Re: April and Savannah
April looked around the room to the both of them and nodded. "I will," she said. "Thanks for the tip. Hopefully we'll both have houses before long." She really didn't want to spend weeks or months or possibly years in a hotel.
"Weeks?" she asked, horrified. "That's awful. I was so glad when you spoke to me, it made it much more bearable. I was getting depressed after only a few days here." She thought about it and looked at Savannah. "We'll just have to make sure to speak to people," she said. "Especially those who don't know anyone, make sure they feel welcome and not isolated." It felt like an important task right now.
"I'll keep that in mind," she said with a smile. "Not going wasn't really an option for me though. I want to do whatever I can to help, besides, doing nothing isn't something I'll ever get used to. I want to feel useful, to do good. It's why I became a doctor. I want to help people."
She shrugged. "I know that," she said. "I wasn't talking about everyone, believe me I've met jerks too and I know what they can be like, wanting to wait I mean." She hesitated for a moment then leaned in, partly wondering why she was sharing this but doing it anyway. "You're not the only virgin here," she said, before pulling back, the blush evident on her face. "I never dated much, and there was never anyone special enough and I wanted it to be more than just something in the back of some car that I'd end up regretting. And that wasn't my point, my point was only that there are some men who aren't complete jerks and if Marty is good enough for you he'll wait until you're ready or until you're married. If he's not-" She shrugged. "Then you'll at least have one friend here to support you. Just don't let him talk you into something you don't want."
She sighed. "It's still what I am," she said. "They can call me an agent as much as they want, give me a badge and force me to learn how to handle a gun, but in the end, I'm a surgeon."
