, what have you done?" she asked, eyes glistening as she got inside the first floor apartment.

"Do you like?" Brian answered. All the furniture had been moved into what were supposed to be the bedroom. In the living room, there was a giant table that took the length of the room and wide almost as much, leaving enough room for the door and for people to walk by. "Since we can't find a table big enough, I got some plywood, some 2x4 to make plenty of legs and screwed everything together, and we all know how good I am with screwing."

Savannah snorted, but it was perfect, because they'd never find a table for forty people and this was big enough to accommodate even more arrivals. The chairs were simple folding chairs and the plywood ha been covered by vinyl tablecloths with thanksgiving designs. It was perfect.

Slowly everyone arrived and they were finally sitting down for dinner. "I'd like to say grace before we start," she said, looking around and eyes locking with G for a moment, and she smiled at him.

"Lord, we thank you for all the food you have given us. We thank you for bringing us together during this past year, keeping us safe, and giving us love and friendships that we never expected. We're very thankful for our parents and lovers, for our brothers and sisters, for these three children you have granted us, for all the family and friends sitting at this table and for the opportunity to being together. Amen." It was simple, short, and some people might not agree, but whether anyone admitted it or not, they were friends, bound together. They were family.

Alexis smiled as he told her about his brother. "You almost never talk about your life there, only when you want to make me feel better. I'd like to hear more sometimes, not here with everyone around, but you know if you like."

She shook her head. "It's not. It's just the three of us and it's almost like make believe," she said, smiling getting bigger as she thought about her family. "It's a day for us. Usually we're all so busy that it's nice to spend the whole day together."

She snorted. "Savannah is going to kill you if she hears, and I'm not pregnant, but I'm sure I play worse than she does."

Alexis nodded. "I did, and she thought that I was crazy, but she does look like one, slight less anorexic, which is good."

Tim shrugged when she said he never really talked about home, "There's not much to say really." He assured her, he'd lived a simple life before coming here, and any excitement he'd had weren't really things he wanted to share.

He tried to think about what that'd have been like, the sort of Christmas Alexis was used to and just came up blank, it might have been just the three of them, but things that were small and simple to them still seemed big to the things he was used to.

"She know we went easier because they played." He assured her, "She's not half bad for a cheerleader." And he'd seen plenty of cheerleaders try to play, but that had been a little different. He wasn't worried about Savannah though, not today at least.

"Slightly less anorexic?" Tim asked raising an eyebrow at her description of Tyra. "I'd say she's probably not even close to anorexic, but I'm sure someone could find that to be an insult, so I'll keep my mouth shut on the matter."

Alexis laughed. "Tyra told me more in a few hours than you have in months. There has to be something to say. Not that it matters now, since we all are going to have new traditions." They didn't get a say in the matter. Things would be different for everyone, and usually she was good with what was happening, but the holidays were hard, and they had only started.

She chuckled. "For a cheerleader. I won't tell her that whether she knows it or not. You can if you want."

She nodded. "Good call, because it would come out as one no matter what you mean." She also thought that Tyra was too beautiful to care, but if he knew her, then he'd know that too. "Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and if you ever want to sit and talk, or grab a cup of coffee, let me know, okay? I'll see you later."
