RP: Thanksgiving Day
Who: Everyone
Where: Team rec house
When: November 24, 2011
Summary: Thanksgiving dinner

Savannah had been up relatively early (but still later than usual), making sure that everything was ready, visiting different people in case they needed help with the food.

At 11:00 am, they had their game. It was fun and not as competitive as the Easter game. Three pregnant women and the director seemed to make everyone extra careful. Even Tim didn't block as he knew, because there was no way that picking her up and blowing a raspberry against her neck was suddenly in the rules. Still the sun was out, they weren't working and everyone was having fun.

They played for a little over an hour and then back home to shower and get ready and then the rec house. "Brian, what have you done?" she asked, eyes glistening as she got inside the first floor apartment.

"Do you like?" Brian answered. All the furniture had been moved into what were supposed to be the bedroom. In the living room, there was a giant table that took the length of the room and wide almost as much, leaving enough room for the door and for people to walk by. "Since we can't find a table big enough, I got some plywood, some 2x4 to make plenty of legs and screwed everything together, and we all know how good I am with screwing."

Savannah snorted, but it was perfect, because they'd never find a table for forty people and this was big enough to accommodate even more arrivals. The chairs were simple folding chairs and the plywood ha been covered by vinyl tablecloths with thanksgiving designs. It was perfect.

Slowly everyone arrived and they were finally sitting down for dinner. "I'd like to say grace before we start," she said, looking around and eyes locking with G for a moment, and she smiled at him.

"Lord, we thank you for all the food you have given us. We thank you for bringing us together during this past year, keeping us safe, and giving us love and friendships that we never expected. We're very thankful for our parents and lovers, for our brothers and sisters, for these three children you have granted us, for all the family and friends sitting at this table and for the opportunity to being together. Amen." It was simple, short, and some people might not agree, but whether anyone admitted it or not, they were friends, bound together. They were family.

"I crossed the street while going to a club with my friends. We were going to celebrate before I left for college." One day she'd been elated and the next totally confused. "I tried everything to get in touch with them or my dad, before they found me."

Alexis chuckled. "It's easy to be when you aren't close to anyone. I watch and listen, but I'm not really involved, you know? So I can figure things out without any emotional involvement. It's like watching from the outside in a way." That was the biggest problem. She'd never been on the outside, because she'd always had her dad in her corner.

"I guess that's why I was curious. He's the only one I'm really close to. Well and Spencer, but he's been... distant lately." She nodded. "I guess it is. It was just normal in my school."

"That must have been really strange for you," She shook her head at the thought of seeing any of her college friends just vanish. She'd have thought she was going crazy. Or blind. "I'm not sure I would have liked seeing my friends disappear."

"Through choice?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. She wasn't sure if Alexis was the type to like being on the outside or not and so she was curious enough to ask the question.

"Same as sports were the only extra-curricular at ours," She shrugged easily. "It's interesting to hear about something different. I kind of feel like I'm listening to an episode of Gossip Girl though," she admitted with a grin. "I don't think I've ever known anybody quite like you."

"It was, because I know New York like the back of my hand, especially the Village, so I know where everything is supposed to be. It was raining hard, so I kept my head down, but then it was all different." She shook her head. "Oh no, I hadn't gotten to the club yet. I was going there to meet them. This is New York. You don't go together. You get on the subway and meet at a place."

Alexis shrugged. "There isn't really a choice here. Things are what they are. I have a few friends, but nothing like what Savannah has, nothing like family."

She chuckled. "I'd say that we're a more elitist school than what they have. Anyone caught in so much drama doesn't belong at Marlowe."

"Oh, I thought you were crossing the street actually with them," she said. "We used to meet at places in Austin more than travel together too. Some of my friends lived nearby but not all of them so it made more sense that way. Is that where you live though? The Village?"

"Yeah, well, she has a husband and baby on the way. She definitely went the family route," Tyra said with a gentle smile before reaching over to place her hand on top of Alexis's. This girl really reminded of her in Julie in a way. Mature on the outside and great at projecting that but still only seventeen at heart. She wondered if anybody had actually noticed that. "Your family seems pretty great anyway, Alexis. I know I don't wanna replace my own. But good friends? They're what counts."

"I'm sorry if I make you uncomfortable about it at all," she admitted. "I really am interested though."
