RP: Vance and Callen
Who: Vance and Callen
Where: Vance's office
When: early morning, January 7
Summary: G goes to see the Director for a final updates before the beginning of a regular work week

Leon had never been big in quantum physics and law of natures, but he knew that there was one absolute truth: politics were more lethal than guns. As an addendum, he knew that polical scheming was dirty and dangerous no matter the universe. However, it was something that he did, something that he'd could do instinctually and it was what had put him in charge of NCIS at such young age, so it was what he did with most of his day. He trusted Hetty to take care of the administrative part of this business, while he wined and dined. In other words, he got dirt on people, did favors when he could, and obtained levarage in a world where he had none until his arrival.

The problem with politics was that they didn't start until around ten, and he was up much earlier. At least he had time to catch up on things and reading local and foreign papers before leaving the base. This morning is briefing was interrupted by the arrival of Callen. He put away the Times and gestured for Callen to take a seat. "Are we ready to go operational on Monday?" Of course operational was't the appropriate term in this case, but it looked good on paper when you were trying to get salaries for these people.

"Very few of her concerns are unnecessary, I've found." They complained about the iron fist and eagle eyes she kept on things like reports and expenses. But, it was the usual complaint of people more suited to the field than a desk. G, at least, and he suspected the others of the L.A. team as well, knew it was part of 'rowing the boat'. They might prefer the legwork and action, but half of what made them successful was the paper pushing and people wrangling Hetty took on.

"It will be rocky to start. The civilians are the hardest ones to bring around, the most resistant. But, I believe they'll get there. Getting their feet wet on one case has helped. I believe training and working more and more as a team will do the rest of the work." It was going to be difficult. But, G had a policy of going to bat for his team, believing in them in ways he wouldn't believe in himself. It was strange how it worked with his lack of faith or trust in people in general. But, they were his team. It was what they needed.

G nodded his acknowledgement of the Director's concerns. "The academics may be slow to get started as we sort out supplies. But, firearm safety and self-defense, physical training, that will start first thing Monday morning." He didn't need reminders to watch out for the safety of his team, though he always appreciated Vance's concern. G was too paranoid not to consider their safety his number one priority. He couldn't help a tiny smirk. "This is me, Director. If they're not ICIS, they're all a potential threat."

"Any particular rumors I should worry about," he asked, all business again. "Or the usual vague rumblings of curious discontent?"

Vance nodded. "We're lucky to have her." He counted himself lucky to have all of his people. "We'll get the rest on board. ICIS has a way to instill loyalty in people."

He liked the fact that Callen understood the political side of things. Gibbs did too, except he didn't care. "There are the usual political rumors, but I'll deal with it. That video has caused other sorts of rumors, special experiments, super powers. Crazy things of course, but you'll know when there's something to know, until then, watch yourself out there." He knew he didn't have to say it, but he was responsible for all of them, whether he was out there or not.

"All right, you have your go ahead, Mr. Callen. Talk to Hetty and let me know how things go on Monday."
