It actually wasn't extraordinarily often that anyone said anything like that to Tony, despite appearances and obvious sense that he deserved the accolades; more often, he was subjected to Steven's or Misty's withering glares for all of the helping he neglected to do. Which, in Tony's opinion, took up all of the time he could have been spending performing miracles, but they rarely saw it that way. So he was thrown for a moment, and her splashing was quickly forgiven as he relaxed out of his defensive curl, and he tripped over, "You help," before he could think of a more elegant way to say so. Floating to Anna's side to cradle her like he imagined she would all of those old women in their beds, he pointed out, "These children live and die no matter what anyone else can do. That's a gift they'll always need." Tony couldn't help but feel he missed a major point here, but he was in prime position to flick a spray of water in Anna's face.
