Thomas did consider not coming. He consider it for a long while, and very seriously. His feelings about Teresa were so complicated right now and it was much easier to keep them all separated when he wasn't right there beside her.
But he'd told her that he'd come, and Thomas kept his word. So maybe he was a few minutes late, but he showed up, hands shoved in his pockets, expression unreadable.
He took the cereal bar, looked at it, and took a bite. It wasn't bad, so he kept it, not one to pass up food when it was offered to him. He didn't make eye contact with her, though. It was too difficult right now. How could he hate her for things that she hadn't even done yet? But she was still the same Teresa who thought that WICKED was doing the right thing, and that was the thing that bothered him most.
"Thanks," he said softly, but that was all he was able to speak.
