Who: Ares and Aphrodite What: After Poly's text Ares drove off to keep an eye on his consort Where: Clubbing area in Miami When: Early Monday morning, August 11th, 2008 Warnings: Aphrodite being drunk, Ares being... Ares.
Ares had replied to the text Poly had sent him, it was probably very short but he wasn't mr. nice god after all. He also didn't really care what most thought of him especially not when Aphrodite might be in trouble. He grabbed a coat, his papers and some money and jumped into one of his smaller but fast cars. He didn't want his consort to spot him right away, first he had to know what was going on.
As fast as he could without being stopped by annoying mortal police officers he drove to the address the muse had texted to him. He parked and looked around, trying to see Aphrodite without being seen himself.
Aphrodite wasn't to far away from the bar that she had left from with Sheri, she was walking rather slow as, well, walking had become pretty hard. She blinked, she had told Sheri she was going to go find a Hotel to hole up in, and, well, she might do that, but she wasn't ready yet. She looked about, crossed the street, and went across to another bar. She entered, it was dark, smoky, and seedy. She shrugged. Men, of course, pinching, and grouping more then they should if they could, but she wasn't in the mood, and shoved through to the back. All she wanted to do is drink, be as numb as possible, and forget...
Ares had no problem spotting Aphrodite, she was the most beautiful woman in miles of course. Following her wasn't that hard, especially not in the bar, it was dark and busy. The people there, once they saw him, moved out off his way, they knew instinctively not to mess with him. He took a stool at the bar close enough to keep an eye on his consort but far away enough to not attract her attention just yet.
Once again she did the same she did to the other bar girl at the other bar, she waved a fifty at her, and said, "Keeping it coming gets you this, not just change from it either." She lifted her brows to see if she understood. The girl kept her eye on Cynthia close and the minute she seemed to be going empty, she filled it. No longer though was she just drinking shots they were half full glasses of vodka, straight up. She seemed to drinking them down like the clear liquid was water rather then something that burned going down. She rebuffed men, glaring, and even yelling at them, which wasn't like Aphrodite at all, let alone her drinking so much, but she was always the flirt, and wasn't even doing that benignly.
She looked up and around her, she felt like she was being watched, but she was thinking that she was probably being paranoid. She had pepper spray in her purse though, something she had acquired when she had got away from weird asshole that twisted her life for two months. She closed her eyes downing the rest in the glass, when she opened them there was a new one. She smiled, she was earning that fifty well...
Ares watched and glared, he did drink too but not very much, he needed to keep a clear head. A few times he almost had gone over to Aphrodite to stop her drinking or to just hurt the men she rebuffed, but he didn't. Why? He really didn't know, he had read the text Poly had sent him, but why he was taking the muse's advice he did not know.
Cynthia looked about she got up, she didn't like it here. She was getting a creepy feeling, she had probably had about four, on top of her original seven shots of vodka. She stumbled when she got up, steading herself on the table, and she giggled, when another man came to help her she pushed him away and slurred out, "Who asked you? I don't need your help." When she said it again, as he tried again, saying, "He thought he didn't know what she needed anymore." She shoved him again, making herself fall back into her booth. "SHOVE OFF!! She yelled. The man shrugging and said, "Suit yourself lady."
She tried getting up again, leaning on the table to do so, she started moving forward, but she was stumbling quite a bit. Feels good, if only I could walk straight. She stumbled and feel right into another man's arms. "Well... Angels falling from the sky now. Just for me, pretty lady?" He held her tight up against her, and she squirmed to get free, if she wasn't so drunk the kicking foot she was trying to land a blow on him might have succeed. "Let ME go." She said through gritted teeth, trying to get to her purse but he had her clutched in a way where it was stuck where she couldn't get at it.
Ares got up and moved toward Aphrodite and the man holding her, he stared at the man who could not help but see him. Ares was not laughing, his eyes showed the fires of war from the past, present and the future, the man looked at the angry God and let go of Aphrodite. He knew he shouldn't have helped the Goddess of Love, he had only been watching up until now but he could not sit back and watch men grope his consort when she didn't want to be groped.
He didn't move closer, he would give Aphrodite the chance to look back and see him or think that her kick had been effective and leave. Either was okay with him, what ever happened he would keep an eye on the drunk Goddess.
She looked up at the tall war god. At first a smile came on her face, as he had helped her away from the rude man. Then it started to turn to a scowl, as how did her love get here... She blinked trying to think back, but everything was sort of fuzzy now, though that was what she wanted right? She frowned and said, "Sheri... she called you..." She blinked slowly. She turned away then, and moved away. She hadn't wanted to be around Ares like this. Not like this. She didn't know whether she wanted to be angry at the young muse, or happy, as well if she hadn't done what she had done that as she might very well have got hurt. Her thoughts were jumbled going between the first part of the night, with Dionysius, then these stupid things popping into her head, making her yell at D for something he probably didn't even mean. She shook her head, leaning on a free part of the wall. Dammit... Now Ares seeing her in such a frame of mind, she wasn't even sure if he would even wonder... She shook her head again.
Ares watched her for a moment, he wasn't one of the most sensitive Gods around but even he knew when someone wanted to be alone. He grumbled at some of the nosy mortals who were still staring at Aphrodite, they didn't dare move closer to her with him there. He moved closer to his consort. "I'll take you home." He simply stated, they didn't need to talk right now if she didn't want too, he just wanted to make sure she would not get hurt in this filthy little mortal-infested bar.
At first she fought a bit when he went to collect her up, guiding her to the door. However, of course, with Ares, she seemed to pretty much comply pretty quickly, sighing she leaned on her War God, and shortly thereafter crumpled against him. She had passed out.
Ares was not really your typical knight in shining armour but still today he was there for Aphrodite. He scooped her up into his strong arms and carried her to his car, he gently put her in the passengers seat. The gentleness he displayed now was something not many had seen and not many would ever see. He made sure she was safely buckled up before getting into the car and drove her home.
Summary: Ares goes to collect and bring home a very drunk Goddess of Love
