Who: Nick, Mel, Helen
What: Plans. Evil, dire, plans. >3
Where: Nick and Mel's house
When: Friday
Warnings: None
The sky was darkening into night, the hour well into the evening. Dinner was done, for adults, baby and dog, and it was into general mellow out time. Having just changed Helen's diaper, Mel walked down the stairs to the main floor, Shadow following behind her, and to the living room. Ah, perfect, there was Nick. She simply sat down next to him, shifting to partly lean against his side with Helen still in her arms, being drowsy. "What are you watching?"
He looked to her as she neared, and smiled. "America's Got Talent. Kinda fun, kinda dumb." Shrug. He didn't care much for reality, but nothing else was on. And occasionally, there really was talent! Whoa!
Her nose scrunched up slightly and she made a mental note to ask Hades what he thought of the show later. She'd rather avoid it. Snuggling in closer, she wondered if she could get the remote from him. "Do you have any plans for Halloween yet?"
Nick blinked, surprised at the turn of convo. "Um, nope? That's a ways off, anyway."
"Not really. Just over a month..." She was a muse on a mission, but she could be slow and tactful about it if she wanted.
He could see that, too. Arching an eyebrow, he asked, "And?"
"Your father had a charity event last year." She twisted to peer up at him. "It was a tradition wasn't it?"
"Yeah. I wasn't sure if it would be in the right spirit... I hardly know any of these people that come to it. And he was a super organizer." Read: I am not.
"Did you want to try to do it again?" she asked, curious and cautious at the same time.
He paused, considering. "Yeah, sure."
"... Would you want to do it at the theater?" Helen squirmed in her arms, and she shifted to accommodate the child.
Hey, baby! Nick reached out to let her hand curl tightly around his finger. Heh, she had his grip, for sure... "Sure, why not," he said. "That's a neat idea. It'd be something new for them, and good PR for you."
Mel nodded. "We can let the public in general come in, use the second level for a kid's area. We can send out invitations to anyone of importance... Maybe let some of the charities that you want to donate too know so they can manage their clients and rally people to the party..." She'd been thinking about parts of it for the past few days, and now she offered them up as she shifted their daughter to be comfortablely in reach of both parents.
"Or..." she considered for a moment, then frowned slightly, speaking as she thought. "We could leave the up stairs as an adult, no minors allowed drinking area. Show the movie Freaks so that it ends around 10:30, and turn the theater over to the adults. The stage could be used as a dance floor, and we can shift the up stairs into a silent auction." People liked silent auctions, right? And maybe they could get some donations for package deals for them.
Nick considered that to himself, and nodded. "You sound like you have a plan in mind already..." Smirk~
She frowned slightly. "Just ideas. I thought about what has been done before, and how to fit things together."
"Hey, it's your place," he said with a shrug. "Whatever you want to do with it, do it."
"Except that I mean need a sponsor..." Hint hint. She peered up at him. "... And you'd be the host of sorts."
"I'll be your sponsor. Or, Hades would."
She twisted to kiss his chest in thanks. "What do you want at the party?"
"Booze," he said without a second's hesitation.
"Done." That was easy enough to promise. "Anything else?"
He considered, then shrugged. "I would suggest keep the scares kinda low-key. Remember, these are mostly richies I'm hosting. The scariest thing they wanna confront is the stock going down. They can't really handle blood, guts and ghosts."
"We can focus on the costume part rather than the scare part. Make it a masked event with drinks, art, silent auction, more drinks, music..." She shrugged. "We can make the trick or treat part like a scavenger hunt. People find envelopes and when they turn them in, they can get small prizes of the trick or treat variety?" Mel turned to peer at him. This was turning into something kind of big if he didn't set any limits on what he wanted to do.
He chuckled and pulled her closer for a kiss. "You really like this stuff, don't you? I guess I never really got into it... I mean, I went as a toga guy for like... six years running." In a chariot no less. Oh, the irony.
"Muse," she murmured to explain lifting her head and giving him the kiss, before Helen mumbled in her arms. Muses had ideas. It was keeping them within reality that sometimes posed the greater problems.
