RP: Alexis and Reid
Who: Alexis and Reid
Where: Team house
When: September 23, 2011
Summary: It's a date

Alexis had finally found the time for the date with Reid. Next week she'd be certified and qualified, which meant that she had to spend plenty of time at the range, but tonight was the weekend and tomorrow they would go to the salon, and then she could put more hours in the afternoon. All of that meant that she could have some fun.

She didn't go crazy, but got some food from a local restaurant. Nothing too crazy, just two containers of food and after meeting up with Reid, they went to the center. She sat up in one of the back rooms where there wasn't much of anything. Just tables and chairs. There were also no people, which was perfect "I hope you like the food. I didn't go for anything too innovative. Chicken Marsale or Veil Francese, you can pick what you want of we can share a piece of each. I don't mind either way. I got water and a bottle of red if you like. If not, we can always donate it to the club here."

"Perfect." She was used to sharing at home, picking from other people's plates, so this worked out just fine. "Not for me," she said, when he poured the wine. "I never got into the habit of drinking alcohol. I know some of my friends did it to rebel, but my dad always offered, and I just don't like the taste of it."

She reached over and squeezed his hand. "Are you okay?" Because it didn't sound happy at all. "You can tell me, you know. I won't tell anyone, no matter what it is." She smiled at him. "Grands says that you aren't supposed to keep things inside. It's not good for you spirituality and internal well being, and a lot of other things. It was during her Zen's phase."

She refused the wine and Spencer nodded, making sure he only had half a glass himself then. "I didn't drink until I was in my early twenties, even still I only drink wine and beer every now and then," Spencer explained, he'd only really started drinking wine because other people did but then he'd started to like it.

Looking down at her hand on his he sighed, his forehead creasing. He didn't mind her hands on his and they'd danced so the contact was becoming less intimidating. "Yes," he said with a little smile, because he was, he was okay. Turning his hand under hers he gave it a quick squeeze before he pulled away. Reid didn't know how much to share so he thought it was better to eat first while he thought about it. "It'll get cold," he pointed out with a little smile. "Let's eat and then we can talk?" Reid offered.

"Maybe in a few years, I'll learn to like it, or maybe not. I'm not too worried. I've never worried about what other people think," she said with an easy smile and a shrug. "Still, you don't have to stop because of me."

Alexis let go and picked up the fork. "I can tell you a secret. We can eat and talk at the same time," she said, trying not to giggle "I know it's a very hard concept to accept, even for a genius like you, but it's true. You can do both at the same time."

"It grows on you, a little," Reid said with a smile. "And you didn't have to get wine just for me, but thank you," he added, as he picked up his cutlery.

Spencer laughed, okay she had a point. "Okay, I was trying to give myself some time to think, you clever little know it all," he said with a fond smile. "So we can talk and eat, Spencer said with a nod, looking down at his dinner. Thinking about it all kind of put him off his food but he'd decided he didn't want to tell Alexis about how he felt about Morgan, because when it didn't work out he wanted to be able to keep those feelings to himself.

"My team at home are a family and after Morgan and Garcia vanished there was an incident and someone on my team was killed. It was hard, the hospital, the funeral, trying to get along after it," Spencer explained, pausing to take a bite. "And then she appeared here, like a ghost and it turns out she didn't pass away, she went into witness protection."

Alexis chuckled. "Of course I got it for you. It's not the first time that I got wine for other people, so it's fine. My boyfriend liked beer, not that he was supposed to drink, but we're not telling anyone."

"Oh, now I'm the know it all?" She laughed. "I thought you were the genius. I'm just pointing out the obvious, but I'll stop doing that if you like," she teased.

She took a few bites as he talked, listening and frowning. "Man, that must suck," she said after a while. I mean I get why, and everyone here is big on secrets, but I'd be really upset if they kept a secret like that. One time, my dad was helping the police on this case and there was the possibility of a bomb in New York, and he pushed my grandmother and I to go away, but he wouldn't say why. We went to a spa, but returned early, only to find out that he was kidnapped, and he could have died. He was in the middle of everything. I was so happy to have him back, but I was also so angry at him for not telling us." She said. "Secrets suck, especially with family."

"I can keep a secret," he said with a little smile. Spencer really only drank socially, not enough to get drunk, when he'd wanted to take his head somewhere else he'd got lost in something harder.

"You can be the junior know it all," Spencer said, nudging her shin gently under the table. Alexis reminded him a little bit of himself and he smiled down into his dinner.

Putting down his cutlery he tilted his head back, rubbing his forehead. "People keep secrets because they think it's for the best, they think that the burden of the truth is too much, but the truth is the most important thing." Reid said softly towards the ceiling. "Trust is more important than anything," he added. His team were everything to him and the reason that he felt like he could be himself with them was because of that trust.

"I know you can. I wouldn't have said anything otherwise." She stopped for a moment. "Not that it matters since we're stuck in different dimensions. I doubt you want to tell so badly that you'd find his version here just to tell his parents that he drinks beer."

Alexis pretended to think for a moment, and then nodded. "I guess I can be. It's not like you're the only know it all around anyway. Sheldon is so much worse. He actually tells people tat he's a genius."

She watched him, and this was clearly bothering him more than he wanted to admit. "I know," she said softly. "I agree with you. People always try to say that they are protecting you. You're too young, you shouldn't have to deal with this, but they are really protecting themselves, because they can't face you knowing the truth." She reached for him again, covering his hand with hers "It's okay to be upset because of this. They should have told you the truth, and it's their fault, but if they mean so much to you, then you should also forgive them. Just because they made a mistake, it doesn't mean you have to make things worse."

"Underage drinking is really the least of my concerns," Reid said, taking a sip of his wine.

It was nice to be appreciated, for people to appreciate how smart he was. Sure people had been impressed by him in the past, he'd been young and obviously advanced and he'd received plenty of positive feedback. But it had always been at a cost. Being smart didn't win you friends, didn't win you lots of things. It was lonely.

Rubbing his face again he shook his head. "I've lied. I've lied about important things and I've lied to my friends, my family. I've put them in danger and I'm not noble, I'm a hypocrite," he pointed out, although it felt really good to say it out loud for once. "I talk about how betrayed I feel when I've made people feel like that, too. And I just..." Spencer leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table and his head in his hands. "I don't know how to forgive, I'm not emotionally equipped for this," he said.

Reid was trying to think like Morgan, to put it all in perspective like he would. But it was hard and he really did just want to feel entitled to be upset and betrayed forever. But he wasn't and he knew that, he wasn't entitled to anything and it had been a long time coming for him to truly realize that.
