Re: April and Savannah
She could hardly believe the question. What was great about being an amazing doctor? "Everything," she answered, and her very voice changed as she said it, the passion coming through as she went on. "There is nothing that can possibly compare to the feeling when you've saved a life or helped someone to a better life. I can't even explain it, it's this amazing rush of knowing that you did something that was utterly good, and then pride of knowing that it was your skill, your hard work that saved that person, or made their life better." She smiled widely. "I'm not sure I explain it well, I just know that it's the most amazing feeling ever." Just as losing someone was the worst feeling. She didn't think of that now, though, but instead answered Savannah's question.
"Meredith and Derek has been together for years, they're married and are trying to have their first child and granted he's divorced since before but I can't think of anyone more stable than the two of them." Even if there had been a time when she'd wished that wasn't so. "I'm not sure how long Owen and Christina have been together but he stands by her even if she's acting strangely at the moment, she's not handling the aftermath of the shooting very well, she's stopped being a doctor at the moment but everyone is hoping she'll return." She paused and took a breath before she went on. "I could go on, but you don't know any of them it has to be just names for you, but yes, I know doctors who are or were happily married. I know those who are not too, but I'm quite certain there are break-ups, divorces or affairs even amongst those who work at the super market or the unemployed."
Privately she wondered if that was the only future any of them could hold in this world. If they were stuck here in this dimension, then what? Even if they got their training, could they move out of this base and have proper lives eventually? Or were they stuck here forever? She'd never be the future of medicine, she'd never be a good agent no matter what badges they gave her. Finding someone to create a family with might be all that was left. That thought only made her depressed though, unlike Savannah April didn't see any happiness in that. "Like you said," she said. "You have to find what is right for you, and I what is right for me. I just hope we can both find it here if we have to."