And that explained it all, of course. Looking down to the grumbling babe, he smiled and took her into his arms. "Helen, of course, can be a princess. Or a caterpillar or something, I guess." She was clearly going to be victim to her parents dressing whims! Muharhar.
"If she's a princess, you will be the king... Maybe the twins should be princes." And she would make masks for them all. After she talked with Hestia. Hands free, she wrapped them both around her mortal and snuggled in at his side.
"And you, the queen, of course." Snuggles, yay!
Except kings and queens were often married... Though didn't stop her from kissing his shoulder. "Or Melpomene. You could be the king with two muses in your court. Maybe more, if they feel like it..."
"Nah, they don't like me that much," he said with a chuckle. "'Sides, I like you as my queen, and all that comes with it." Wink wink.
"Wouldn't you like me more as a consort or mistress? Maybe I can plot the queen's downfall and cause a huge war with her home country." She smirked a bit as she said this, guessing exactly what benefits he was aiming toward.
Nick couldn't help but snort. "That'd imply I loved someone other than you."
"Not exactly. Kings didn't exactly marry for love, except in the fairy tales." She considered that briefly. " ... We could make it semi fairy tale themed?" Don't wrinkle the nose Mel, there was a lot that could be done with it.
Thankfully, Nick did it for her. "Nah. And you should talk about fairy tales, goddess."
"You know that a lot of the stories weren't the child friendly versions we know today, right?" Oh, now that she might work with... But, that might not make the guests happy.
"Come on, like alot of the stories we tell kids now are friendly?" he teased. "Grandma is eaten by a wolf? Children getting dumped in the woods and nearly eaten by a witch? Giant houses with chicken legs?" He shuddered.
"And if grandma never gets to come back but woodcutter only finds parts of her? Or if the father is too late and the children get backed? If it actually was a chicken and the mess that it would make?" She knew she should have been around the Grimm's longer... Maybe Disney wouldn't have been able to steal the stories.
He laughed and shuddered again at the same time. "Ew."
Mel grinned and leaned up to playfully nip his ear. Oh, the tales she could tell him...
(6:53:50 PM) thunderbearer: He could almost feel her compulsion and quickly replied, "Don't you dare. Destert's soon," though he allowed the nipping.
She chuckled darkly, much like a perfectly evil witch in a play, and nipped again, sucking slightly on the ear this time.
Mmm. He stifled a groan, feeling a little icky when Helen was staring up at their activities with those wide 'I see what you did there' baby eyes.
Well, Helen would go to bed at some point, and the adults could continue with their activities then. Of course, it wasn't as though she knew what was happening. Mel kissed his cheek and settled once more. "Thalia and I can organize some of it, but we'll need you to do a few things as well. Like any lists your father had from past parties of invitees, or charities he tended to favor."
Still, it gave Nick the wibbies! "Works for me, babe."
"And anything else you do or don't want done. Otherwise, Thalia and I will probably decide things." That would have been a warning flag, but Mel didn't see it. What was wrong with letting Muses plan a party?
Nothing that Nick could see? He nodded. "I'll let ya know."
"In the mean time..." She stroked her daughters head, and smiled when the wide eyes turned to her, and the smile that followed after. "{We should see this one to bed soon and tend to dessert.}"
Hmmm, but what kind of dessert? He hoped it was the kind he liked the most~~ "{If you'll get out dishes, I'll put her down.}"
Mel arched an eyebrow. "{Dishes?}" But before he could make a response, she gave him a firm kiss to the lips and crawled off the couch.
"{That is typically what food goes on!}" he said to her retreating back. Duh! Rolling his eyes, he tickled Helen's nose and started to take her up to her room. "Mom is silly. Yes she is~"
Playful was more like it, but he'd discover that soon enough. True to her world, Mel set about finding them a dessert for the evening as her boyfriend and mortal started to take their daughter upstairs. Shadow would probably play watch dog until the child fell asleep.
Summary: Nick and Mel discuss upcoming holidays.
